Le support a été très réactif toutes les fois où je l’ai contacté. Les leçons de grammaire sont bien faites, sans les erreurs classiques de certains manuels. Le système est encourageant et clair sans être stressant. Cheers ### 5/5 — My favorite learning app for Japanese grammar *2026-04-01* If you’re studying Japanese and want to get deeper than Duolingo ever could, then consider Bunpro for grammar. While there are hundreds of SRS apps with nearly infinite customizability for Japanese in general, in my opinion Bunpro is by far the most organized and clearly designed for the grammar part. The points are logically organized and intuitively explained, and feature explainers to better differentiate between related grammar points. The paid version isn’t cheap, but it offers unlimited access to all the grammar points, and it’s more affordable during the annual sale. Bunpro also offers a vocabulary SRS, though I would say that grammar is easily the best part. ### 5/5 — Best way to study grammar *2026-03-15* In my opinion the best way to study grammar. The explanations are detailed and also show the differences to similar expressions. The different levels of hints you can set during the practice is a nice option as well. I don’t like the way it works. It makes my keyboard display disappear, I can’t click into the text box to delete text, and I’m forced to undo. On top of that I’ve accidentally hit the back button on the info screen, thinking it will bring me back up the page, but it brings me back to my homepage. Best UI of any language learning app, including Duolingo. Highly detailed. My one and only recommendation is to have kanji learning added, but picking them up from learning new words and reading while learning vocab and grammar has been very helpful as well. This is what I planned to do anyway, and I’ve become familiar with around 50-70 kanji just by doing this. Buy this app before others. Now that the official app is out, it honestly feels like a rebranded beta. Still buggy, and not much improved. Main issues: • Input system is too strict. Compared to WaniKani (the kanji learning app), Bunpro gives zero leeway. A typo like “hellp” for “hello” gets marked wrong. Even harmless synonyms like “crying” vs. “weeping” get flagged. It’s frustrating and wastes time. • Clunky UI. The design feels choppy and inefficient. Something as simple as adding your own synonyms takes way too many clicks. It shouldn’t be this tedious. • Missing customization features. I’d love to add custom images for mnemonics. Visual aids help memory, and this is a missed opportunity. • Automatic Kana keyboard switching should be standard. Having to manually switch for Japanese inputs adds friction. That said, there are good things: • It makes grammar more accessible and structured. • The example sentences are practical and reinforce points well. • No need to carry around thick textbooks anymore. In short: it’s functional, but rough around the edges. Needs smarter input handling, more flexible synonym recognition, and better UX polish to justify being “official.” **Developer response:** Hey! I just want to choose where to start, shouldnt be this hard. The app even says at the beginning "dont stress about the initial options you can change them later" but it's not clear to me how to do that. i would prefer to have a clearly visualized linear course progression. Just because I'm at a certain level doesnt mean i want to start from there. In my mind any course app should allow you to start from the beginning or continue at any time from the home screen, just like a video game. **Developer response:** Hey! Actually, it’s very simple - you just have to tap the ‘^’ icon next to "Learn". Then, tap the gear icon. There, you can add a deck and include whatever you want to study - for example, N5. You can also remove N4 from your study queue! Alternatively, you can just open "Decks" and tap "Learn" on N5. That’s all :) Cheers! ### 3/5 — Fine, I suppose *2026-04-18* I’m not sure if I don’t understand the example sentences because I skipped straight to N4 (and didn’t see the earlier grammar or vocabulary) or if they are just using grammar and vocabulary that are way beyond N4. I suspect it’s the latter, which is really not helpful. I also wish there were a way to hide the hints in quizzes: I tend to be lazy and not read the entire sentence yet still be able to answer just by reading the English hint. **Developer response:** Thank you for trying Bunpro! As for the the example sentences, we actually use an 'N+1' approach. This means our sentences build upon previously taught grammar, just like a pyramid. So grammar not learned should not appear as long as you are using bunpro deck. As for the quiz hints, we've got you covered! You can hide them by tapping the hint button during a review, or you can go into your Review Settings to permanently change the default to 'Hide'. Avoir un mois gratuit est un bon moyen de voir si l’appli fonctionne pour nous. I only wish it let me download a deck for offline use so I could study without using mobile data. I was counting on cramming reviews on a flight to Japan and was so bummed out when I couldn’t. Teaches vocab and grammar and with the way it makes you type answers on the flash cards, retention is so much higher. Love that it’s grouped all the grammar and vocab into JLPT levels, which makes it nice and easy to keep progressing through them. Additional resources like reading and JLPT tests are a wonderful bonus too. Look no further for an interactive textbook to help you on your Japanese journey. This one taught me all the kana in 3 days. Grammar and vocabulary are notoriously difficult, but the unique teaching approach makes a massive difference. Jetzt lerne ich seit 3 Monaten wieder aktiv für den JLPT Test und kann Bunpro umso mehr empfehlen! Man kann sich Decks reinladen für jede Stufe (N5 - N1) und auch einige Bücher wie Genki z.B. sind als Deck komplett verfügbar. Its system of spaced repetition gives me a wonderful thing to reach for when I’m waiting in line for coffee or winding down at the end of the day. Its system of pluggable flash cards has made it an invaluable companion to my Genki textbook. Whereas I used to get tripped up on its grammar lessons, or have trouble making its vocab “stick”, Bunpro gives me a great way to practice those lessons.
