### 2/5 — Great concept, rocky execution

*2023-07-23*

Between the Home Screen Widget, the app’s History list, and the app’s Today screen I just saw 3 different values. Only one set was accurate. This eventual consistency is something I’ve been waiting a full OS release on before commenting to ensure any benefits or bug fixes solved it outside RECaf. This would be an easy 4 or 5 stars if it the data was 100% reliable and consistent at all times. There’s no watch usage in the mix, I do use a shortcut action to do the logging.

(Months later this continues to fail and be unreliable, canceled subscription since it doesn’t meet my needs)

### 2/5 — Favorites Crashing

*2023-02-25, version 2023.3*

I am unable to add a favorite. Clicking the heart or “add” the favorites section causes the whole app to crash.

### 3/5 — Great concept, rocky execution

*2022-11-06, version 2021.5*

### 3/5 — Lots of potential

*2021-08-03, version 2021.2*

I used it for a few months and was great to find out how much I was actually having. The UI was quite good and I appreciated the ‘fewest taps to log something’ approach. However, the ‘forgot to log something’ would show but never actually log anything and sync between watch and phone was very sporadic at best! It still needs work.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2021-01-06, version 2020.7*

Can’t log anything unless you pay for a subscription

### 1/5 — Paywall

*2021-01-06, version 2020.7*

For the base idea of this app to log caffeine, you can’t even log a single item until you subscribe. App went straight in the bin.

### 1/5 — Misleading

*2020-12-20, version 2020.7*

App is in no way free. They force you until a free 14 day trial for the app to even be usable (ie log caffeine). I thought this was against the apple TOS?

### 1/5 — Not free

*2020-11-24, version 2020.6*

Currently doesn’t do anything without trial/payment. Try using it to log caffeine, you can’t log anything other than seeing the free trial screen.

### 3/5 — Interesting

*2020-11-23, version 2020.6*

Cool app. Doesn’t include common Australian names for coffees (flat white, long black, piccolo latte, etc) which makes it harder to know which to select. $16 is a very heavy price for a caffeine tracker, I think for the app it would make more sense at $3 or $4/year and aim to get many subscribers.

### 1/5 — Ridiculous

*2020-10-26, version 2020.3*

Quite why the app is free to download I don’t know. You can’t do a single thing in the app unless you pay the £10 annual fee. This app should not be free on the App Store as you can do nothing in it unless you pay. Also £10 per annum is extortionate for something as simple as this. This app is not at all desservant of the money it asks for - you can do all of it’s features for free elsewhere.

### 1/5 — Bad app and service

*2020-09-23, version 2020.3*

App is very buggy. Shortcuts don’t work at all. Developer completely unresponsive to support requests. And I’m a paying customer. Sad.

### 1/5 — Charges for basic

*2020-09-12*

Another one of those apps that requires a subscription to track basic things like caffeine. Which is the sole purpose of the app but who would pay $10 at all to track how much caffeine they’re drinking. One can’t use it at all unless you pay. It does nothing special that other free apps do as well. didn’t even use the app for one day, I immediately deleted it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Glitchy

*2025-06-29, version 2025.1*

App worked twice before glitching. Unable to log caffeine after those first uses.

### 1/5 — I have to pay to use this?!

*2023-07-29, version 2023.4*

Not doing it. If I could, I would give -5 stars.

### 1/5 — Deceiving app

*2023-07-18, version 2023.4*

You can’t actually use the app at all without paying. Super deceiving!

### 1/5 — Should not be a free to download. Need to subscribe instantly to use it at all.

*2021-09-20, version 2021.3*

If you’re looking for a free tracker where you can pay to unlock extra features or charts or there is an option to subscribe later for more data don’t bother with this. You must subscribe instantly to even use the app at all. Waste of space.

