## What is Calometric?

Log calories and macros in the way that fits the moment: snap a meal, scan a barcode, speak, search foods, or read a nutrition label.

Every result is a starting point you control. Review and edit foods, portions, servings, calories, carbohydrates, protein, and fat before you save.

FIVE WAYS TO LOG

• Photo
Take a meal photo and get an editable estimate of the foods, portions, calories, and macros. With your permission, Calometric sends a resized copy of the photo to cloud AI for analysis.

• Barcode Scanner
Scan a packaged food and look it up in the community-maintained Open Food Facts catalog. Your device reads the barcode; the product lookup uses the internet.

• Voice
Say what you ate with on-device transcription on supported devices and languages.

• Search
Find foods in a built-in collection of about 300 curated USDA foods, even when you are offline.

• Nutrition Label
Point your camera at a nutrition label to read calories and macros on your device.

SPEND LESS TIME REPEATING YOURSELF

• Set daily calorie and macro goals
• Check calories and macros at a glance
• Follow weekly trends
• Edit meals whenever you need to
• Save favorite meals and copy meals you eat often
• Search your food diary and export it as CSV

MEET THE OPTIONAL NUTRITION COACH

Have a question about a meal? Ask the Nutrition Coach about macros, hydration, grocery choices, dietary patterns, or fueling for a workout.

With your permission, the Coach can use your active goal, today's totals, and up to seven days of totals when available to make its general-wellness guidance more relevant.

The Coach requires a separate auto-renewing monthly subscription. Access includes up to 20 completed messages per UTC day and 300 per subscription billing period. Food logging never requires a Coach subscription, and Coach messages never use photo-scan credits.

The Coach is not medical advice and cannot diagnose or treat a health condition. AI can be wrong, so check important guidance with a qualified professional.

BUILT FOR YOUR APPLE DEVICES

• Apple Watch app and watch-face complications
• Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, plus Control Center controls
• Siri shortcuts and Spotlight meal search
• Optional meal-history sync through your iCloud account
• Optional Apple Health sync for calories, carbohydrates, protein, and fat
• Support for VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, and Reduce Transparency

CLEAR CHOICES FROM THE START

• No Calometric account or login required
• Voice transcription, food search, and nutrition-label reading run on device
• Photo analysis and the Nutrition Coach use cloud processing after separate permission
• Barcode product lookups contact Open Food Facts
• Your app purchase includes 100 photo scans that do not expire
• Optional 100-scan packs are available if you want more
• The Nutrition Coach subscription is separate and never required for food logging

### 1/5 — I want a refund

*2026-08-07*

It’s clear why there’s no free trial. Because if you tried it first, you wouldn’t buy it. The photo scanner is terrible. It labeled simple scrambled eggs as a plate of ravioli, gnocchi, and macaroni and cheese with about five times the calories.

The AI voice recognition is even worse. I said very simply “two scrambled eggs with 25g of cottage cheese fried in a little bit of olive oil” and it interpreted that as one egg, fish and chips, cheesecake, and fried calamari.

I want a refund.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the detail — that is a bad first experience and the specifics help.

Both problems you hit come from the on-device recognition in this version. We have rebuilt photo scanning entirely: it now runs on a much larger cloud model instead of the on-device one, and results arrive as an editable estimate you can correct before saving. Voice logging has also been reworked.

If you would like a refund, Apple handles those at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you would rather wait and try the new version, we would genuinely like to know whether it holds up for your meals — calometric.app/support reaches us directly.

### 3/5 — Ok Tracker Without Subscription

*2026-07-13*

Updated Review:
Not as good as I once thought. The app is good at barcodes and reading nutrition labels but unfortunately has a hard time customizing food if you cook your own food. When adding 100g chicken breast, it was 0 calories with 0 grams of protein. Also no way to edit calories, fat, protein on custom meals.

Original Review:
So far this is the best calorie/food tracker without a subscription. Nice, clean, and organized. Even has a widget when you’re looking at your calorie intake a glance.

**Developer response:** Thank you for updating your review — a custom food saving as 0 calories and 0 g protein is a bug, and being unable to edit macros on a custom meal is a gap we should have closed.

Both are on us to fix, and the meal review step has been reworked so that every value — foods, portions, servings, calories, carbs, protein and fat — is editable before you save. If a custom food still comes out empty for you after the next update, please send us the exact entry at calometric.app/support.

Glad the barcode and label scanning are working for you in the meantime.

### 1/5 — Every picture is treat as an error

*2026-05-30*

App treats all pictures as “unsafe” content

**Developer response:** Thank you for reporting this — every photo being rejected is a real bug, not intended behaviour.

The photo path has been rebuilt since this version and no longer uses the on-device classifier that produced those rejections. If it still happens for you after the next update, please send us an example at calometric.app/support and we will chase it down.

### 3/5 — Good app, but can't set exact units

*2026-05-05*

This app is good, but let's you only set whole numbers. there is no comma ,
That makes tracking a little inaccurate.

**Developer response:** Thank you — this is a clear bug. Decimal amounts should be enterable, and on a comma-decimal keyboard they should accept a comma.

We are treating this as an input-handling fault rather than a design choice, and it is on the list. If you can tell us which screen you hit it on — meal review, custom food, or goals — that would help us reproduce it exactly: calometric.app/support.
