## What is Cameo iDMX Version 2?

Cameo’s iDMX® APP Version 2 enables convenient wireless control of lighting setups. 

The app permits programming and real-time editing light shows in a quick and intuitive way.
 
Arrange fixtures in groups, create custom colours, generate effects and activate up to eight of them in parallel. The Cameo iDMX® APP supports a full DMX universe of 512 channels and all RGB, RGBA, RGBW, RGBWA, RGB+UV and RGBWA+UV lightsfixtures. It includes a timer to start and stop your lighting performance automatically.

The iDMX® APP requires Cameo’s iDMX® CORE interface. This battery powered WiFi receiver integrates a 2.4 GHz W-DMX™ transmitter with up to 300 m operating range. It allows you to control both standard DMX and W-DMX™ enabled fixtures with the app.

Cameo’s iDMX® APP Version 2 is a complete rewrite of the App from scratch. 
We collected feedback on the first app version and worked intensively with key users on these brand new features:

### 3/5 — Macht was es soll

Jetzt habe ich die App mit einem iDMX Core schon länger im Einsatz. Da die App nur mit dem iDMX Core zusammenarbeitet ist meine Rezession letztlich für beide Produkte. Für mein Verständnis sind zu wenige Cameo Produkte zur Auswahl in der App aufgelistet. Alleine hier würde ich mir etwas mehr wünschen. Fremdprodukte sind nur über Generic Dimmer oder ähnliche Fixture von Cameo zum einbinden möglich. Die Auswahl der Programme ist enorm. Da kann man auch schnell die Übersicht verlieren. Für kleine Shows mehr als ausreichend. Wer was ändern will muss sich allerdings auch etwas experimentieren. So richtig anfreunden konnte ich mich aber hier auch noch nicht. Szenen zu erstellen ist dennoch gut möglich. Funktionen wie automatisch eine Show starten habe ich bisher nicht getestet. 
Grösster Kritikpunkt sind die Möglichkeiten das Gerät in ein anderes WLAN ein zu binden. Als AccessPoint Standalone macht das WLAN keine Probleme so lange man sich nicht zu weit entfernt. Oftmals hatte ich aber bereits nach 15m keine Verbindung mehr. Hier würde ich mir die Möglichkeit, das Gerät in ein anderes WLAN einzubinden besonders begrüßen. 
Fazit, Inbetriebnahme und Installation mit der App einfach. Verbindung zu den Empfängergeräten nach lesen der Bedienungsanleitung hatte bisher wenig Probleme bereitet. Fixture auswählen und Show erstellen, ja aber…
Fremdes WLAN nutzen, bisher noch keine Lösung gefunden. Am Ende hatte ich mir etwas mehr erwartet. Die Funkion das Gerät nur als DMX Sender über einen externen Controller zu benutzen habe ich bisher nicht genutzt.
