### 2/5 — Poor app performance of a great magazine

*2019-07-28, version 12.0*

Issues are consistently delayed in the app by over a month compared to the print version on the newsstand. As I write this, it is July 28, and the May issue is the most recent one I can see in the app. I have loved this magazine since the 90’s, but the digital subscription experience is very poor.

### 1/5 — What about digital subscribers?

*2011-10-21, version 1.0.38*

I have been a reader of Bust for around five years and a subscriber for two. I really enjoy this magazine but was surprised to see the app did not have a log-in option for mail and/or digital subscribers.

While I can log on to read Bust through the website it seems this app has greater potential for readability. Unfortunately, this app is lost on me I am a regular subscriber.

If updated to allow access to pre-existing subscribers I will change my rating to 4 or 5 stars.

### 2/5 — too basic

*2011-09-27, version 1.0.38*

needs to have a way to sign in for digital subscriptions. right now it's just taking up space on my ipad because there is no way I am buying the issues through the app when I already have a sub. I keep hoping for an update that will include this, but no luck so far. May as well just get rid of it.

### 2/5 — Really just a PDF

*2011-05-24, version 1.0.36*

I was so so excited when this app came out. I'm a little disappointed that it is just a PDF, which you can for free with a printed subscription. But I have faith in the BUST gals that future updates will begin to improve the app. I would love to see it be like the SPIN app.

### 1/5 — Gotta buy it.

*2011-05-20, version 1.0.36*

2.99 per issue. It's crap.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App stopped downloading new issues

*2024-07-13*

I have tried numerous times now to contact the magazine/customer service to get my issues to download, but each time, the response has been crickets. I have paid for the subscription, and the app says I have an active subscription. I have tried all the typical things I can do on my side to restore the app and solve the problem, but nothing has worked. I am hoping that this review will finally get someone to take me seriously.

### 1/5 — Can’t log in

*2019-09-24, version 12.0*

Keep getting same suggestions from support but can’t log in

### 1/5 — Delayed issues

*2019-08-01, version 12.0*

Can’t see issues when they’re released, takes over a month for them to show up. What am I even paying for??

### 1/5 — Issues delayed

*2019-04-27, version 9.0*

I don’t see the March issue available :(

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2017-01-17, version 8.3*

Saw an AD on Instagram and it looked good, but then I get the app and I get a 30 second preview then have to pay 3.99 to read the magazine.

### 1/5 — Hate the new app style!

*2014-11-28, version 5.0*

Although the magazine content is great, I won't be buying the digital issues anymore. I totally dislike the new cover flip style. To me it's just annoying. I would have given the magazine 5 stars, but not in this format.

For some people it may be great, just not for me.

### 1/5 — Print subscribers

*2012-07-20, version 2.8.1*

Can't use the iPad app. Boo!!!!

### 1/5 — Bloated app update

*2012-04-27, version 2.7*

Old app: 6.2MB
New app: 28.5MB

I don't care about the new iPad's display, so I'm deleting Bust. Bye.

### 1/5 — Glitchy

*2012-01-24, version 2.5*

It freezes more often than it actually works.

### 1/5 — Not free for print subscribers

*2011-12-30, version 2.0*

A digital version is available through the website for current subscribers. This app seems redundant.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best college discovery

*2015-08-05, version 5.13*

I've kept my subscription for the last 5 years, it's always a treat to get the new issue!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2013-12-06, version 4.01*

I love the bust app. Simply it is fast, engaging, and well done

### 5/5 — Always great cover stories

*2013-12-05, version 4.01*

Always enjoy what bust brings to the table.

### 5/5 — FAVORITE MAGAZINE

*2013-09-19, version 3.6*

It's so good oh my god

### 5/5 — Snappy!

*2012-07-20, version 2.7*

Great design. The files of each issue are smaller than other over-bloated magazines; Wired, I'm looking at you. Still manages to include well thought multimedia content without taxing performance, even on an original iPad.

As for the space of the app itself, well, the new size accounts for about three songs or ten pictures and is still smaller compared to other magazines and common apps.

### 4/5 — Love BUST!

*2013-01-11, version 2.9*

The app is great, especially the built in clipping feature. It would be even better if the products and websites in the magazine had live links, so you could be taken directly to the external website. Thus, I give it four stars.

### 4/5 — Subscription option?

*2011-05-24, version 1.0.36*

Of course it's not free! Neither is anything worth reading. I downloaded the free April/May issue and it worked fine. $3 per issue is reasonable, and less than the cover price of $5. I wish Bust had gone with an existing magazine reader app like Zinio though. Would also love to see a digital subscription option.

### 3/5 — You get the content but it’s just a pdf

*2019-09-26, version 12.0*

The digital version is ok, nice to have on the go. Just wish the digital mag had the option for a dynamic view where you could really read the great content without the zooming in and out, shifting of screen silliness. The magazine is great, content is amazing and I will continue to support it!

### 3/5 — Disappointing

*2017-08-09, version 8.3*

I love Bust and the content is great. And I support subscriptions to keep indie publishers going, and $20/year is a bargain. Only complaint is that even with a subscription the issues are presented as a tiny PDF basically. All you can do is browse the print layout and constantly zoom in zoom out and pan back and forth. No searching. Articles don't load in an easily readable format. Bummer.

### 2/5 — Delayed issues

*2019-09-12, version 12.0*

Currently awaiting the September/October 2019 issue....already nearly mid September and nothing. No way to notify publisher of app problems
