### 4/5 — Awesome app!

*2026-08-27, version 1.122.1*

This app is the best! Great way to allow visitors and vendors access to your apartment.

### 3/5 — Often slow or unresponsive

*2026-08-17, version 1.121.0*

I’m a new user. The most reliable function of ButterflyMX ecosystem is the door FOB. The app works “ok” but it is often slow or at times unresponsive. The flimsy garage gate activation strip provided for the car is hit-and-miss, mostly the latter. Yes, the overall system is more secure but it is not transparent as used. There is always something not quite working “as advertised”.

### 4/5 — Gate

*2026-08-16, version 1.120.0*

Very nice having the security of a gate!

### 3/5 — Very annoying alerts

*2026-08-08, version 1.120.0*

Seriously? You play the obnoxious alert tone SIX times in a row! Follow the iOS conventions please.

### 3/5 — Was good but updates have been causing trouble since march

*2026-07-19, version 1.120.0*

It’s very useful, but something must have changed. I haven’t had the app record a visitor requesting access since march, and I know I’ve had people ping me. App gives a bunch of error messages when you go into certain areas. Please troubleshoot.

### 4/5 — Honest Review

*2026-07-18, version 1.120.0*

I absolutely love this app and everything it can do, which is super convenient. The only complaint I have is the saved codes for delivery and family/friend passes. If delivery actually uses the code (I usually watch most like DoorDash and open the gate when they are close), then it automatically expires. It doesn’t matter how long I set it to be active either.

When this happens, I have to create a new code and update it for every account using it (DoorDash, FedEx, UPS, Cook Unity, Amazon overnight deliveries, etc). I have reached out to the developer a couple of times and so has management where I reside. PLEASE FIX THIS RECURRING ISSUE. Thanks in advance!

### 5/5 — I Love Butterflies

*2026-07-14, version 1.119.0*

The fact that we get to see and hear people that we are allowing access to the building to is very comforting. We are giving access to not only ourselves, but to our neighbors as well.
It is an absolute game changer and has probably been around for a long time. Kudos to Wayfern and double kudos to the incredible team behind ButterflyMX!!

### 5/5 — Simplicity

*2026-07-13, version 1.119.0*

It’s a very simple app to use I’m never fumbling to try and open something and the ability to organize the doors/gates by how much I use them is amazing

### 1/5 — This is yet another thing that doesn’t need to be an app.

*2026-07-08, version 1.119.0*

I feel like the over convolution of an app that literally is just used to open. The door is bogus and childish. How is this any better than just giving people a key? Or heck a card with an NFC chip? I don’t care about this company enough to actually care more than this. Don’t waste your time or money on anything adjacent to this app. Goodbye you the fools at butterfly bs

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2026-07-08, version 1.119.0*

The best building improving

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work in rain

*2026-08-21, version 1.122.0*

The stupid code box doesn’t work in the rain and says all the pins are invalid on the touch screen

### 1/5 — Nonfunctional

*2026-08-18, version 1.121.0*

App is a black screen and crashes every time it is launched. Nonfunctional software

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2026-08-12, version 1.120.0*

Every time I go to the mail room it’s a hit or miss. Wish my building would just go back to using a key fob.

### 1/5 — Was good but updates have been causing trouble

*2026-08-11, version 1.120.0*

It won’t let me open the door anymore unless I’m nearby. Defeats the purpose of this app.

### 1/5 — Not good

*2026-08-11, version 1.120.0*

You need to go through and select whatever point you a trying to access and my building have over 50 different access points. It should be like latch where you just hold up your phone to the scanner and it lets you in - not stand there and search for an access point.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-08-07, version 1.120.0*

Now instead of tapping a keyfob I have to scroll through a list of doors and figure out what each one is named? 10x less convenient than keys. 100x worse than a keyfob.

### 1/5 — Trash

*2026-08-03, version 1.120.0*

Can’t open doors

### 1/5 — H

*2026-08-01, version 1.120.0*

We should be able to access camera without it being buzzed. People call me unsure how to use buzzer and I can’t let them in without seeing them.

### 1/5 — Sucks

*2026-07-11, version 1.119.0*

Internet is down so I can’t even get in. Customer support said I can use my pin. That doesn’t work either. Having the entrance of an office be internet reliable is insane! Especially when the internet is down. What then? I just have to wait outside until the internet comes back on? Not a good system.

### 1/5 — Not Working

*2026-07-11, version 1.119.0*

The app is frustratingly unavailable and has been for a while. I’m unable to create visitor or delivery passes or to update my preferences, settings, or even the app appearance. So odd to have a clunky app in the year 2026.

### 5/5 — The Best

*2026-07-27, version 1.120.0*

When we talk about levels in security applications we can name many brands, but when we talk about perfection we have to talk about Butterfly
