Being able to bookmark and email code sections is also great. I would only add the ability to highlight passages (like in a textbook). It is quite useful. A lot of the inefficiencies I noticed at first have been eliminated. For example, I can now search within particular codes or even more specific articles or divisions of codes. Still, bookmarks and highlights are not synchronized between devices. Data updates are now an in app purchase. Just something new to worry about. I suppose the updates aren’t all that expensive when compared to the cost (and benefit) of doing business. ### 4/5 — Generally good with a few flaws *2014-04-03, version 5.106.20140308* The biggest issue is that it is not complete. For example, Probate Code 4401, the statutory power of attorney is missing the text. That is sloppy and needs to be corrected. Especially now that they are charging a significant amount for upgrades. I should not have to buy a West or Lexis product if they are charging this much for upgrades. ### 4/5 — Great Reference Tool *2013-07-01, version 3.520130615* I use this everyday in court- it's much quicker than flipping through the Penal Code. I also need the other codes on occasion and don't have them at my disposal in court. I can see the elements of the charged offense as well as similar offenses while I'm discussing the case with my client. The only improvements I'd like to see are the additions of sentencing, registration, and immigration consequences. I'd pay more if those were made available. ### 4/5 — I need to enlarge the font more *2013-06-14, version 1.18* This is a pretty good app, and I use it a lot. However, I wish I could enlarge the fonts even more. With the update, you can now see the penal codes sectioned off on the left side of the screen. It's makes locating the penal codes faster. As of 2015, the company (app designer) decides they want you to renew annually now for $29.00 a year. This is a total scam and not worth the money. Searching is great and with many options: type a search, browse and drill down into the codes, click hyperlinks of other codes, search in a particular code or all codes, etc. Simply fantastic. Developer is very responsive and works very hard on this app to deliver excellent and critical updates. One of the best apps I have purchased. Having the code section ranges when going through the codes is unbelievably helpful. As a family law attorney, I use multiple codes in this app constantly. If there is a need to view the California codes, this app is, hands down, the way to go. I was not able to find the section about talking on the phone while driving. I e-mailed tech support at 12:13 and got a reply that told me I what words to search by 12:22am. That was less then 10 min latter. I needed to use the words the legislator used. Driving talking and it came right up. Search is very good! ### 5/5 — Very easy to navigate *2013-03-07, version 1.18* I love this app because it is so easy to browse through statutes. Other apps are clumsy - for example, you might know a particular section of a code that you want, but the official tables break it down by titles and chapters and most of the time i have no idea what chapter or title a particular section is in. With this app, all of the section number ranges are listed in each title and chapter, and so it makes it a breeze to find the section! I practice employment law so I look at the Labor Code, Government Code, Code of Civil Procedure, etc... I can go from one to the other in a snap. This app is the bomb. I won't buy any more of those desktop volumes of the codes from West or Lexis! The cost of this app is cheaper than a copy of the Labor Code. ### 5/5 — The Way It Should Be *2013-02-28, version 1.18* What's not to love?
