### 3/5 — Export Error

*2022-11-29, version 5.0.5*

When trying to export the data via email after selecting email the app closes by itself and I am not able to export the data. Please help.

### 2/5 — Not fully functional, it seems

*2022-05-25, version 5.0.3*

I get a "HRV not computed due to poor signal quality" with every attempt, no matter what I do. It would help if I had more information about what that message means.

### 3/5 — Problem

*2021-04-23, version 4.9.9*

I really like this app, I tried it on another phone, too bad it doesn't work on my iPhone 6. The camera does not read my finger

### 2/5 — Not updated for iPhone X display

*2019-05-10, version 4.7.2*

Functionally this app works well and does what it says. However, for the price charged it is inexcusable for the screen size to be limited to the iPhone 5/6/7/8 era and not to have been updated to use the full iPhone X screen.

### 4/5 — Beat

*2018-02-14, version 4.6.6*

Now working with iPhone X camera after last update but if you have Atrial fibrillation may not give good results but that’s not the apps fault.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2018-02-03, version 4.6.5*

The app does not work fine, it is dificult to get green circle. It must be improved.

### 1/5 — Heart rate needs work

*2018-01-24, version 4.6.5*

I couldn’t get an accurate heart rate reading...not even close. Kind of a waste of money. I would recommend offering the app for free while you make your algorithms more accurate.

### 1/5 — Absolutely worthless

*2017-10-10, version 4.6.4*

Readings for hrv never recorded or available so a complete waste of money

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2017-10-08, version 4.6.4*

Circle is green during measurement but then responds with „Couldn’t compute feature“.

### 1/5 — Wish they had try before you buy.

*2017-04-06, version 4.6.2*

Once it worked, every time after that it said that there is a data signal quality problem. I suspect it may not like my heart rhythm. Either way it is worthless to me. It also gives no advice on what your values mean.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2017-03-05, version 4.6.2*

I've never managed to get this app to work. Signal quality always low. HRV4TRAINING works perfectly so but that instead.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work - Funktioniert nicht!

*2016-11-26, version 4.5.8*

The app doubles consequently the heartrate, all data output bases on this incorrect measurement.

Die Anwendung misst konsequent den Herzschlag verdoppelt und gibt Daten aus, die auf dieser fehlerhaften Messung beruhen. Schade!

### 1/5 — What does it mean

*2016-09-23, version 4.5.7*

I have no idea what any of the numbers mean. There needs to be more information about what are bad/normal/good readings.

### 2/5 — I want to love it...

*2016-09-20, version 4.5.7*

I was excited to hear about the accuracy of this app, especially for the cost and ability to use my iPhone to measure HRV. However, no matter what I've tried, the HRV seems very difficult to measure. I tried 12 times and followed the directions provided by the developer on the website and it still won't work. I feel I have wasted my time and money trying to get it to work, which has probably changed my HRV in the morning due to frustration (try as I might not to become annoyed). I think trouble shooting advice should be part of the FAQ - otherwise I have to search a blog not only to figure out how to get an accurate reading but also to learn how to interpret the data. I'm sure the companion tracking app helps with that, but not if the program cannot calculate my HRV.

### 1/5 — Didn't work

*2016-07-23, version 4.5.6*

I just kept telling me "HRV not computed due to low signal quality". I kept my finger over the camera as it instructed.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-01-21, version 5.0.9*

Consistently says low quality, not worth it.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-04-03, version 4.9.8*

Alway says low quality, using iPhone max pro.
So have stopped using.

### 1/5 — Stopped working, red circle doesn’t appear

*2021-01-17, version 4.9.4*

I paid for this and a few months later it just stopped working. I can’t speak to the science behind it but it did work as sold for those months. Low rating is due to how it stopped working and the lack of support to fix.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and still not working. Cleaned my camera. Re read directions, googled. Nothing.

App developer says we can tweet him, I only use Twitter for work, so. Maybe they will see this and reply? FX.

### 1/5 — Timer won’t start

*2021-01-17, version 4.9.4*

I have used this twice and now the timer doesn’t start. This is beyond frustrating.

### 1/5 — Not working / no funciona

*2020-10-10, version 4.9.0*

La he comprado para hacer un estudio y no toma bien las pulsaciones ni me da resultados de la variabilidad de la frecuencia cardiaca. 1 de cada 10 veces funciona. Para esto no lo hubiera pagado.

