## What is Cadence Mobile App?

Cadence is unit-management software for military bands. It replaces the mix of spreadsheets, group texts, shared drives, and paper forms that most units run on with one place for everything tracked between drill weekends.

WHAT MEMBERS USE IT FOR

See the events you are rostered on, with your report time, location, and who to find when you get there. Mark yourself present. Request an absence and watch it move up your chain of command, with the reason, the approver, and the decision all on the record. Complete required training and upload your certificates. Acknowledge tasks from HR/Admin and keep your contact details current. See the equipment and keys you have signed for. Read unit announcements, answer polls, and message your section.

WHAT LEADERS AND ADMINISTRATORS USE IT FOR

Build the drill calendar and see at a glance which events still need work: no roster, soldiers with no seat in the convoy, paperwork nobody has started. Take accountability at formation on a screen built to be used while holding a clipboard. Approve absence requests in turn. Assign training and tasks to a squad, a platoon, or the whole band at once. Issue supply, keys, and instruments with signed hand receipts, and keep a key control register. Write counselings and follow up on them. Plan family events and keep the Family Readiness Group's accounts, down to a reconciled monthly balance.

HOW UNITS ARE SET UP

Cadence is organized by unit. Each band is its own tenant, with its own roster, calendar, records, and administrators, and no unit can see another's data. There is no public sign-up: a unit administrator creates accounts and decides which areas each member can reach, and most screens show a member only their own records.

If your band would like a unit set up, get in touch at the support address below and we will add you.

BUILT AROUND HOW UNITS ACTUALLY WORK

Chain of command is a real structure in the app, not a label. Absence requests route through the squad, platoon, and first sergeant who actually hold those positions. Leaders see their own soldiers. Records that need a signature capture a real one. Anything that would normally be a form somebody has to remember to file becomes a task with a name and a date on it.

SECURITY

Sign-in requires two-factor authentication with an authenticator app. Face ID and Touch ID are supported once you have signed in with a password. Home addresses and emergency contacts are visible only to the member, their chain of command, and their unit's administrators.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.4 — 2026-10-23

New
• In chats there's a new GIF button that searches for GIFs (rated PG) and sends the one you pick just like a photo.
• For shop admins: you can now share a web link as a resource, not just a file. Links sit in the same folders, can be opened or copied, and their address can be changed later if the page moves.
• For leaders who send counselings: a "Copy to a new counseling" button starts a fresh counseling from an existing one — what it says, its counselor and who it goes to, all ready to edit before you send. This also lets you counsel the person who gave a counseling, since they otherwise have no copy of their own.
• For unit admins: a new "App versions" screen shows each member's latest app version and the device they last used.

Improved
• For unit admins: feature switches to turn GIFs in chat and usage analytics on or off.

Fixed
• A photo, GIF or file sent without a caption now shows up in the chat list and sends a notification, instead of being quietly dropped.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-10-23

New
• Shops (HR/Admin, Library, Logistics, Operations, Training) can now send a counseling to one, several, or all soldiers at once. A shop member signs it as counselor, then each soldier reads it, agrees or disagrees, adds remarks, and signs.
• Company, platoon, and squad group chats now keep up with your unit automatically — move to a new squad or platoon and you leave the old chat and join the new one.

Improved
• When writing a counseling you can now set the approach (non-directive, combined, or directive) and the type of counseling (General Form, Professional Growth, Performance, or Event Oriented). Counselings written before this print as General Form.
• Dates and reminders now follow your unit's own time zone instead of always Eastern, so form dates, drill days, fiscal year, and daily reminders are correct for units outside the Eastern time zone.
• For app admins: a new tool puts everyone into the company, platoon, and squad chats they belong to, without having to remove people from their squad and add them back.

Fixed
• Key and lock register dates now land on the correct day — an evening key issue no longer shows up on the next day's line.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-10-22

New
• For unit admins: your unit can now be set to its own time zone — any US zone, plus UTC — instead of everyone running on Eastern time. Dates and times throughout the app follow it.

Fixed
• Dates and times on printed paperwork — absence and EBDL request forms, pay rosters, sign-in sheets, counseling forms, hand receipts, lock registers, distance packets, and training, ledger and after-action reports — now show in your unit's time zone, so an evening event or signature no longer lands on the wrong day.
• Drills now show the same number of MUTAs for everyone, no matter what time zone a person's phone is set to. (A two-day Battle Assembly could previously show six MUTAs for some people and four for others.)
• A drill keeps the exact days it was held on even if the unit later changes its time zone.
• Due dates on paperwork now print on the date they're actually due rather than slipping to the day before.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-21

New
• See your own attendance for a whole fiscal year — the code recorded for each drill MUTA, your totals, and the make-ups you still owe.
• Track your points toward a good year and what you can still earn.
• Sign in for a drill MUTA on your own phone, or your leader's, while the roster is open.
• Mark your excused absence or RST approved or not approved in IPPS-A yourself, with the approval date and request number — no need to wait for HR.
• Change an absence request you've already sent; it goes back through your chain to be signed again.
• Follow the full step-by-step history of your absence request — who did what, and when.
• The app icon now shows a badge for things that need you.
• For unit admins: print a final pay roster.

Improved
• New sorting and filtering options on rosters.
• While a MUTA roster is open, a "present" now comes from the soldier signing in.
• For leaders: recording "excused, RST scheduled" now needs an approved RST plan; only HR can record it without one, and must give a reason.
• For HR: you're told when a soldier records an IPPS-A decision, and can correct it if it's wrong.

Fixed
• Fixed signing in for a class.
