I have a new phone number and they keep trying to verify my information by sending a text or notification to my old phone number. If I had my old phone number then I wouldn’t need to update my personal information now would I Byline Bank? Their online banking system is extremely frustrating, and I’ve been locked out of my own account more times than I can count. Banking should not be this difficult, especially when people need access to their money and accounts without constant technical issues. What makes it even worse is the lack of after-hours support for online banking emergencies. In this day and age, being able to reach someone when there’s a serious access problem is mission-critical. At this point, I’m seriously considering moving my money elsewhere just to avoid the ongoing hassle. Slower and more nested menus so it’s harder to navigate. The bank as a whole has gone down hill over the years for personal use. New app update has locked me out of my account. There is no reason that I need to contact customer service when there is a forget password option on the login screen! Nobody has time to do that! I’ve been a customer since about 2012, will be switching banks. ### 1/5 — Avoid this bank *2025-05-20, version 6.0.250401* Byline Bank has got to be the worst institution I’ve ever banked with. Their new online banking app is absolutely terrible—completely useless. It locked me out the very first time I tried to use it, and now I’m unable to access my account unless I provide my Social Security number. I find it extremely uncomfortable and risky to share that kind of sensitive information through an app I don’t trust and that already failed me once. I strongly recommend staying away from this bank. It used to be a friendly, community-based institution—back when it was called North Community Bank. Back then, the staff knew your name and treated you like a neighbor. Now, every time I walk into a branch, I’m treated with suspicion, as if I have a third eye. One time, I simply asked to break a $10 bill, and they refused—demanding an ID—even though I’ve had an account there for years. That’s a far cry from a community bank. Between the terrible app, the invasive security requirements, and the unwelcoming in-person service, this bank is now absolutely useless.
