## What is Calligraphy Practice?

This app DOES NOT work with a STYLUS.

The Calligraphy practice app was developed to be the best software to learn, practice and develop calligraphy.
This project was designed from scratch to appeal both to the beginner and expert calligrapher because of its easy tracing system, and advanced calligraphic brush tool.

Ease of use, power and efficiency are in the core of this app.
We have developed a calligraphic brush tool that will allow the liberty and efficiency of a real flat brush or flat tip pen, by returning the flat brush control to the hand and the hand only.
With it one can start to draw a character with one inclination and finish with a different one; it's possible achieve different thicknesses along the same stroke; one can lift and turn the paintbrush to finish off serifs; all this can be done in a natural instinctive way that works as an extension of the hand.
All this without the need to set previous parameters as in traditional software.

Learn calligraphy on your own:
Tutorial tracing fonts were developed according to the scale of the iPad and fingers.
These were designed as two lines, one for each finger, with indication of where to begin the gesture, and where to end.
The users will place their fingers on each starting point, and by following the lines they will be able to draw the character correctly on their own, without the help of an instructor.

Practice and trace over:
> A foundation hand font - based on Caroline calligraphy that is the base of roman type;
> An italic font;
> A capitals font;
> A set of numbers and punctuation.

And now some blackletter fonts:
> A textura quadrata font
> A fraktur font
> Gothic capitals

Take advantage of advance features such as:
> email your writings as a PDF with editable bezier curves;
> The ability to undo or redo;
> Easily share and copy;
> Connect to a projector;

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-02-09*

Lost money and time

### 4/5 — No longer crashes

*2018-11-24*

Rapid response and app now works brilliantly.

### 1/5 — So far waste of money

*2017-11-10, version 1.3.4*

App crashes and kicks me out to the home screen when I choose ‘learn the characters’ or ‘write with help’.
Waste of money. DONT BUY 😔

### 1/5 — Not compatible with Apple pencil

*2017-08-04*

There are several apps that allow me to practice calligraphy with my Apple pencil on the iPad. This does not. The only option is to draw letters 3 to 4 inches tall using two fingers. The letters are beautiful, and the app seems well designed, but it does not work the way I had hoped. I wish I had not spent money on this.

### 1/5 — Swipe function

*2015-02-02, version 1.3*

There should really be an option not to swipe back to the previous page, it's very frustrating to keep doing this when you mean to draw a line right to left.

### 5/5 — Very good App.

*2014-10-13, version 1.3*

I've only just started doing calligraphy. This is perfect as an extra aid to the art. Nice that the results can be viewed and emailed. Very useful when waiting around somewhere without callig. pens to hand to get some practice in. Make sure you keep fingers correct distance apart when tracing letters to get good results and to avoid page skipping fwd/back. Good work producing this App - thank you.

### 4/5 — Why no love for this app?!

*2013-12-03*

This is a great little calligraphy app. The two-fingered technique is very natural (and fun, really), though it might (further) penalize left-handed calligraphers. If you have any doubts, check out the demos on the developer's site!

It's still pretty bare-bones (currently in v.1.1), but if you're at all interested in practicing calligraphy, by all means pick this up and support the development of this app.

(With that in mind, a few feature requests for the developer:

** the option of fixed nib geometry (set width & height)
** one-finger flourishes!
** a small preview window tucked in one of the upper corners, so I can keep an overview of my whole document
** basic select/cut/copy/paste/delete of strokes

Thank you!)

### 2/5 — Not worth the price

*2013-10-10*

You have to provide your own text. No examples of completed works. Difficult to navigate in terms of responsiveness if you don't press in exactly the right spot. Sometimes when you are forming a letter, nothing happens. You have to write slowly. I had high hopes, but just too difficult to write using two fingers. If you could use a stylus of some kind it would be better. Disappointed.

### 1/5 — Not good for practicing

*2013-07-16*

The apple is called "calligraphy practice" and by so, I expected it to be a way to train my calligraphy skills using my iPad wherever I am. However the only way to draw is by using two fingers, it doesn't support stylus, and that's not natural or useful at all. It may be interesting to kill some time for people who are interested in calligraphy, but it doesn't work at all to people who are actually looking forward to practice it. I have uninstalled it and never going to use it again. I just hope I could get my money back.
