Apple Watch calendar became too small after update

I love this app because it is the only way to view a full month calendar at a glance on my Apple Watch.

However, after the recent update, the CalCs calendar complication became much smaller than before and is now difficult to read. I use the Modular watch face, and the complication size used to be perfect.

Could you please check if the complication layout or scaling was changed? I hope the previous calendar size can be restored. Thank you.

Response from developer

Dear shinsung00, (English is not my native language, so I apologize in advance if there are any mistakes or unclear parts in the following message.) Thank you very much for posting your review. I am also very sorry for the inconvenience caused by the calendar complication size. Are you using the "Month" complication? Regarding the "Month" complication, I apologize, but it is by design that the font size may become smaller in some cases. The reason is that the number of weeks in a month varies from 4 to 6 weeks. If a month with 6 weeks were displayed with the same font size as a month with 5 weeks or fewer, there would not be enough space in the display area. Therefore, for months with 6 weeks, the font size has to be reduced. Because of this behavior, I assume that the change probably did not occur due to an update, but rather when the calendar changed from July, which had 5 weeks, to August, which had 6 weeks. Could you please try placing the "Month (Next Month)" complication and check how the size appears? Since September has 5 weeks, I expect it will probably be displayed with a larger font size. If the font size is also small with "Month (Next Month)", or if my assumption is incorrect (for example, if you are not using the "Month" complication etc.), I would appreciate it if you could add a comment to your review or contact me using the email address or X (formerly Twitter) account below. Email: au11785@gmail.com X (formerly Twitter): @akihiro11785 In the case of a review, Apple needs to review it before it reaches me, so it may take several days. Therefore, contacting me by email or X will allow me to respond relatively quickly. Additionally, if you would like the calendar to always be displayed with the same font size, there are two possible methods: * Use the Modular Duo watch face and place "Month (1st Half)" at the top and "Month (2nd Half)" at the bottom. (The Modular Duo watch face is not available on the SE series or models before Series 6.) * Use the "5 Week (Last Week-3 Weeks Later)" or "5 Week (This Week-4 Weeks Later)" complications on the Modular watch face. (These complications do not display the entire month. Instead, they display a variable 5-week calendar.) I hope you will give these options a try. Thank you very much, and I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,

Amazing Developer

If I could give the developer 10 stars I would. I loved the design of the full month calendar complication already, but I asked if he could add a simple complication displaying the date in ISO format. He worked with me collaboratively on the format, and released it shortly after. I am blown away and so appreciative for his work

Could you please try the following steps? ・Restart your iPhone and Apple Watch ・Force-quit CalCs ①While CalCs is open, press and hold the side button. ②When the Power Off/Emergency Call screen appears, press and hold the Digital Crown until the app closes. ・Reinstall CalCs ①Press the Digital Crown to view your apps. ②Long-press the CalCs icon and tap the "X" button to remove it. ③Open the App Store on your Apple Watch. ④Scroll to the bottom and go to "Account" > "Purchased." ⑤Find "CalCs" and redownload it. If these steps do not resolve the issue, or if you have already tried them, I would appreciate more details to help me investigate further. FAQ

What does CalCs do?

CalCs provides various calendar complications for your Apple Watch. It allows you to display the current date, upcoming events and reminders synced from your iPhone, and a monthly calendar view directly on your watch face. The main app also offers a list of events/reminders and a monthly calendar.

What are the key features of CalCs?

Key features include complications for date display in various formats, event and reminder display (including an option to include all-day events), and a monthly calendar display. You can customize the start of the week and some regions support holiday displays. The main app provides access to these features in a list format.

How do I install CalCs on my Apple Watch?

Since CalCs is a watchOS-only app, it's best to download it directly from the App Store on your Apple Watch. Navigate to the App Store app on your watch, then go to 'Account', 'Purchased', and find 'CalCs' to re-download it. Downloading from the iPhone App Store may lead to synchronization issues.

Does CalCs allow adding or editing events?

No, the current version of CalCs does not support adding, editing, or deleting events/reminders, nor marking reminders as complete. It is designed for displaying existing calendar information and reminders synced from your iPhone.

What Apple Watch models are compatible with CalCs?

CalCs complications are supported on Apple Watch Series 4 and later. Specifically, the monthly calendar view using two large rectangles is only available on Modular Duo supporting models (Series 7+), while other models display it with smaller font. It is not guaranteed to work on Series 3 or earlier models.
