## What is Camera to Files?

Stop saving everything to Photos. Shot2File saves directly to Files, iCloud Drive, and OneDrive.
Choose a folder once, then capture photos, videos, and scans that land exactly where you want them — fast, clean, and organized.

Built for a faster workflow:
- Save directly to Files, iCloud Drive, or OneDrive
- Smart Naming with 21 tokens — date, time, place, device, EXIF, sequence, and more
- Optional Auto-Sort into Year / Month / Day folders
- Photo, Video, and Scan in one simple camera
- Quick Reveal in Files and easy sharing
- Volume buttons as shutter (optional)

Pro camera control
Tap to focus and meter. Long-press to lock AE/AF and drag the reticle handle to bias exposure exactly where you want it. Lens chips are labeled (Ultra-Wide, Wide, Tele) so you always know which one is active. Self-timer (3s / 10s) and expanded grids — rule of thirds, square, golden spiral, and diagonals — for cleaner framing.

Powerful scanning
Create multi-page PDFs with color, grayscale, or black-and-white modes, plus DPI and margin controls. Pro unlocks on-device OCR with multi-language detection so the text inside scanned pages is searchable in Files, Preview, and Spotlight.

Better capture control
Choose photo format (JPEG/HEIC) and quality. Record video with stabilization. Pro unlocks up to 4K/60 video with full stabilization control.

Smart Naming
Build any filename pattern with tokens for date, time, weekday, place (reverse-geocoded city), device model, image dimensions, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, GPS, sequence numbers, and more. Live preview while you type.

Bulk Rename (Pro)
Rename existing photos, videos, and PDFs in any folder using your current template — with one-tap undo.

OneDrive that just works
Upload to OneDrive Personal or Business. If your network drops mid-upload, Shot2File queues the file and finishes it the moment connectivity returns.

Made for frequent use
Pin favorite folders for one-tap saving. Free includes 1 Favorite. Pro unlocks unlimited Favorites.
Use Siri or the Action Button to launch straight into the camera or scanner — no menus, no app picker. Spotlight indexes each capture action, so you can search "take a photo" and shoot.

Try Pro
Get a 15-minute Pro preview. Additional Favorites require permanent Pro.

### 3/5 — Needs a size fix for smaller phones

*2026-05-31*

I know many apps these days have a newer bigger iPhones, but I have a iPhone SE 3rd and, and for some reason, because of the UI size, the capture button was cut off halfway before the bottom of the screen. I was thankfully able to use the setting to use volume button as a workaround.

**Developer response:** You're right, sorry about this. The new layout in 1.1.1 doesn't
fit smaller screens like the SE 3rd gen, so the shutter button
gets cut off. Working on a fix now. Really glad the volume button
option got you through in the meantime.

### 4/5 — Great app, missing a few things

*2026-05-11*

Let me start by saying this app is fantastic and I’ve been looking everywhere for something like this. However, the reason I’m only giving it four stars is because it’s still missing certain functionalities such as Live Photos and things of the sort. But conceptually amazing and so far so good.

**Developer response:** Live Photos is something I'm actively working on. I had it half-wired
into 1.1 but pulled it back because it wasn't quite ready. Trying to
get it in properly for the next release. If there's other stuff
you're missing, please tell me what so I can prioritize. Thanks for
the kind words.

### 3/5 — Room for improvement

*2026-05-03*

With camera controls on the screen, it uses what your camera actually sees (top and bottom) instead of scaling. Instead of scaling the view so you see the whole image. Also. When you hide controls and take pics, there's no confirmation when you pres shutter. So the ux is not there yet. Not worth pro feature. Thinking of vibe coding something myself

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback, really helpful. You’re right on both. The camera view should match the actual photo, and there should be some kind of confirmation when you hit the shutter. Both are going in the next update. Hope you’ll give it another shot when it’s out.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.1.0 — 2026-08-14

Full-Screen Viewfinder
The camera preview now fills your entire screen edge-to-edge — no more black bars. Areas outside your selected aspect ratio are gently dimmed so you can see beyond the frame while knowing exactly what you're capturing. Inspired by how Apple's own Camera app handles it.

Floating Controls
All buttons and controls now float over the live preview with translucent backgrounds instead of sitting in opaque bars. More viewfinder, less chrome.

Better on Every Screen Size
The new layout adapts naturally to every iPhone — from SE to Pro Max — without cramped previews or wasted space.

### 2.0 — 2026-07-31

• Google Drive support — sign in once and save photos and scans straight into any Drive folder.
• Faster OneDrive folder browsing — deep folder trees load in a fraction of the time.
• Fixed OneDrive sign-in occasionally getting stuck after long idle periods.
• Various polish and stability improvements.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-07-11

- Burst mode: in Photo mode, hold the shutter or a volume button to fire a rapid burst, then let go to stop. There's an on-screen counter, and a switch in Settings to turn it off.
- Better fit on smaller phones: the top camera controls no longer get cut off on compact screens like the iPhone SE.
- Faster with thumb drives and SD cards: quicker loading, and photos now save instantly and copy to your drive in the background instead of making you wait.
- Fixed a "low memory" message that could briefly pause the preview right after launch.

Thanks to everyone sending detailed feedback. Keep it coming.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-06-23

v1.2 — the polish release. Most of it came from your reviews.

- Live Photos
- Aspect ratio toggle (4:3 / 16:9 / 1:1) — what you see is what
  gets saved
- Tap to focus, long-press to lock AE/AF, drag the sun for exposure
- New HUD inspired by Apple Camera, plus a Reviewer mode for EXIF
- Smart Naming — nine new tokens (place, device, ISO, aperture,
  shutter, and more)
- Bulk Rename (Pro) — rename existing files in a folder with undo

Fixed: camera-not-starting if you decline mic, the iPhone SE shutter
cutoff, the lens label hysteresis. Thanks for telling me what felt off.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-05-07

v1.1.1 fixes:

- Photo mode now starts properly even if you decline mic permission.
This was a real bug — sorry it slipped through.
- What you see in the preview is now what gets saved. The session
was running 16:9 while the photo was 4:3, so saved photos had
  extra above and below.
- Quick screen flash on shutter so you know the photo actually fired.

Still working on a few rough edges, including a way to make the
viewfinder use more of the screen. If something feels off, please
tell me — I read every review.
