## What is Cajun Bourre?

Bourré — The Cajun Card Game

Straight from the bayou, Bourré is the fast-moving trick-taking card game that has been a staple of Louisiana card tables for generations. Now you can bring that same energy right to your iPhone.

How It Works

Every hand starts fresh: five cards are dealt, and one card is turned face-up to set the trump suit. Decide whether to play your hand or sit the round out. If you're in, you can swap out any cards you don't like and draw fresh ones before the tricks begin.

Play your five tricks, following suit when you can. The trump card beats everything else, and the player who wins the most tricks takes the kitty. But watch out — if you chose to play and didn't win a single trick, you've gone Bourré. That means you lose points equal to the kitty, which either pads the winner's take or carries forward to seed the next hand — growing the stakes with it. One bad round can flip the standings in a hurry.

First player to reach the target score wins. Fall behind — even into negative points — and it's just a bigger hole to climb out of; nobody's ever knocked out of the game.
