### 4/5 — Awesome App

*2026-08-17, version 6.0.2*

The app is exactly as described, full featured, and replaces more expensive directors view finders. From what I’ve seen so far, it has been completely accurate. The only thing that I did notice is that it does not have the 7Artisans Spectrum cinema lenses included in the list so I am unable to get an accurate representation of the equipment I own. with a plethora of independent filmmakers out there it seems like a no-brainer than more of the budget line cinema equipment would be available in the app. Because many of them, like myself, can’t afford the $40,000 lenses.

### 5/5 — Ngon

*2026-07-24, version 6.0.1*

Quá ngon mà nhà sản xuất ơi em phải để dành xuýt xoa lắm để mua app ấy ạ

### 5/5 — Outstanding

*2026-07-21, version 6.0.1*

I use this regularly, and love the functionality I’ve come to rely on during scouting. What finally pushed me over the edge to write a review is the new sun location feature. It was remarkably well designed.

### 5/5 — This is a grate app. But, ....

*2026-07-19, version 6.0.1*

This is a grate application.

### 2/5 — Lack of essential features

*2026-07-16, version 6.0.1*

The App does not support vertical orientation, it forces you to work horizontally all the time. This already significantly limits the possibilities of framing your scene. What’s even worse, it doesn’t sync among other devices, for example it won’t sync your library from the iPhone, which you’re most likely be using to capture the scene because if it’s superior camera system, to the iPad version of the App, which would be the best option to evaluate the results. As judging the frame effectively on a tiny phone screen is close to impossible the lack of this feature hugely limits it’s usefulness. Both issues have been reported to the developer years ago with none of them having been addressed so far…

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2026-07-16, version 5.8.1*

### 5/5 — best app

*2026-07-13, version 6.0*

Best app overall on the market

### 5/5 — Pro Tool for Cinematographers

*2026-07-12, version 6.0*

This app is a must have for any working DP.
From scouting and prep the workflow is essential in any production.
On set this is the go to app to view and block any scene with reliable and easy access to many camera / lens pairings.
Worth the small price considering its wide application.

### 5/5 — Good

*2026-07-11, version 5.8.1*

Good

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2026-07-11, version 5.8.1*

Excellent! Just does everything perfectly

### 4/5 — A great tool

*2026-07-11, version 6.0*

The Sun information is a great addition to the app. However, the graphical information is only visible when the Sun is actually in shot. If you are looking through the viewfinder and the Sun is above or outside the frame, the app indicates its position, but once the image is recorded, that information is no longer shown.

This makes the feature far less useful, as most people will not usually be filming directly into the Sun. It would be much more practical if the recorded image retained an indicator showing the Sun’s position outside the frame.

It would also be very useful to display the sunrise and sunset times.

### 5/5 — Use it every day

*2026-06-14, version 5.8*

I am a camera Op in Chicago. I use this app every day on set. 10/10

### 5/5 — Full belter

*2026-05-07, version 5.7.5*

Invaluable!!!

Cooke

*2026-05-05, version 5.7.6*

Cooke Anastigmat 15mm f/2,5

### 5/5 — Everything perfect but

*2026-04-26, version 5.7.5*

Everything works perfectly. Could you add DCI for Sony FX3?

### 5/5 — Fantastic app

*2026-04-25, version 5.7.5*

I have never left a comment on the app store even after many years of owning an iphone. This Cadrage app is one of the best app I had the pleasure of interacting with. A++

### 4/5 — Really nice app.

*2026-04-24, version 5.7.5*

I’ve only just started using this app, and there are several things I really like about it, like the number of camera & lens options. Setting it up to be a faithful reproduction of the images I will get from my Canon C 500 Mark II using Canon prime lenses was easy. It’s also easy to add custom focal lengths, but I didn’t find a way to name the custom lenses, like our newly acquired Russian Helios. Perhaps I need to dig a little deeper.

One thing I hope they will add in upcoming versions, is a very quick, simple, and intuitive way to switch back-and-forth between the image library, and the camera, I have not found a quick way to do that. At this point, that is my only real complaint. I’ll try to leave an updated review, after I’ve used it on a large project.

I have several other, “directors finder,“ type apps, but at this point, Cadrage is my favorite.

### 5/5 — Exzellent

*2026-04-09, version 5.7.4*

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Field of view is not accurate AT ALL

*2026-08-20, version 6.0.2*

The entire premise of ANY directors viewfinder is you get an accurate preview without hauling a camera around. The field of view on this is not accurate at all.

I prepped with the app, then on shoot day, we had to entirely change a shot because the camera couldn’t be on the process trailer. It had to be 3 feet further back to get the shot we wanted, which put us on the trailer hitch. Complete waste of money. Go with one that is industry standard if you actually have a film with budget.

### 1/5 — Just an Artemis imitation

*2026-08-05, version 6.0.1*

I used this app on the advice of another DP. I was told it was better than Artemis, which I have been using for years now. They were wrong. Cadrage is basically a blatant copy of Artemis, just not as comprehensive. It seems that every new feature added in Artemis is soon copied by the Cadrage developers. I think I’ll stick with Artemis.

### 1/5 — No DOF simulation

*2025-06-29, version 5.6.8*

I bought Cadrage hoping it would let me preview not just framing, but also depth of field. It doesn’t. There’s no DOF simulation at all, which is critical for planning portraits and cinematic shots. As soon as I saw how limited it was, I regretted the purchase. If you’re looking for a true depth of field preview, this app isn’t it.

### 1/5 — Cannot turn on framelines

*2025-03-16, version 5.6.7*

Bug

### 1/5 — Application is not working

*2024-10-17, version 5.6.2*

I just bought the application in the middle of a recce and it literally doesn't open! It crashes as soon it's opened. Complete waste of money!

*2023-08-05, version 5.4.4*

### 1/5 — German crap

*2022-07-31, version 5.2.3*

Purchased as everyone hyped about it for location scouting. Did a scout for a client but the export to PDF does not work properly. In the film world you need to deliver without fail and time is money so it cost me dearly. I this industry we have zero time to email support back and forth. Doesn’t save in native vertical position either. Very disappointed

*2021-06-16, version 5.1.3*

### 1/5 — Too expensive for what it does.

*2021-03-16, version 4.5*

For $20 you would expect that the lens picked would fill up the full screen for deciding what lenses to use. But not all lenses you choose fill up the full screen. I also think this is closer to a $5-10 app not $20. A bit disappointed.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2026-08-20, version 6.0.2*

Loved the app

### 5/5 — Carlos

*2026-08-16, version 6.0.2*

### 5/5 — The best viewfinder/lens focal length app out there!

*2026-08-16, version 6.0.2*

As the title says, this app enables you to input almost any camera and lens combination, taking into account sensor size. The app lets you see the field of view that the selected combination provides.

I should add that I’m a stills photographer (I don’t go near video), and the app is by far the best I have found for my needs of previewing a scene with different combinations of input.

### 5/5 — so good

*2026-08-12, version 6.0.2*

im a professional dp and I use this to scout every project.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-07-31, version 6.0.1*

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-07-29, version 6.0.1*

Stable app, very useful to get accurate framings with different setups, make notes, get gps infos…

Sleek and intuitive. Plus the addition of the AR sun tracking is a blessing. 100% recommanded
