### 2/5 — Scan

*2026-09-01*

Le scan fonctionne une fois sur 3

### 3/5 — Prometteur! 🫶🏻

*2026-08-28*

### 3/5 — Scan problem

*2026-06-28*

The scan did not work for me.

### 3/5 — Won’t focus

*2026-06-05*

Since last update, the camera will still not focus on the bar code

### 3/5 — Won’t focus

*2026-05-22*

Since last update, the camera will not focus on the bar code

### 2/5 — Does not submit false info to authorities

*2025-10-15, version 2.0.4*

This app is only partially useful. The whole point of the Buy Canadian movement is to force retailers to provide accurate marketing information so Canadians can trust what they buy is Canadian when the product says it is.

This app needs to integrate with the Canadian Compensation Bureau to report false claims. We shouldn’t have to scan everything all the time to confirm if the label is accurate.

### 2/5 — Scans once then crashes?

*2025-08-24*

Tried the app. It scans once then closes. Tried to reload the app, same issue. (iOS 18.6.2) 😩

### 4/5 — excellent Idea

*2025-04-22*

I like the idea, but I miss how to add free text to a product review. For example, I just scanned the barcode from a can of roasted peanuts produced and sold by a German Company. But there is absolutely no information on the label, in what country theses peanuts have grown.

So how would I add this information to the apps database?

### 4/5 — Just some suggestions

*2025-04-14, version 2.0.2*

To facilitate populating the product database, please consider allowing the app to take multiple pictures of a single item (all sides of the product box, for example), then use text recognition to find out the brand, make, source ingredients, etc. The app can then ask the user to confirm the data before submitting.Y

### 4/5 — Not complete

*2025-03-17, version 1.4.1*

Needs more information. Not all products have been evaluated. We’ll wait to see what shows up.

### 3/5 — Impossible de lire au complet

*2025-03-16, version 1.4.1*

Il y a un début d'explication sur la provenance du produit mais quand on clique pour lire la suite, ça nous apporte à la section commentaire... on ne peut pas lire plus que quelques mots.

### 4/5 — Good, useful app

*2025-03-13, version 1.4.1*

While it’s a bit more cumbersome than a similar app, I still use it since its informations are quite clear and helpful

### 2/5 — Incorrect data

*2025-03-10*

Tends to blanket brands as all USA. Too many products are incorrect

### 3/5 — It's fine for a free app

*2025-03-07*

The annoying mandatory update when opening the app seems like a bad design choice. 2nd time and that's over for me. Deleted.

### 4/5 — Need a lot more input.

*2025-03-06, version 1.4.0*

A lot of items are not in the data base. But very good app

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2026-08-29*

Just won’t work

### 1/5 — Don’t have time to see resuly

*2026-02-09, version 2.0.4*

The product flashes up the result then crashes.
Problems with IOS 26?

### 1/5 — Nice Concept… Poor Execution

*2025-08-09, version 2.0.4*

Functionally, the problems are too numerous to address here. In addition, the database has far too many errors to be useful. There were so many items identified as Canadian products when, in reality, the actual product packaging clearly stated it was a “Product of USA”. Needs more work people, including a serious database cleanup.

### 1/5 — Not Supporting Canada

*2025-04-06, version 2.0.0*

They removed all Canadian affiliation from their app and reset all product data that people have added

### 1/5 — Inaccurate

*2025-03-10*

Some products made in NB are marked as “not very Canadian” or 3/5 for manufacturing location and there’s no explanation why. Relying on user input is not a good idea.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2025-02-28*

Relying on user data is deeply flawed, there is a lot of duplication of the same products with widely differing scores and info, and the scoring doesn’t make any sense.

Canadian subsidiaries of American or International companies are often indicated as being wholly Canadian. One example is Beatrice dairy, which is owned by Lactalis Canada, a subsidianry of The French company Lactalis. Most of the Beatrice product infos on the app indicate it is a Canadian company. This is because users are submitting information based on false assumptions or lazy searchs online.
The scoring for products is also flawed. The company origin score for non-Canadian companies can vary, sometimes 3/5, sometimes 1/5, whatever the reviewer determines. If a company is not Canadian, it should simply receive 1/5. Post or Kraft are American companies, not “kind of” American. They shouldn’t receive a 3/5 for this. Other American companies, like Coke or Lays are consistently scored 1/5 for this. Again, this is due to flawed user input that skews the final scores of products.

### 1/5 — Few products, incorrect information

*2025-02-21*

I tried this on items in the house until I found one it did get it was mainly wrong identifying an item made in Kitchener, of 100% canadian fruit, but owned by an international company, to be nearly zero canadian

### 1/5 — Not accurate

*2025-02-21*

Downloaded the app and the first item I scanned produced inaccurate/false information. Scanned the barcode for selection green relish and the results were a maple leaf with the words “great Canadian”. Label clearly says “product of India” and “imported for Metro Brand”.

Will continue to use the old school method of actually reading labels. Do not rely on the app.

### 1/5 — It’s doing some weird stuff

*2025-02-20, version 1.1.0*

I was under the assumption that No Name and French’s were both Canadian Brands…

### 1/5 — Too New?

*2025-02-19*

Any of the products I search for are not in the app. Very disappointing as there is a real need for an accurate app to identify Canadian products, or more specifically, to identify American products so I don’t buy them.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

*2025-04-26*

I use the App in Germany. It’s a Great idea, thank you

### 5/5 — Easy app

*2025-04-20, version 2.0.2*

Easy to use and you can submit products not rated for review

### 5/5 — Elbows up 🇨🇦

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2025-03-20, version 1.5.0*

Excellent and easy to use app. Any thoughts of placing it in the USA App Store or will it not work with outside of Canada? Thanks!

### 5/5 — Good App - easy to use

*2025-03-17, version 1.4.1*

Very easy to use - many products on app ( not just food) - easy to add products in a couple of minutes, if you find one with no information. It helps you to buy Canadian and more importantly avoid Made in the USA products

### 5/5 — Awesome app just what I was looking for

*2025-03-14, version 1.4.1*

This is a great app. Thanks for putting this together. I am sharing it with everyone.

### 5/5 — FDT

*2025-03-14, version 1.4.1*

That is all

### 5/5 — Just got it, great!

*2025-03-12, version 1.4.1*

I got this app after trying to find an alternative to a different app. I attempted using during a grocery shop today. I was mildly concerned the other app wasn’t run by Canadiens, so I went on a Internet search. Came across many articles in regards to the canadien cofounders of this app.
After just downloading it and trying it for the first time, I adore how it is organized, but I am so sad I can’t donate.
12/10 will recommend!

No I’m about to go scan and help add info on all the stuff I have!
