## What is Cadexa?

A coach in your ear, and a trainer that does the maths.

Cadexa controls your smart trainer in ERG mode, watches your heart rate and talks only when it matters. Structured indoor workouts, real routes replayed as gradient, and easy days on foot. Everything runs on your phone, works offline, and there is no subscription.

WORKOUTS THAT SCALE TO YOU
• 4 × 4 VO2max, 30/15s, threshold, sweet spot, endurance and recovery. Every target comes from your FTP and your effort setting, so the same session works at 70 % on a tired day.
• Just ride: pick your watts, no structure, end when you like.
• A running 4 × 4 and an easy run, coached by heart rate.
• Easy walk, hill walk, recovery stroll and an open-ended mountain hike, with distance, pace and climbing from your phone's GPS. The screen locks itself, so nothing is tapped by accident in your pocket.

A COACH, NOT A CHEERLEADER
• Spoken cues at the moments that matter: the next interval, one minute left, a heart rate that is still climbing, a cadence that is dropping. Calm or energetic, your choice.
• Power is the primary target for intervals; heart rate is context. Cadexa waits for your heart rate to respond before it says anything about it.
• A training partner that reads your history and suggests today's session with a reason you can disagree with.

REAL ROUTES INDOORS
• Import a GPX or TCX from Strava, Komoot or RideWithGPS and the trainer replays the hills.
• The next kilometre of road on screen, colour-coded by gradient. The coach calls climbs by time, warns before steep kicks and tells you when to shift down.
• Climbs are called by name: “two kilometres at 12 percent, up to Ulriken”, and then “that's Ulriken, over the top”.
• Ride against your own best time on a route, and send a route to a friend as a GPX file.

HEART RATE, DONE PROPERLY
• Estimated max, observed peak and your own alert threshold are kept apart. Cadexa never invents a limit for you.
• On medication that lowers your heart rate? Tell Cadexa. Zones then follow the heart rate you actually reach, not an age formula.
• Heart Mode for riders training under medical advice: a quick check-in before each session, an “I don't feel right” control that eases the trainer off at once, calmer cues, and a plain-text report you can share with your clinician.

AFTERWARDS
• Sync to Strava with a map for outdoor sessions.
• A share card with a map of where you went, your own photo behind it, and the numbers that matter.
• A fitness estimate that updates from your rides, no test required. Or run the max heart rate test when you want one.

WORKS WITH
Any smart trainer that supports the FTMS Bluetooth standard (Wahoo KICKR, Tacx, Elite, Saris, Zwift Hub and more) and any Bluetooth heart-rate sensor. A simulator lets you try everything without hardware.

Cadexa is a training app, not a medical device. It does not diagnose or treat any condition. Follow the guidance you have been given by your doctor, and stop if you feel unwell.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.1 — 2026-09-24

Named places on your routes
• Import a route and Cadexa learns the names along it. The coach now says “two kilometres at 12 percent, up to Ulriken”, “Ulriken in 150 metres” and “that's Ulriken, over the top” instead of just “the top”. Junctions and viewpoints get a quieter heads-up of their own.
• Names come from the route file where it carries them, and otherwise from a place-name lookup done once while importing. It is off in one tap under Profile → Privacy.

A share card worth sharing
• The card now leads with a map of where you went, your own photo behind it, and three big numbers instead of nine small ones.
• Every ride you have already recorded gets the new card. Open it in History and tap Share ride card.

Send a route to a friend
• Share any imported route as a GPX file from the route screen. They open it in Cadexa, Komoot or a bike computer. Routes you brought in from Strava are shared as a Strava link instead.

Pocket lock
• Runs and walks now lock the screen a few seconds after the start, and again after every unlock. The numbers stay visible, nothing can be tapped by a thigh or a jacket, and a short hold unlocks it. Trainer rides have a padlock in the corner for when you want it.

Strava
• A slow upload is no longer called a failure. Cadexa waits for Strava to finish and says so while it is working.
• Syncing a ride that already made it through now finds the activity instead of reporting an error.
• A clearer message when Strava has no free connection slots for Cadexa.

Fixes
• Photos you add to a ride or a route now survive an app update.

Privacy
Cadexa now counts which workouts are started and finished and which features are used, so we know what is worth improving. It is anonymous, never includes heart rate, location, names or photos, and you can switch it off under Profile → Privacy.
