### 1/5 — Update has ruined my speaker!

*2020-03-13, version 2.0.0*

I used to have the most amazing sounding speaker until this latest update. Now I have lost about 50% of the volume and the once unbelievable bass has been lost altogether! What were you thinking Cambridge Audio? I hope this is fixed soon.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2020-01-16, version 1.0.35*

This app is totally useless. The so-called instructional video doesn’t play. The so-called options to change the pre-set channels doesn’t exist, at least as far as I can find. In addition, the iPhone set-up instructions for the speaker itself are just wrong. Would be zero stars if available. You’d be better off with a dumb speaker. Cambridge Audio, if you are listening, what on earth are you doing?

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2019-08-07, version 1.0.35*

Comments exactly the same as previous reviewer. There seems to be no way now of setting the auto power down duration. I had a previous version of this app which at least worked with the apd function allowing you to have it switch off after a defined length of time. Wouldn’t work as an alarm though. Overall the auto power down function on Minx air is a real let down. It’s particularly annoying if you want to use the speaker when you don’t have a network connection. In this case the speaker shuts down regardless after 30mins. So basically not much use if you want to take it with you if you’re away from home.

### 1/5 — UX bad, flaky, unintelligent, otherwise acceptable

*2019-07-08, version 1.0.35*

1. Keeps showing welcome screen
2. Crashes out regularly
3. Initial instructions poor

### 1/5 — Poor. Useless

*2018-11-22, version 1.0.35*

I have spent ages reconfiguring with this rubbish app. It is useless. Delete and buy a cable.

### 1/5 — Build it and walk away?

*2018-10-26, version 1.0.35*

It’s near impossible to get any tech support for older gear and this is a case in point. Mine is an earlier version of the Minx speaker and has been a thankless struggle to get to work. This app can ... er... help set the radio stations. And that’s it. Auto time off function disabled? Really?
Poor show. Must do better.

### 1/5 — Constantly crashes

*2018-08-17*

Crashes all the time. Cannot preset from app as stated.

### 1/5 — Agree with other reviews. Appears unfinished app!

*2018-04-29, version 1.0.35*

They need to redesign this.
It’s rubbish
It couldn’t even find my air100 device

### 1/5 — Broken

*2018-04-21, version 1.0.35*

Agree with other reviews. This is an update of a preexisting app needed to work under current operating systems. Logos not showing, no option to specify timeout for power down, and both hard volume buttons raise volume.

### 1/5 — This app is rubbish

*2018-03-18, version 1.0.35*

Like most people ive spent so much money on the minx air 200 and the app is complete rubbish
SHAME ON YOU CAMBRIDGE AUDIO.

### 1/5 — Spent to much time trying to get this to connect.

*2018-02-28, version 1.0.35*

I will have to resort to some old tech... rca plugs.. at least that works. A really nice product let down by a very poorly developed app and absolutely rubbish tech support... read none....

Be aware, it’s hit and miss... when it works it’s simply ace, when it doesn’t... good luck....

### 1/5 — No Support

*2018-01-25, version 1.0.35*

Happy to sell the hardware but zero support from your apps. Minx Air app so old my iPhone can’t work it so I’m left with this nonsense. Can’t manage power off timings, in fact it is so badly designed I don’t even know if I have power save on or off. Press Spotify and it just says not installed and that’s it! When using AirPlay you open the app to adjust equaliser it bombs out and goes to a radio station.
Who built this? Work experience? Let’s face it you can’t be bothered.

### 1/5 — Less functional than old version

*2018-01-03, version 1.0.35*

Current version (1.0.35) has less functionality than previous versions.
Where has the option to change input source gone and the ability to change the power down time?
I expected more from Cambridge Audio.

### 1/5 — Station logos not showing

*2017-12-23, version 1.0.35*

I repeat, station logos not showing??

### 1/5 — No Spotify support

*2017-12-14, version 1.0.35*

I longer works with Spotify as a Spotify connect speaker. You HAVE to force Bluetooth connection.

It simply says “Spotify is not installed!”

Please can you remedy this?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Poor

*2026-07-17, version 2.0.1*

Lack of support and updates means I won’t purchase any more Cambridge Audio products

### 1/5 — Crashed

*2023-06-13, version 2.0.1*

Acquired a CA speaker. App has never worked on iPhone 8 or 12. Useless

### 1/5 — buy something else!

*2023-03-10, version 2.0.1*

Not happy at all with this app for my Cambridge Audio system. radio station tiles don’t work, changing station doesn’t work, finding stations can be a terrible experience if you are searching for a station with a generic name e.g. „radio 1“, app is buggy and super slow.

