It also tries to save if you leave your finger on the screen too long. It also asks you every five minutes if you want to upgrade. ### 3/5 — Needs updating in order to open on iPad *2017-05-02, version 4.2* This app no longer opens on my iPad, and shows a warning that it will not work with future (current?) versions of iOS. The update finally came last week, but after installing, scrolling still doesn't work. Don't waste your time or money on others. Saves formatting etc. as input. Haven't had a crash or loss of data yet. Thought a good spreadsheet for the ipad was a myth until I tried this one. Then I found Calc and was pleasantly surprised. This app is easy to use and meets all of my basic spreadsheet needs. You have to buy the paid version to export files but it is worth the $6. ### 3/5 — Great App *2013-06-04, version 3.9.0* I use this app to track sales goals for my team. It works great. They are able to open the email attachments easily. Formulas work great. Touch navigation is good. Most of the formatting is available. Comparable to google drive xls. Plus is actually available to edit offline, which google drive won't do. ### 2/5 — Crashes = Lost work *2013-04-18, version 3.9.0* Just downloaded the App today, and during the course of about 3 hrs of work, it crashed twice. It's a pain to have to remember to "Save" one's work every few minutes. I'll struggle thru this one piece of work I have to get done (given how much I have put into it already), but I will not use it again for future work. Disappointing, and not quite worth the $5.99 for the amount of use I got out of it. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Update Calc xls *2023-11-12* IPhone version 17.1.1 does not work with Calc xls. When transferring through older Calc XLS and Dropbox. App hung up at dropbox, will not allow me to return to spreadsheets. I can not retrieve my spreads to update. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2017-06-01, version 4.2* Don't get. Will not update and no support. ### 1/5 — Calc xls free *2017-05-04, version 4.2* I have been using mariner calc for years but new iphone says it will not work much longer. So i tried the free version of calc xls and cannot open files from One Drive. Tried to import from mariner calc but it won't work. Support wrote me one email and then decided they would not respond anymore so.... use at your own risk. Try the free version and see if it is for you - it WAS NOT for me. ### 1/5 — Crashes constantly *2016-12-03, version 4.2* Newest update has made app unusable. App support has been no help. I cannot go from one section of my spreadsheets to another without minimizing the whole screen, to the whole spreadsheet is unreadable. Please fix. I would give more stars and a better review if I could actually use my spreadsheet. ### 1/5 — Seriously?! *2013-09-12, version 4.0.1* I just downloaded and opened the file. On the first page that opened within the application I tried to edit a cell. I received a message that said I could not edit Imported documents. DELETED! Why wouldn't you put that in the description of what the application does. Bait and switch much? ### 1/5 — Trickery *2013-06-30, version 4.0.0* I really liked this app, but after the update, I lost all of my spreadsheets and I cannot create new ones unless I upgrade. I refuse to upgrade because it is a shady way for the company to force people to upgrade. They are saying "because you didn't pay us for the upgrade, we took all your stuff." I'll delete this app and move on to another one. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2013-03-06, version 3.9.0* I use excel a lot. This program is nothing like excel. If I make one small change, I may spend an hour fixing a chain reaction of errors or unwanted and unexpected errors. In addition, when I think I finally have the sheet tweaked, and either close it or let it suspend, when I open it back up, it is terribly screwed up again. I have wasted many hours trying to make this program work. I've lost a lot of work and data. No more. I'm removing this from my iPad. ### 1/5 — Misleading logo *2011-12-03, version 3.4.4* Do not be misled by the pie chart logo. The app has no charting ability - which irks me no end. I was in a hurry to work with a spreadsheet in an upcoming meeting and would only have my iPad with me. Popped for $$ to buy the program in order to transfer a spreadsheet I needed, which I had created in Excel. It had one graph in it, which I needed to work with. I assumed that an app with a pie chart for a logo would do charts. Nope. When I transferred the spreadsheet, the app took out my chart. OK, I foolishly thought. Some compatibility issue. I'll just recreate it. Nope. No charting tools at all. Caveat emptor ### 1/5 — Waste of time! *2011-11-06, version 3.4.3* Description says you can "view and edit excel files." this is a blatant lie. You can open one after a lot of trouble, then you are told to upgrade before you can edit. I could understand opening in read only and not allowing to save, which it does. However, you can not even test to see if it works because you are not allowed to edit. The one star rating is based on the fact that the publisher lied about this app's functionality. Any other aspects will not be considered. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Rough start, great finish *2016-03-30, version 4.2* First I got the free version. Loved it so I upgraded. Problem was I was using cvs files. Got frustrated. By using DropBox from my desktop, I was able to open those in Excel and convert my original files. I had put too much work in them already. Now I am a very happy camper! ### 5/5 — Perfect emergency back up *2016-02-11, version 4.2* My lap top died in Puerto Escondido Mexico. This app saved the day. Was able to keep up to date with all my bank accounts and FX transactions all on an old IPad 1. ### 5/5 — One little oddity *2015-12-22, version 4.2* An imported CSV file must not have any carriage returns (CRs) in the fields or they will be seen as field delimiters also. So every CR will result in a new spreadsheet line. My database app (HanDBase) allows CRs in a text field but I had to go back to the text fields and edit out all CRs. Now that I know this I agree with all the five star comments. ### 5/5 — For my purposes *2015-03-29, version 4.2* I rate this highly for its benefit to me. I use it for a record of keeping up with my medications and when to order refills. I also use it for my finances. It calculates and has color options and even prints, though I haven't figured out yet how to print smaller. Nevertheless, I am impressed with this free program and plan to make it even more valuable to me by creating a few more spreadsheets. A big thank you is due to the developers of this program, that I take with me everywhere on my IPAD. ### 5/5 — Great Program *2013-07-13, version 4.0.1* I was skeptical of this program, but when I uploaded a complex Excel program from my PC, and it worked perfectly, I was totally impressed.
