Reading it on my iPad on this app was always a pleasure. Recently this app wouldn't refresh my subscription in a timely manner, I was halfway done my coffee before today's paper *might* be ready to read. And then it started showing a whole bunch of newspapers, instead of just The Calgary Herald! But anyways after I deleted the app and reinstalled it, it started behaving again. ### 2/5 — Unfortunately no longer loads reliably and now ads? *2026-08-13* I've always liked to read the paper every morning, since I was a kid. Reading it on my iPad on this app was always a pleasure. But lately this app won't refresh my subscription in a timely manner, I'm halfway done my coffee before today's paper *might* be ready to read. And now I see an advertisement on the home screen before I even *get* to the newspaper! Also, now it shows a whole bunch of newspapers, instead of just The Calgary Herald! If I wanted all those other papers, I'd download a different app. So, I can no longer recommend this app to read The Calgary Herald each morning. Instead, I have to suggest the web browser epaper view, or maybe you'd rather to subscribe to the physical paper copy like it's 1995. ### 2/5 — Poor sports coverage *2026-08-06, version 8.2* Compare the Herald sports section with the Winnipeg Free Press. Didn’t matter what I did including deleting the app it wouldn’t upgrade. Contacted support months ago. Still no upgrade. This is the only app that I am unable to upgrade. I spend most of the time I spend reloading the app. Every time it travel it will not reopen with the daily paper. It’s Friday today and I get to read last Wednesdays paper. The Herald doesn’t publish on Sunday and holidays so it’s just sort of a daily paper. The App is about a 3 out of 5. It works OK about 75% of the time. It has trouble opening articles sometimes, words get jumbled and over print and it doesn't auto load the editions as it used to do.