### 1/5 — Favourite stations just don’t play

*2022-07-13, version 2.0.1*

It’s clunky, won’t play my favourite stations even when I select them, and fails to connect a lot of the time too

### 1/5 — Doesn’t do much

*2021-05-01, version 2.0.1*

This app apparently lets you set auto power down times for two inputs, and play one of ten preset internet radio stations. Can’t find a way to make it do anything else.

The speaker itself is great but what is the point of this app? No need.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2020-11-19, version 2.0.0*

This is a very poor app. Clicking on the EQ preset options on the app causes the Cambridge Air to freeze, preventing any music play, either streamed or via Bluetooth. Have to reset factory settings every time you touch it by mistake.

### 1/5 — Crashes my Audio Air Minx 200

*2020-10-26, version 2.0.0*

When I try to change the EQ setting all sound is lost and I have to reset the Air Minx 200 to factory settings.

### 1/5 — Don’t work

*2020-05-04, version 2.0.0*

App won’t connect to my controller, I’m playing music through
it using Spotify yet the app can’t see it?

### 1/5 — What a crap update, sort it out

*2020-04-15, version 2.0.0*

Agree with the previous reviewer, update totally messed up the quality of playback with a very limited selection of sound options. Please sort it quick

### 1/5 — Bricked my Air 200 speaker

*2020-04-02, version 2.0.0*

Idiots—that’s who updated this app. It killed my speaker. I’m still trying to work out why. My attention is focused on the presets—one of which I stupidly changed. This crappy piece of software is exactly why I’m ditching audio companies who integrate such BS into their faulty hardware and can’t be bothered with QA. Cambridge Audio and their Chinese manufacturing are nothing short of junk traders... this software is proof of this. PITA.

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 3/5 — Useful but limited

*2020-04-30, version 2.0.0*

The app adds some useful features but it always ruins the EQ and bass - the only solution is to restart the Air 200. The new version does look a lot better but no idea how to save radio stations to a preset

### 3/5 — It’s pretty basic

*2018-05-12*

It seems to fix the buggyness of the old minx app but you can’t power the unit via the app anymore. Also the auto power down doesn’t seem to work. Really it’s just an interface for searching internet stations and some EQ functions.

### 2/5 — Connection problems

*2022-09-30, version 2.0.1*

When it works it’s okay. But now won’t find my device. (Tried off/on, delete/reinstall, restart iPad/iPhone)

### 2/5 — Unfinished

*2020-05-15, version 2.0.0*

Want to like this, but doesn’t seem to be intuitive. Worked out how to change preset but then couldn’t turn radio off from the app. Could be really useful with some updates.

### 2/5 — Finally updated but not much improvement

*2020-02-22, version 2.0.0*

This app is important in using several expensive audio components. Cambridge does not support their software well examples of this include: sleep timer no longer works and app is glitchy without any support. While Cambridge makes nice electronics, I recommend avoiding them given the horrible software support.

### 2/5 — Slow, crashes, and can't configure my air

*2016-10-07, version 1.0.31*

What can it do:
- tune an internet radio station
- adjust volume
- sometimes set a preset station
- crash

What can't it do:
- configure the auto power off setting
- let you search for stations in an area (by zip code for example or based on the phone's gps location)
- display station names (only shows graphics and so if there isn't a graphic you can't tell what station is in a preset)
- give reasonable feedback as to what is happening. Did I really tap that station? Let me wait 10 seconds and see!
- let you have more that 10 favorite stations

### 2/5 — This app is in desperate need of an update

*2016-04-26, version 1.0.31*

-The app isn't optimised for iPhone 6(+) display
-Often fails to find the minx air
-Will turn off whatever's playing on my phone when opened
-Does not turn the device on and off from standby
-Takes far to long to connect and reconnect
-Preset saving isn't intuitive, and you seem to have to have 10 set, even if I only want 4 stations.

The app could should include many more options eg one time sleep, alarm clock style wake, that would make it great, but just like the speaker itself the exclusion of the the product has fallen short of what it could have been.

I own six Cambridge Audio speakers, and the Minx is just as disappointing as the app. It's extremely load when first playing AirPlay audio, and has far too much bass for spoken audio.

I hope Cambridge Audio are disappointed in themselves, they should be. I will research more when buying more than a normal speaker from them in future.

### 2/5 — Really poor app

*2016-01-01, version 1.0.31*

Really not great. Crashes frequently. Clunky interface. Impossible to modify the "auto power-down" settings in the device as there's no "save" option. This app really doesn't have to do much, but it still fails to do it. Apologies, but I'm not impressed.
