The app should allow the camera to have its screen set. I Tried recording to both my phone and iPad and expected lower quality there. But the recording on the camera it self was terrible compared to manual operation. Then the app never recognizes my camcorder. I spent good money on the camcorder in order to be able to remotely control it with this app. So far, I have been nothing but frustrated and totally disappointed. What a waste! Unfortunately, their support documentation is terrible. Went to their website and the information they have is embarrassing. Better documentation is a must. Was am Anfang echt einfach aussah entpuppte sich als Flop. Verbindung: Unter Einstellungen WLAN aus und wieder einschalten und dann die legria auswählen (zuerst muss bei der legria die wlanfuntkion eingeschaltet werden) Die App reagiert sofort und erkennt die Kamera. Handling: was einfach aussieht ist fast einfach. Denn wenn man die App schließt muss die Verbindung nochmals manuell über Einstellungen aufgebaut werden. Größter Fehler: Die App nimmt nicht flüssig auf sonder lädt das Video immer nach ein paar Sekunden neu. Das führt dazu dass man immer drei Sekunden Videomaterial hat und dann erstmal drei Sekunden Rückbildung. Dann wieder Video, dann wieder stillstand. Sometimes it will, most times it will not. Because usage is unreliable is why I give it one star. Purchased the Vixia HF R80 just for this feature. I was only able to connect once. We use two Canons and Two apps to record college volleyball matches for scouting and stats. We use it at least 3 times a week for 16 weeks. Never ever had an issue. ### 5/5 — Using "Monitor from Home" mode - works great *2016-04-16, version 1.7.0* I am using the "Monitor from Home" option with this app, and my Canon Vixia HF R52. Phone is iPhone 6s+. This works great. I would like to see an option that lets me livestream broadcast using Vixia video camera as source, directly to Facebook Live and YouTube live. Other apps are doing this for other cameras. I would pay for this app feature. Please contract me regarding this. I am a software engineer. Here's how I connected my phone to the Vixia using the Monitor from Home option: On Vixia, in recording mode, choose the top left home menu button. On that screen, choose the "Remote Control+Streaming" menu. Button image for this menu looks like a smartphone. It should be on the right. Tap that button or slide to bring that button to the center of menu. Tap it (phone icon) again to enter into the Remote Control+Streaming menu. Now there are 3 options on the left: "Monitor from Home", monitor remotely, and options. Tap "Monitor from Home". Follow instructions on that screen, which says to connect your phone's wifi to the Vixia's wifi on your phone. Note: unless you are connected to a mobile network, this will disable the Internet on your phone. You will need to verify your phone connects back to your regular internet wifi after your Vixia connection is ended. On your phone, go to the wifi menu and it should display the Vixia wifi. Connect to that wifi using the credentials displayed on the Vixia "Monitor from Home" screen. On the Vixia "Monitor from Home" screen, it should say "Connected". Now open the free "CameraAccess plus" app on your phone. Under "Monitor from Home", tap the Start button. It may flash a "searching" notice but quickly you should see an entry on the app screen that says "[OK]". Tap that and you should see the real-time video of your Vixia displayed on your phone. ### 3/5 — HF R50 *2018-06-25, version 1.7.1* I just purchased a used (but unused) HF R50. I did the typical Google searches prior to buying and knew going in that there was a lag with wi-fi playback. I downloaded this app knowing that with the micro SD card that wi-fi features probably wouldn’t ever be needed. It serves a useful purpose but in all reality, I’m going to be inserting the micro SD card into my computer to save videos and to send videos! Though it probably doesn’t reach the acceptability of those that might use the features, it does for those of us that use it as a bonus feature, because we don’t rely on the app for day to day uses. ### 3/5 — App works *2014-05-26, version 1.0.14* This app works at 60i due to the bandwidth limits of 2.4ghz wifi (tested with r50). The lag leaves something to be desired and I'd have placed the wifi external by adapter to allow easy upgrade to 5ghz with an hdmi video feed( more than 300mb stream). However, for making minute adjustments to pan and other settings, this is a great app. Great for my current purpose. Ease of use leaves something to be desired (changing exposure settings etc). ### 2/5 — Poor functionality *2015-03-25, version 1.6.2* Zoom controls are unresponsive. The camera does not actually zoom while you are touching them; instead it zooms afterward. Display on the iPhone does not shift to "landscape" when you turn the phone, unlike almost every other app. On this app it would be helpful, because the dispaly would then match that of the camcorder. Why can't Canon make a simple little cheap remote control that zooms and turns the camcorder on/off, which is all this does?
