## What is BYOT Coding Agent?

BYOT is a native client for OpenCode, the open-source coding agent. Connect to the OpenCode server running on your own computer and drive coding sessions from your iPhone or iPad.

Browse projects and sessions, send prompts with photos or files, and watch assistant text, reasoning, and tool activity stream live. Inspect tool inputs, progress, output, and errors. Answer permission requests and questions from your server, queue follow-up prompts, and choose models from your server's catalog. Review session diffs when your server supports them.

Switch between saved servers, group sessions by project or browse them in one list, and find sessions by title, project, or path. Choose System, Light, or Dark appearance.

BYOT supports OpenCode 1 and OpenCode 2 beta servers with automatic protocol detection. Available features depend on the server version; some OpenCode 2 beta servers do not expose per-session diffs.

Your server does the work. BYOT renders its responses and sends your instructions over HTTPS. There is no BYOT account or sign-up, and BYOT has no analytics or tracking. Server passwords are stored in the iOS Keychain. Prompts and attachments are sent directly to the server you configure, which may use the model providers you have enabled there.

Requires an OpenCode server you operate, reachable over HTTPS, for example through Tailscale. BYOT is an independent client and is not affiliated with the OpenCode project.

### 5/5 — Perfect remote OpenCode portal

*2026-09-12*

Still a little buggy and green, but it appears to be getting weekly updates. Perfect app for me. Remote access through TailScale to an opencode server running in Proxmox. Works just like remote Codex.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.18 — 2026-09-14

This update expands your OpenCode workspace controls and improves messaging and navigation:

- Browse and read project files, search with @, and add files or selected line ranges as context.
- Find slash commands and choose a primary agent, model, or supported reasoning variant. Queued messages keep their selected settings.
- Undo and redo conversation turns, compact long conversations, and fork sessions when your server supports them.
- Rename and delete sessions, inspect session details, navigate child sessions, and follow task progress from your server.
- Select and copy part of a response or code block.
- Use compact Files, agent, and model-variant controls that stay accessible with larger text.
- Preview photos and documents before sending, preserve drafts, and queue messages containing only attachments.
- Enjoy cleaner project and session lists, improved session search, and more reliable server and model selection.

Includes a dedicated new-session page and refreshed app icon. OpenCode 1 and OpenCode 2 beta remain supported. Available controls depend on your server; OpenCode 2 conversation undo does not roll back workspace files.

### 1.0.13 — 2026-09-10

This update brings the latest TestFlight improvements to the App Store:

- Connect to OpenCode 1 and OpenCode 2 beta servers with automatic protocol detection.
- Attach photos and files to prompts.
- Choose System, Light, or Dark appearance, with improved contrast and larger-text layouts.
- Switch servers from the server bar and open sessions directly. Group sessions by project or browse a flat list, and sort by activity or recency.
- Search sessions from the bottom toolbar beside New session on iPhone running iOS 26 or later.
- More reliable session loading, fewer duplicate entries, and clearer recovery controls for stalled turns.

Available features depend on your OpenCode server. OpenCode 2 beta servers that do not expose per-session diffs show an explanation on the Changes screen.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-09-05

A smoother way to start a session, and better control while one is running.

• New session flow: the compose button opens a draft chat with Server and Project pickers built in — choose where the session runs and send your first message in one step.
• Stop a running turn: tap stop while OpenCode is working. A queued message stays paused for you to send manually instead of firing automatically.
• Add a project by path: point at any directory on your server without leaving the app.
• Per-server default model: the model you picked last is preselected for new sessions on that server.
• Faster session list: servers load progressively, so one slow or unreachable machine no longer blocks the whole list.
• Clearer connection errors, including servers behind HTTP Basic authentication, plus a readable message when a server runs the unsupported OpenCode 2 beta.
• Editing a server now prefills its saved name, URL, and username.
• Refined composer: the model picker stays anchored and lays out correctly on iPad and at large text sizes.
