## What is Calibration Flow?

Calibration Flow is the tonal calibration tool for silver-based and alternative photographic processes: cyanotype, platinum-palladium, gum bichromate (Aquaprint), carbon, Van Dyke, resinotype.

KEY FEATURES

• Custom calibration curves per process, paper and negative
• Pre-calibration sheet: compare 12 settings per exposure time and refine your choice with 9 variants; crop library photos while preserving the original.
• Digital negative: high-resolution generation and export (300 to 720 dpi, continuous tones or halftones)
• Direct printing: send the negative to your printer from the app, with no AirPrint and no third-party app — it asks the machine what it can do before sending, honors its hardware margins, and follows the job
• CMYK tonal separation with black generation control (GCR), including multi-zone
• Full Gamut color mode with 5, 6 and 7 channels (Orange, Green, Violet), to go beyond simple CMYK
• Ink steps: set where each ink stops, in negative as well as positive, combinable with zones
• Screen angles: one angle per ink (rosette) or all aligned
• Color Venn: printing test target and ink-layer overlay simulator, with eyedropper and magnifier
• .acv export for Photoshop, Lightroom, Affinity Photo and GIMP
• Registration marks: a frame of targets around the image and a mini-target that follows the output, in negative as well as positive
• Harmonic exposure timer with circular dial, multi-device sync, and Dynamic Island / Live Activity on iPhone
• Bluetooth control for compatible UV lamps (BanlanX SP630E controller) — on/off control from the app, no variable-intensity dimming
• HD media library with cloud sync and multi-device access
• Large-format tiling: edge-to-edge A4, A3 and A3+ sheet assembly

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 4.5.1 — 2026-10-09

• New pre-calibration sheet: compare 12 settings per exposure time, then refine your choice with 9 variants in increments of 5. Each photo keeps its matching 5×5 target and setting code.
• Free, A4 or A3+ cropping from the library while preserving the original.
• More reliable HD generation, improved progress reporting and corrected horizontal mirroring.
• Automatic brightness and level adjustments in photo analysis.
• A 5×5 reference is shown after importing a scan.
• More robust print transfers and improved Epson M1170 support.

### 4.5 — 2026-10-02

PRINTING — TRUE 720 DPI FROM THE IPHONE
• The negative is sent in the Epson printer's native language, directly, without AirPrint: exact 720 dpi, A4 and A3+, the sheet comes out whole and at its size.
• Four times faster sending: an A3+ at 720 dpi leaves in 9 minutes instead of 37.
• Sending terminal: follow the transfer, cancel it with one tap, and read what actually left (format, compression, head direction).
• Settings cut down to the essentials: stream format, compression, head both ways or one way, rear manual slot, rear feeder or tray 1.
• Every feed says what it takes: a feed too small for the requested sheet is greyed out and nothing is sent by mistake.

HOME
• History of your last 20 exposures, on the home screen.

NEGATIVE
• A3+ at 720 dpi on iPhone: the sheet is built in bands, without saturating memory.
• 360 and 720 dpi steps; the app warns when the printer will have to resample.
• Grain as an option, next to the screen. The screen dot is always round.
• Decontrast, up to 50%, in place of the old gum screen mode.
• Marks: three exposure charts to the right of the image.
• The saved PNG carries its resolution: no more 72 dpi reading on a computer.
• Full-screen viewer: zoom to the real pixel, thumbnails, arrows.

SCAN → CURVE
• Smart correction: stained patches are put back in place, blacks and whites aligned, a column that reads off to the side is realigned.
• The curve starts from the chart's useful zone, with no forced 0 or 255.
• Drag a curve point by hand; the scan gestures always stay active.

TIMER
• Minimum exposure 1 s, 0.1 s steps up to 2 s, 0.2 s up to 3 s, 0.5 s up to 4 s.

ALSO
• A preset downloaded from the cloud is no longer uploaded back as a duplicate.
• Overlay: a large temporary loupe circle on iPhone.
• No more blue highlight when dragging a finger across the interface.

### 4.4 — 2026-09-26

TIMER
• Set exposures to the tenth of a second up to 5 s, to the second up to 30 s, then in 5 s steps up to 1 min 30. Tenth-of-a-second countdown for short exposures.

COMMUNITY
• Block an author: all their posts disappear from your catalog and a report goes to moderation. Show them again in one tap.

NEGATIVE
• A3+ at 450 dpi is now available on iPhone: generation works in bands and uses far less memory.
• A sheet the device refuses is no longer reported as a success.
• Color mode: the "Simulated print" thumbnail opens the full HD black-and-white negative.
• Share…: send an exported negative straight through AirDrop, Mail or Messages.

LIGHTER
• A lighter app; the loupe and the UV plug no longer tax the device when they are not in use.
• Haptic feedback when printing and on the UV plug.
• VoiceOver: close buttons and the timer dial are properly named, in your language.

### 4.3.1 — 2026-09-17

• "The hue sphere" demo in the color separation Simulator
• Color mode: plates now display as a grid, with full-screen preview and HD download
• Direct printing: fix for Epson ET-8550 printers
• Subscribers: cloud sync and Pro status display fixed
• Magic-link sign-in fixed in the app

### 4.3 — 2026-09-16
