## What is Call a Bike?

With Call a Bike, you are spontaneously and flexibly mobile around the clock. Whether you're on your way to work, after work or on a city trip, with Call a Bike you can rent a bike at any time and anywhere in Germany.

A total of 13,000 bikes are available in over 80 cities. You can also use the app to hire a bike from StadtRAD Hamburg and Lüneburg as well as RegioRadStuttgart.

All bikes are displayed on an interactive map in the app. You can rent them using the QR code or by entering the bike number.

You can pause your journey: simply activate it in the app and close the bike lock.

To return the bike, take it to one of the Call a Bike stations that you can find on the interactive map in the app.

You can view the details and costs of your journeys in your bookings at any time. You can also redeem voucher codes, report damage and manage your customer account here.

What a horrible first time experience. Here I stand for 10 minutes trying to set up a login, get a text password and on and on. No Apple Pay? Ok fine. But then there is no way to use iPhone’s system wide automatic system to enter my credit card information. So I have to go in and copy and paste. We are in 2026 now, auto-credit card is table stakes. Then, your password does not automatically get saved. Verify by text. Etc etc etc. I don’t know how easy this all is to write an app for, but it can’t be that hard, everybody else can do it. Reporting a unwelcoming tourist experience from Frankfurt here.

Ich bin mit den neusten App Version sehr zufrieden. Insbesondere die Anzeige-Aktualisierung der aktuellen Fahrt ist jetzt sehr zuverlässig.
Was ich mir noch wünschen würde, wäre ein Bedarfs-Meldesystem für neue Stationen. Hier gleich ein Bedarf: Berlin, östliche Reichenberger Straße – große Lücke!

### 3/5 — Neue Version wieder instabiler

Nach wie vor ist hervorzuheben, dass die Räder allgemein in gutem Zustand sind und die Rückgabe übers Schloss sehr zuverlässig funktioniert (was früher das größte Problem war). Version 7.6.6 läuft leider wieder deutlich instabiler. Das Ausleihe-Statusfenster oben fehlt meistens zunächst komplett und zeigt später nicht korrekt den aktuellen Status an (Standard/Geparkt/Zurückgegeben). Das lässt sich oft zurechtschubsen, indem ich den QR-Code nochmal scanne – das ist übrigens sehr bequem zum Entsperren des Parkmodus. Das Scanner-Fenster wiederum freezet gerne mal. Man muss also oft die App killen und neustarten. Gut ist, dass sie wirklich sehr schnell neustartet.

### 5/5 — Praktisch und weitestgehend zuverlässig

CallaBike ist für mich eine der besten Lösungen, um in Berlin, Magdeburg und Halle flexibel unterwegs zu sein. Die App ist benutzerfreundlich, die Stationen sind gut erreichbar, und die Integration des BahnBonus-Tarifs macht das Ganze besonders praktisch.

Die Buchung läuft reibungslos, die Fahrräder sind in der Regel in gutem Zustand, und die Verfügbarkeit ist zuverlässig. Wer ein unkompliziertes und praktisches Fahrradverleihsystem sucht, liegt mit CallaBike genau richtig. Eine klare Empfehlung für den Alltag!

### 3/5 — Bugs seit update?!

Ich lieb die Bikes und nutze sie häufig, aber die App hakt und spinnt total. Es ist seit ein paar Wochen noch schlimmer geworden, vllt nach dem letzten Update?! Ich weiß es nicht genau. Jedenfalls läuft die Kartenansicht alles andere als flüssig. Ständig bleibt sie hängen, sodass ein schnelles Nachschauen, ob ein Bike an der nächsten Station verfügbar ist, nahezu unmöglich wird. Das stört total und muss doch irgendwie behoben werden können?!
Dazu kommt, dass die Zeit trotz geschlossenem Riegel ständig weiterläuft und man (wenn man es eilig hat) nicht weiß, ob einem die zusätzliche Zeit nun in Rechnung gestellt wird oder nicht. Bitte bitte fixen 🙏 danke

I downloaded this app attracted by the good-looking bikes in Munich and the cheaper rates than Lime. Sadly the registration process doesn’t work, so I never got to ride one!

Grundlegend funktioniert die App und macht was sie soll, aber leider häufen sich die Fehler und Funktionen, die mindestens als „nervig“ einzuordnen sind. 

Der wohl größte Störfaktor ist, dass inzwischen jede Miete in der App nicht als beendet angezeigt wird, sondern solange weiterläuft bis ich die nächste Miete starte. Hierbei handelt es sich offenbar um eine fehlerhafte Anzeige in der App, da die Abrechnung anschließend korrekt ist. Dennoch sorgt es bei mir jedes Mal zu einem kurzen Schocoment und der Frage ob ich das Rad nicht korrekt abgestellt hatte. 

Zudem stört mich, dass seit dem Update, nach dem scannen des QR Codes noch zusätzlich per Swipe die Miete gestartet werden muss. Ein unnötiger Schritt. Ich frage mich warum dieser zusätzliche Schritt eingeführt wurde - denn ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass jemand vorher  sich beschwert hat, aus Versehen die App geöffnet zu habe, dann den Scanner geöffnet zu haben und so aus Versehen eine miete gestartet hat 🤷‍♂️