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing

*2020-04-21, version 4.8.1*

Used to love this but now every time I measure on my iPhone it crashes

### 1/5 — Não funciona no meu iPhone 8

*2019-09-10*

Quero estorno no meu cartão, como faço pra cancelar a compra....

### 1/5 — Crushing up

*2018-10-18*

It doesn't works... it crushes just before finishing the measurements...

### 1/5 — 3 readings in a row with totally different output!

*2018-09-16, version 4.6.7*

Does not work.
3 readings in a row without changing the setting and I got 3 completely different readings! Spare your money!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work, never gets good data

*2018-08-12, version 4.6.7*

I’ve had this app for a couple of years. It never worked from the day I got it, even after multiple updates. I’ve tried it numerous times, and the app hasnever been able to generate an HRV number due to “poor signal quality. “

This is unfortunate, as the companies other app, HRV4Training, is excellent and highly recommended. Use that up with a heart rate monitor and you’re golden. Ignore this app, it’s not worth your time.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Huge Improvement

*2020-05-01, version 4.8.5*

The new version is a HUGE improvement in signal acquisition. Works much better and has more consistent analysis. I tested this against a laboratory grade HRV instrument and it was quite close. It would be a good app addition for lay people to state “normal” levels and explain the different features and how they impact health and HRV. Would also be nice to choose which studies to graph together to show trend.

This is better than most consumer HRV. If you are serious about measuring you HRV and want it to be easy and accurate, you need this. Very reasonable price too.

### 5/5 — Does work

*2018-05-12, version 4.6.6*

Works very well, computed values seem to be correct.

### 5/5 — It works just fine

*2018-02-17, version 4.6.6*

I was skeptical to buy after reading the previous reviewers rating. But it actually works quite well. Yes, it takes a little practice and actually requires reading the instructions. But compared to a $150 chest strap monitor, this app is genius. I actually went ahead and then bought the whole package of apps by the developer because I wanted to support a great app!

### 5/5 — Great and usefull App

*2016-06-28, version 4.5.5*

Very good and relayable app! measurement are accurate and shown in meaningfull way! camera detection work fine, i compared it with a cardio strap with the other great app from the same author (HVR Logger) and there is a surprising coherence! Bravo Marco! and Alessandra too of course!!!

### 5/5 — Excellent!

*2016-05-12, version 4.5.3*

This is excellent. No need for a sensor which have always caused me problems, easy to use and great recording stats. Thanks a lot for a great product and a bargain price considering the valuable health information it contains. A bit annoyed I spent £50 on a rubbish finger sensor and extra money for an app from another company!

### 5/5 — User friendly

*2015-09-13, version 4.4.6*

I like the added picture to show the camera is completely covered.
I'm still trying to determine how best to incorporate it clinically.

### 5/5 — Training Aid for a Winning Performance

*2014-04-28, version 2.8*

Great app to manage your HRV without a HR monitor so you can execute an endurance sport training program without overtraining. I used this app for the last 3 months of my prep for the 2014 Boston marathon. I am a 56 year old female who wanted to run under 4 hours. Injuries due to over training kept my performances in my last 5 marathons between 4:01 & 4:06. Using HRV to assess the state of my nervous system (relaxed or stressed) I could better manage the level of exertion as well as rest in my daily training sessions. Result: 3:46:02 Boston Marathon which ranked me 56 of 768 in my division. A winning performance for this 'weekend' athlete.

### 5/5 — Impressive app

*2014-01-12, version 1.0*

I am a cardiologist exploring new ways to use smartphone as a diagnostic tool. This app is one of the best example of “iPhone as diagnostic tool” I have found. The design of this software is more sophisticated than other heart rate devices in the app store. The smoothing algorithm with cubic spline method is ingenious. The programmer validated his HRV measurement with validated clinical instrument and this enhanced the trustworthiness of his method. One small piece of advice: Bland-Altman plot and paired t-test should be used to compare the camera HRV with the clinical gold standard measurement. Overall, I am really impressed by its sophistication. I wish you good luck in your future project.

### 4/5 — Stopped working

*2020-08-18, version 4.8.9*

I used this app for the last year and really liked it but in the last month the timer has stopped working so it only tracks number of beats per minute and nothing else. Maybe it needs to be updated to keep up with the iPhone updates?

### 4/5 — Please make it available for iPhone 7+

*2019-04-02, version 4.7.2*

It would be great if it was optimized for iPhone 7+, would be a 5 star if you can make it happen.
