### 4/5 — Cabela’s smoker by camp chef

*2026-06-14, version 2.5.10*

App works well. It’s a little clunky and I don’t like that I have to go through the Cabela’s app and ads to get to the smoker. Overall it works good.

### 3/5 — Smoker

*2026-06-07, version 2.5.10*

Smoker works great but I have been frustrated with the WiFi feature. It’s not connecting and without being on the network i cannot set goal temps or control it remotely. Also, I think it is a huge mistake to have the door opening in the same direction as where you load the pellets. The door should be mounted on the other side so you can set things on the shelf outside of the smoker so you can have a free hand when you’re loading things into the smoker.

### 4/5 — Hidden network

*2026-05-22, version 2.5.10*

This app would not allow me to log onto a Hidden Network

### 3/5 — Not connecting and timer

*2026-05-17, version 2.5.10*

Why didn’t the old app integrate the new updated app? I had to completely start over and rebuild the connection to the grill. It did have my historical cooks there I noticed. Grill not connecting to the WiFi it was connected to just before I updated it. It sees my network but fails to connect. Multiple attempts so far.
I liked the timer the way it was so far. Trying to see a work around or figure out why you changed it. Maybe I’m missing something. It was great before.

### 3/5 — Needs strong WiFi to the Grill

*2026-05-08, version 2.5.9*

Once I got the WiFi signal figured out most of my connection issues resolved. Otherwise a nice simple app not over-cluttered. Set the temp, set the smoke and check temps on my phone instead of going out to the grill. Still has the odd connection issues and wasn’t the easiest to get connected.

### 3/5 — Okay… but could be better

*2026-05-08, version 2.5.9*

Would love to see an option to automatically change temp settings once hits a certain temp. GMG has this feature and it was awesome. Would be great to tell it to drop to 160 after the meat hits 200 so doesn’t over cook too bad

### 3/5 — I should have gotten a Traeger

*2026-05-02, version 2.5.9*

This grill was way overpriced for the performance it provides. The temps are inconsistent on almost every cook. The temp probe has to be constantly cleaned.
If given the chance to change my purchase, I would have chosen to get a Traeger or even a Pit Boss. I won’t purchase one again.

### 2/5 — Connection issues

*2026-04-13, version 2.5.9*

I love my Camp Chef, but this app is absolutely terrible. Connection issues with WiFi and Bluetooth. Had the app for the past 3-4 years and they still haven’t fixed the issues. It hasn’t let me add a target temperature for the probes like it’s supposed to. There is a lot wrong with this app.

### 3/5 — Apple Watch

*2026-04-12, version 2.5.9*

Ok. Only complaint is that it is not Apple Watch compatible. I’d give it 4 stars if it worked with the watch as well.

### 2/5 — Doesn’t stay connected

*2026-04-07, version 2.5.9*

I’ve had a camp chef for awhile and I cannot keep this app connected and most times when I open the app it crashes

### 1/5 — Absolute Garbage

*2026-04-05, version 2.5.9*

Does it issue noise generating notifications when it runs out of fuel? No. Does it predict time to done, like every aftermarket thermometer? No. Does it remember last settings, offer the ability to save cook and recipe details, provide good push notifications for target temps, offer lock screen app? No, no, no. This was probably a one and done software contract to build an app and then do zero ongoing improvements.

### 1/5 — Trash

*2026-04-05, version 2.5.9*

Notifications all on, everything enabled, no messages come to my phone ever. What’s the point of having a probe and an app if you can’t have it alert you when it gets to temperature? First camp chef woodwind 36 was dead on arrival so should have called it quits on this pos then…

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2026-04-05, version 2.5.9*

The interface is awful. Connected two times then even after factory reset no connectivity.

### 2/5 — Maybe a firmware update?

*2026-04-04, version 2.5.9*

I consistent get WILD temperature swings. Set to 210F at smoke 6 and go between 275 and 155 and back in 20 minute segments for hours. Like a drunk guy steering a tanker. Could a firmware update slow down the auger, or temp regulator’s reaction to be more stable? Really ruins longer cooks - which also tend to be more expensive for both meat and pellets.

### 1/5 — Pathetic

*2026-04-01, version 2.5.9*

This app is useless. It won’t connect. The developer is clearly incompetent

### 3/5 — Good

*2026-03-30, version 2.5.9*

Camp chef makes a good pellet grill but it does have its problems. The control screen for WiFi or manual is blue and all the writing is supposed to be white however the blue screen makes the white lettering look a lighter shade of blue. This makes the screen very difficult to read and if the sun is shining on it you will not be able to read anything.
I changed my manual to WiFi hoping it would be easier to control. Sometimes the WiFi hooks up immediately but most of the time it can take quite a while if at all. My brother has a Traeger and he has a lot less problems.

### 2/5 — It was decent

*2026-03-24, version 2.5.9*

The app was decent but now there is no graph and i cant set target temps for the probes. Please fix it.