### 1/5 — This is NOT what I’m looking for

*2021-06-14, version 2021.2*

I think the paywall you have set up is very absurd. If the user doesn’t want to pay then there is zero functionality available. That’s really shady

### 1/5 — 1 star

*2021-06-10, version 2021.2*

This app is ridiculous, the only way to use the app or even log coffee is buy paying there is no access for people who don’t pay for the yearly subscription. May as well use the Apple health app.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2021-06-01, version 2021.2*

Does not offer any free functionality

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

*2021-05-23, version 2021.2*

You can’t even sample a free version.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2021-02-01, version 2020.7*

You can’t even add a single drink or do anything unless you subscribe. Don’t waste your time, there are better apps out there. This is pathetic, how did it pass the app review process.

### 1/5 — Not a free app

*2021-01-28, version 2020.7*

Well it is free to download, if you want to actually use the app you have to pay $10/year. I’m not paying that much just to be able to log caffeine

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2024-05-09*

This is what an app should be. Simple, low cost for exactly what I need. The easiest way to track caffeine, period. It keeps track of your average and let’s you know when you’re going over. Plus, it’ll give you a buzz if you forgot to track some caffeine when you usually do, so you never forget! The Watch app is particularly slick and easy to use. I use this every day and it’s been huge for helping me manage my caffeine intake. Can’t recommend highly enough.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2023-01-26, version 2022.4*

It’s just easy. I get the benefit of tracking with so little overhead.

### 5/5 — Helpful.

*2022-10-21*

Very convenient. Gives reminders about usage. Large data base on drinks. Works wonderful.
Worth the yearly subscription.

### 5/5 — Unique outstanding Design app!

The Developer has put a great deal of hard work and love into the making of this app! How do you know look at the number of updates that has been made to make it better for you myself and our family. Yes the app cost money, but today’s Technology is not free it’s expensive! I have always found something you want to keep that is special and use every day cost. I use this app every day it’s special and it helps my Health greatly as it will for you and your family. I hope if you read this you will download this app and give it a try. ### 5/5 — Great app for tracking how much coffee you drink

*2021-10-19, version 2021.4*

A few things I like:
Nice UI.
No annoying notifications.
Light on system resources and doesn’t take too much space.

### 5/5 — LOVE RECaf app!

*2020-12-09*

RECaf is great for people who are caffeine sensitive or just want to know how caffeine might be impacting their health. Using RECaf brings awareness of how much caffeine I’m drinking/eating (chocolate!) every day. Before using this app I took in more caffeine than I’d imagined. Seeing the amount of caffeine, ex 50 mg, made made me realize that having over a certain amount per day contributes to sleep problems. So now I can track my caffeine making sure I drink 50 mg or less to sleep well. Or, if I’m ok with staying up a little later than usual I can have another latte.

### 5/5 — Like the app but need help when it won’t log the full mg content in its entirety

*2020-09-28*

When I first downloaded this app i really enjoyed it because I was able to track my caffeine intake throughout the day. The problem is that sometimes instead of recording the amount of caffeine in it’s entirety it only does record like 0.8 or lower of caffeine for each drink I input. In order to fix this I have to erase all my drinks and reinput them all and then it’s fixed. Don’t know why it’s doing this but need help desperately

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed

*2020-09-10, version 2020.2*

I wanted something to help me gradually wean off caffeine and this app is perfect for my needs - simple, quick & clear.

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2020-08-26*

I’ve never used a caffeine tracking app before, but I’ve used many other tracking apps and this one does it right. It’s super easy to add your own caffeine sources if necessary, and super easy to log consumption on my watch. Well done!

### 5/5 — very good. nice app with good watch support

*2020-05-06, version 2019.15*

thank you for this. a couple suggestions
1. make a native ipad app. you allow icloud backup so an ipad app can read and write the icloud data. streaks works on ipad and ipad does not have health data but it syncs via icloud
2. you can not only write caffeine to the health app but also liquid/water consumed
3. i understand subscriptions. however an app like this should have have a lifetime price tag since i am only paying for features and development. $14.95 for lifetime seems fair
