## What is Cadentia?

Cadentia puts the tools a musician reaches for every day into one app, and splits any song into four stems inside the iPhone itself. Tuner, metronome, drums, piano, tablature and recorder all work with the phone in airplane mode.

A TUNER THAT DOESN'T WOBBLE
Pitch detection through the YIN algorithm, accurate to about one cent. The ring runs red, amber, green; the note sits in the middle and the deviation in cents just above it. Reference pitch goes from 415 to 466 Hz, for orchestra players and period instruments. There is also Analyse tuning: play for up to a minute and see how much of it you spent in tune.

A METRONOME THAT DOESN'T DRIFT
The click is scheduled on the audio clock, not the screen clock, so it still lands where it should after ten minutes. Time signatures from 2/4 to 7/8, subdivisions, polyrhythm, tap tempo, a microphone BPM detector and a practice timer. It plays through the silent switch, which is half the reason to build a metronome natively.

REAL DRUMS AND A REAL PIANO
The pads and the keys don't fire samples: the sound is synthesised as you play, with Bessel-mode membranes on the drums and true inharmonicity on the piano. In practice: how hard you hit changes the timbre, not just the volume. Sixteen-step sequencer, 25 ready grooves, a vertical multitouch keyboard, 77 chords and 144 scales.

TABLATURE WITH A BAND BEHIND IT
Open and edit multitrack tablature with bass, drums and 48 backing tracks. It is the same .rostab file you write in RoqueOS in the browser: back and forth, nothing to convert.

MULTITRACK RECORDER
Play over what you already recorded, with Apple's echo cancellation and noise reduction. The timeline actually edits: trim, split, fade, pan, undo. Export the mix as M4A when you're done.

STEM SEPARATION
Pick a song and Cadentia splits it into four tracks (vocals, bass, drums and everything else) with a model that runs inside your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, and you can practise over what's left. You can queue a whole playlist at once: separation keeps running with the app closed and progress shows in the Dynamic Island.

STRINGS: PLAY IN THE AIR
Guitar, electric guitar, cavaquinho, ukulele, mandolin and bass by physical modelling — every string is computed, not a pasted recording. The front camera reads both your hands and you pluck and shape chords without touching the screen. No image ever leaves the device. You can also play with the strings fixed on screen, no camera at all.

YOUR LIBRARY, IF YOU WANT IT
If you use RoqueOS, you can pair Cadentia with your account using a short code and play the music already there. It is the only part of the app that uses the internet, and it is optional: without pairing, everything else works the same.

No ads, no charge, no in-app purchases. In 10 languages.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.16.0 — 2026-08-22

Strings: guitar, electric guitar, cavaquinho, ukulele, mandolin and bass by physical modelling — every string is computed, note by note, instead of being a pasted recording. Play the neck, pick chords, or play in the air with both hands read by the camera. No image ever leaves the device.

Separate a whole playlist at once. Pick several songs and put the phone away: separation keeps running with Cadentia closed, and progress shows in the Dynamic Island with a cancel button.

Real recorded sound for guitar, bass, piano, organ and drums, selectable instrument by instrument under More → Sound. Seven public-domain banks, credited inside the app.

The tuner gained 49 tunings, searchable by band and by artist.

Fixed: the app closed when moving from the first song of a list to the second; the bass sounded slapped instead of picked; the drums screen froze on open; and the app went silent after a phone call.

### 1.14.0 — 2026-08-07

Cadentia now plays music from your RoqueOS library. Connect once, with a one-tap approval in the RoqueOS app, and bring tracks from your Google Drive and the server's shared folder straight into instrument separation. Plus a more stable connection to the server.

### 1.13.0 — 2026-08-06

No release notes.
