A clean easy interface lets teens learn the basics of investing in a low risk big reward way. Thanks to Bumper we’re now having conversations about financial literacy and making smart investment decisions. A skill for a lifetime! And the fact that Bumper is a company founded by ethical young people, on a mission to help others learn about investing, is even better. I wanted a vehicle that would allow us to have conversations about money, saving and investing. Bumper has provided that with a really fun and easy platform. Small investments made over time, allows kids to see how the market works. They see how dollar-cost-averaging works, which I am finding increases my child’s ownership of his own financial future. The only problem is when I want to sell a stock after hours, beside it, the stock will say “Queued”. It says that and so I assumed it meant it would sell when the market opens back up, but no that was not the case. Instead of selling it, the stock would just stay in my portfolio like it was untouched. I could not be more impressed by the app. It kickstarted her interest in investing, and I’m surprised to see how such a nascent app is so advanced and fine-tuned to user experience. You can really tell that it was made with a teen’s brain in mind. Honestly, it also has been a great opportunity to have a shared bond with her. Nothing teaches the exponential benefits of saving & investing (vs spending $100 on a pair of shoes) than buying stocks. The app has given us more reasons to connect and talk…I’m careful not to give advice…I mostly listen and ask them questions about what they are seeing and noticing( social trends, retail, cars, fast food, technology). I came to investing late in my life and I love knowing I’m helping my grandchildren learn the importance of investing in her future.
