This can eat your balance real quick! ### 1/5 — Unbelievably terrible *2014-12-27, version 1.19* I spend a lot of time abroad, so I've tried nearly every VOIP app out there, including Hangouts by Google, Burner, Pinger, Magicjack, etc. I've followed the online instructions for this app several times now over the last 2 years, and I've yet to be able to receive or complete a call using the Callcentric iPhone app. Save your balance and use a free service. ### 1/5 — Worthless app *2014-09-29, version 1.19* Downloaded app, it crashes at startup. Worthless. If CALLCENTRIC is your VoIP provider then pay and get BRIA or WHISTLE. ## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great service *2018-09-17, version 2.16* UPDATE for newest version: I'm grateful this app is getting attention and nice features. But on my iPad Air, iOS 9 (yeah, old OS) it seems to immediately crash. UPDATE again: after deleting app and reinstalling, it now launches fine. Looks great, totally new!! I don't need to use this app much but it is really great to have when I do need it, like making long distance calls while I'm at work (without making employer foot the bill for my call). But mostly I use Acrobits SoftPhone app with Callcentric. I've been a customer for years and finally disconnected my landline and ported my number to Callcentric (I used their free NY number before that). Very high quality service. ### 5/5 — Don't rate it if you don't understand it! *2012-10-06, version 1.19* This is a supplementary app to Callcentric VoIP service. It does the same as their "Click to call" feature on their web site does. This is not the primary way that their service functions. Callcentric is a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) SIP VoIP provider. You can use their service with a number of SIP devices: routers, ATAs, SIP phones (hardware and software) and even SIP apps for IOS (such as Groundwire or SIP Pphone). You can also use their service with VoIP PBXs, such as Asterisk, Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, etc. Their service is extremely reliable and is of great quality. Additionally, it's extremely reasonably priced. Their tech support (via email) has almost instantaneous response and is probably the best among their competitors. The "Click to call" feature that this app provides is only useful if you need to make a call from either a restricted phone, which cannot make outbound calls, or to bypass expensive fees that a phone service may have. For instance, if you want to make a personal international call from your work phone, you can use the "click to call" feature to have Callcentric call you and then have Callcentric call the international number. Their International rates are the best among VoIP providers, by the way. This app would allow you to bypass the exorbitant international fees that your mobile provider charges per minute. Most of Callcentric international calls are $.03 - $.07 per minute. Also, if you purchase the SIP Phone or Groundwire app, and set the app up to work with Callcentric, for which they have a pre-set, you can call anywhere using VoIP, so you would not be spending your mobile minutes. I've had Callcentric for over four years now. I'm a VoIP engineer, and am using their SIP service for my home PBX, as well as for my VoIP lab. I've also used their service on my iPad and iPhones when traveling internationally, which allowed me to call from a foreign county as though I was calling from the US. I was also able to receive incoming calls at my US number while being overseas, utilizing my iPad and/or iPhone and the Groundwire app. The SIP Phone app is a scaled down version of the Groundwire app with fewer features but the same great quality. I wish people would do just a little research before posting their comments. ### 5/5 — It Works *2011-08-24, version 1.18* It works as advertised. Enter a phone number to call and you immediately receive a callback to the number you configured in the app settings. When you answer the callback you hear the phone ringing at the number you're calling. The app isn't a VOIP phone; it's a 2-step call initiator and it works. ### 5/5 — So far so good *2011-08-24, version 1.18* Thus far, I've used it where I have a wireless connection and works fine. I have been using Callcentric on my iPhone with Acrobits for a couple of years and that too works fine but this app's call-back design can be useful in certain circumstances. ### 5/5 — Works *2011-08-23, version 1.18* Just have to make sure you add you cell phone number were it says 'My Number'. You also have to be sure you have cell phone service where you are located. Nice that it tells you your balance. It should: - allow picking a callerid for click2call - retrieve and play voicemail - account integration, import/export/merge contact lists, etc... - etc... ### 4/5 — Not bad not bad *2011-08-24, version 1.18* Callcentric finally has an application for their services. The wait is over and they have delivered a very simple but so far usable app. It's not a full fledged SIP app but they let you know up front so you can't be angry about that. The app essentially works like their click2dial interface with some extra options. Plus it shows you your realtime balance and call history. You can also call other callcentric users and if you're technical, like me, you can dial sipbroker users which is definitely useful if you wanna call someone on another sip service or something. For example I can use their sip broker code to call directly to my pbx which is registered with sip broker. All in all not ground breaking but useful and if you travel then it could save you some money just like the click2dial feature does. This is the first release but in the future hopefully they'll allow you to choose your callerID and edit forwarding options and probably provide a full fledged sip app but I'd rather they take their time on that. ### 2/5 — Interesting, for viewing my balance, but ... *2011-08-25, version 1.18* ... It still needs lots of work. Compared to my "Groundwire" App, full SIP Client for WiFi VoIP calls, from Acrobits, this CallCentric App is at it's infancy. I don't know if it's made to receive calls, 'cause no settings exist to create incoming parameters, plus the App didn't ring when i called it from my cell#, ... and I don't know if calling to another CallCentric number is free, but it's nice to see the balance on my account, without having to log into my website based account. I'm using it on my iPad2 - WiFi Only tablet I don't understand why calls need to be placed with this App, similar to a GoogleVoice account, where it calls your number back, then places the call to the number you originally wanted. There isn't any voice routines in it to talk via the App. Why would I want to be charged for a call similarly placed as GoogleVoice does it, when I can use my GoogleVoice number to call me back for a free call. :-) As I stated before, it's a nice start, and good for checking your balance in your CallCentric account. Maybe later on they'll put the other routines in to receive, and make calls, directly from the App, not needing to call back your # first. I'll continue to use my VoIP client, Groundwire, for WiFi SIP Calls, through the CallCentric service. I must also add, their service (CallCentric) is BETTER than the original phone company is, and their customer service is as good as the original phone company WAS, before the "break-up" and break-down of Ma Bell. Come now, CallCentric, ... Make this App a full-fledged VoIP client, and also add Video Chat, over SIP & IP-to-IP, too! You can do it...! :-) ### 2/5 — Not sure I understand the point of this. *2011-08-24, version 1.18* Why would I use something that will incur charges on my Callcentric account and use my cell minutes.