### 1/5 — Love the Smoker, not the app

*2026-03-22, version 2.5.9*

It doesn’t stay connected. It won’t allow me to put in and save a target temp. The app is horrible and camp chef never fixes anything. It’s been this way for years, even with updates.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Serious connection issues

*2026-06-10, version 2.5.10*

We use our smoker twice a week and have never had good service. The Bluetooth is terrible on our smoker. No other issues with any Bluetooth devices.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2026-05-27, version 2.5.10*

After support phone call and two hour still won’t connect.

### 1/5 — Control panel on Woodwind is very user unfriendly. Extremely difficult to navigate.

*2026-05-23, version 2.5.10*

Pitiful

### 1/5 — Not a smooth change

*2026-05-20, version 2.5.10*

Maybe I’m not doing it right, but I’ve updated plenty of apps, this one’s not going too smooth.

### 1/5 — Sorry excuse for an app

*2026-05-16, version 2.5.10*

I can be right beside my router and app still cuts out. This is the sorriest excuse for an app I’ve ever seen. I knew I should have bought a traeger

### 1/5 — Come on

*2026-05-10, version 2.5.9*

Come on CampChef. I can deal with the app, but the constant crashing is little frustrating. Please spend the few hours of dev time to address these bugs. They can’t be that hard to fix.

### 1/5 — Great smoker the app is terrible

*2026-05-08, version 2.5.9*

This app is completely unreliable: some days it works properly, but most of the time you connect only via Bluetooth, with WiFi not working and this losing the possibility to leave home while cooking. Recently the app completely lost the pairing with the smoker (it’s connected in the phone Bluetooth setting screen but not on the app) and I had to hard reset the controller twice, it worked for a couple of cooks and then disappeared again. If knew the app was so unreliable I would have never purchased a camp chef unit

### 1/5 — Wi-Fi

*2026-05-06, version 2.5.9*

Wi-Fi very unreliable

### 1/5 — App issues

*2026-04-28, version 2.5.9*

Cannot set target temp on app. Hasn’t been fixed in several years

### 1/5 — App is trash

*2026-04-19, version 2.5.9*

Sure wish I could use my smoker. But the smoker wont connect to the app

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love this App

*2026-05-15, version 2.5.10*

I see that this app now says “old.”
So clearly an update is necessary. I logged into the App Store to download the new version and I was surprised to see how poorly reviewed this app is. When it comes to functionality it executes perfectly. it accurately trends my probe temperatures. It sends me alerts when something goes wrong like a grease fire. It allows me to change the smoke intensity and the temperature through the app even when I’m sitting in Church. It doesn’t spam me with a single ad. It does just exactly what it needs to do. If I had to pick the best app on my phone, it surely would be this one. Wise up people realize how great you have it.

### 5/5 — Making Bbq Easy

*2026-03-27, version 2.5.9*

Love my Camp Chef SG makes smoking dinners with ease. I had a few problems and Camp Chef has helped me out and the smoker works great.

### 5/5 — Recipes.

*2026-01-30, version 2.5.9*

It would be nice to have access to recipes or cooking guidelines available on the App.

### 5/5 — Alarm When Target Temp. Reached

*2025-12-24, version 2.5.9*

I could use a feature that would enable my phone to notify me when the goal temperature for a probe is reached.

### 5/5 — Top of the line

*2025-12-01, version 2.5.9*

I could not be more pleased with Camp Chef and the quality of the grill. Definitely worth the money. Had a pit boss before, and I can honestly say this is 10 times better.

### 5/5 — Great smoker good app

*2025-11-29, version 2.5.9*

It’s been about a year of solid use now. The smoker is 5 years old now, and the initial app was buggy that’s now been all sorted out the past year. Keep up the great work and please QA and future updates as it’s super solid now!!!

### 5/5 — Temperature probes constantly fail.

*2025-09-14*

I love my Camp Chef wood win 24. Does a lot of things perfectly. The big fail, temperature probes! The four that I received when I originally bought my Camp Chef smoker have all failed. I got one a couple years ago., But then they are out of stock. I personally think Camp Chef should guarantee guaranteed these defective temperature probe.

### 5/5 — Best of the Best

*2025-07-31, version 2.5.9*

Just bought my second Camp Chef. Upgraded to the woodwind pro so that I have a smoke box. Hope it lasts as well as my previous Camp Chef

### 5/5 — Camp Chef

*2025-07-24, version 2.5.9*

Fantastic smoker!!

### 5/5 — Great pellet grill w/ WiFi

*2025-07-04*

I love smoking with this pellet grill and app connected to unit w/ WiFi allows me to hang in house to watch game in comfort. Although I follow temp, I like setting a timer to remind me when to turn ribs, etc. If the timer showed up in the corner of main screen where my 4 probes show temp, smoke & set grill temp, I would be so happy. Otherwise, I have to jump back & forth.
