Read the book before it’s published to the world. Calamus Reader is where writers share their books early, beta reads and advance copies, with readers who love to read them first. Join free, tell us the genres you love, and look along the shelf for authors with books on the way. EARLY COPIES, BY INVITATION Request an invite to a beta read or an advance copy, or join an author’s list to hear first when they have something new. Writers choose their readers, and when one invites you, the book lands on your shelf with the date they would love your thoughts by. READ IT YOUR WAY Open the book as its writer designed it, or switch to plain text. Set the type size, the page width, scroll or turn pages, choose your paper and your own highlight color. We keep your place, so you can stop on your iPhone and pick up on your iPad, or in your browser, exactly where you left off. SCRIBBLE IN THE MARGINS Highlight the line you loved. Leave a comment. Choose from eighteen reactions, from “Laughed” to “Couldn’t put it down”. On iPad, draw along a line with Apple Pencil to mark it. Every note you leave is listed beside the book, and tapping one takes you straight back to those words. YOUR NOTES GO STRAIGHT TO THE WRITER Everything you mark goes to the writer of that book, filed beside the chapter it belongs to. When you reach the end, or whenever you are ready, Finish and respond lets you send one note about the book as a whole. FREE FOR READERS A reader’s account costs nothing, now or later.
