## What is Cache?

Cache turns your phone into a card collection powerhouse. Faster scans, fewer wrong answers, quicker eBay listings — and your photos never leave your device.
Scan any trading card — baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer, Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and One Piece — and the workflow handles itself. From shoebox to listed in under a minute.
SCAN IN SECONDS
Point your camera at a card. Cache reads the printed text directly using on-device OCR — player, year, set, card number, parallel — and identifies the card against a complete checklist database. No cloud upload. No fabricated answers. Just the text that's actually on the card. Works with raw cards and graded slabs from PSA, BGS, SGC, and CGC.
KNOW WHAT IT'S WORTH
One tap pulls real-time eBay sold comps so you know exactly what your cards are selling for. See the low, median, and high across recent sales. Browse individual comps inside the app.
LIST ON EBAY INSTANTLY
Connect your eBay account once. Cache generates a complete listing — title, description, item specifics, condition, and pricing — built from your scan data and current market prices. Review it, tap list, done.
ORGANIZE YOUR COLLECTION
Every card you scan is saved to your personal database with photos, details, and estimated values. Search, filter, and sort. See your total portfolio value and watch it move over time.
TRACK YOUR PORTFOLIO
Interactive charts show how your collection is trending. Cache refreshes estimated values from live market data, so you always know where you stand.
BUILD YOUR WISHLIST
Add the cards you're hunting. Cache watches the market and tells you when one shows up.
PRIVACY BY DESIGN
Cache reads your cards entirely on your phone. Card recognition runs on-device using Apple's Vision framework — your photos are never uploaded, never sent to a third-party AI, and never used to train a model. The only thing that leaves your device is the parsed text when you request market comps or generate an eBay listing. You stay in control.
WHAT YOU GET
Everything. Cache is completely free — unlimited scans, eBay integration, live market pricing, wishlist, portfolio tracking, and backup. No subscription, no upsells, no catch.
Cache is built by collectors, for collectors. No bloat, no social feeds, no noise — just the tools you need to manage, price, and sell your cards.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.1 — 2026-09-12

Cache Pro is now free for everyone.
Every paid feature — unlimited scans, eBay integration and listing generation, live market pricing, wishlist alerts, portfolio tracking, and backup — is now included for every collector, free. No subscription, no upsells.
If you were a Pro subscriber: thank you for backing an indie app. Your subscription will simply stop renewing — you keep everything, along with everyone else.
Also in this update: bug fixes and performance improvements.

### 2.0 — 2026-05-04

Cache 2.0 — A new way to scan
We replaced the card-scanning engine. Instead of asking an AI to look at the photo and guess what's on it, Cache 2.0 reads the actual text printed on your card using on-device OCR — the same technology behind iOS Live Text. Faster, more accurate, and it works without sending your photos anywhere.
What's new:

Rebuilt scan engine reads what's printed on the card, not what an AI thinks it sees
Player names, card numbers, years, sets, and teams are extracted directly from the printed text
SSP photo variations and same-number variants are now identifiable by the unique code Topps prints on every back
Faster scans, fewer wrong answers, and your photos never leave your device

### 1.5 — 2026-04-25

Cache 1.5 — What's New

- Smarter parallel identification. When Cache infers a parallel from card numbering (like Gold Foil /399) rather than reading it directly off the card, it now tells you. An orange VERIFY chip and a plain-English hint appear right on the field so you always know what the app read vs. what it figured out.
- eBay comps that never come up empty. The comp engine now searches in five progressive tiers — exact match first, then widening out to same product/same denomination, then same product any parallel, then player + year. If there's no exact sold listing, you still see useful market data with a clear label explaining what you're looking at.
- Cleaner cold starts. Eliminated ~50 lines of orange log noise on every install. TestFlight crash logs are now actually useful.

### 1.4.1 — 2026-04-22

Version 1.4!!

- Smarter card scanning — the scanner now uses product-specific visual cues to identify cards more accurately. Fewer wrong guesses, better parallel detection, and a fix for year and card number misreads on Topps Series 1.
- Player stats from the source — career stats now pull live from official league APIs instead of being read off the card back. Baseball and hockey stats link directly to Baseball-Reference, Hockey-Reference, and more.
- Marketplace coming soon — the marketplace section now shows what's coming: scan-to-list, AI-verified listings, real comps, and no listing fees or final-value fees. Tap to join the waitlist and be first in when it opens.
- Database search unified — one search now finds players across your collection, prospects, and the full card universe. Your cards surface first.
Scan experience improved — the app now correctly shows that your card is captured and being analyzed, instead of implying you need to keep holding it in frame.

P.S. 1.4.1 (Thanks for your patience, both users and review team for the rapid-fire updates) but 1.4.1 is pretty impactful, and this should be it for awhile:
Additional fixes in this update:
— Smarter scan corrections: the app now cross-references scan results against the card checklist database. If Vision misreads a player name, the checklist catches it and corrects it silently. A gold confirmation banner shows when your card was verified against the database.
— Parallel names are now product-specific. "Gold Foil /399" on a 2025 Topps Series 1 card is now named correctly from the product's parallel ladder, not a generic fallback.
— Year is now sourced from the copyright line on the card back, not the stats table. No more 2024 showing up on a 2026 card.
— Back scan now re-reads identity fields independently instead of echoing the front scan result, reducing hallucination carry-through.
