## What is Campaign Journal?

Campaign Journal is a companion app for Fifth Edition (5e) tabletop roleplaying games. If you play a 5th edition TTRPG and want to enhance your quest tracking and notes, this is built for you.

Two halves of one book: a codex that holds your campaign together, and a bestiary of everything that tried to end it. @Mention anything in any note and that name keeps a page of its own.

THE CODEX
Quests and their objectives, session notes, NPCs, locations and loot. One place for everything the party has done, and everyone they have done it to. @Mention a quest while you write up the night, and the quest knows which session raised it.

THE BESTIARY
331 monsters and creatures from the SRD. A creature only becomes known once you have met it. Discover its Armour Class, the damage it shrugged off, the trick that finally worked and the one nobody wants to repeat. @Mention it while you write, and that night shows on its entry. What you end up with is not a reference book. It is a record of what your party learned, and what it cost.

Characters and campaigns are yours to keep. Bring them to a new table years later and they still remember what fire does to a troll!

@MENTIONS: EVERY NAME KEEPS A PAGE
Type @ and pick an NPC, quest, location, item or creature. That name keeps a page of its own from then on: the NPC's entry lists the night you met them and what they gave you, and tonight's notes still read as a sentence. Names stay live: rename someone and every mention of them follows. You write it once, and it is waiting for you when you go looking.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. No sign-up. No tracking. Every word in your journal is yours. Everything stays on your device and nowhere else. Works fully offline, at any table.

FREE TO TRY
Full access free for 28 days. After that a single one-off payment keeps it for good. No subscription, ever. Whatever you have written stays yours either way.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-26

New in this version:

The free trial is now 28 days, up from 14.

A place opens as a page rather than a form. Tap one and you get what it is, where it sits, what is inside it, your notes and any quests you raised there. The pencil in the corner opens it for editing.

The Places tree draws lines showing what sits inside what, and every place carries a small mark for its kind. Names beginning with "The" now file under their real letter, so The Cinderworks sits with the C's instead of piling up under T.

A dungeon can be filed inside a town now, not only inside a region.

Minor bug fixes.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-08-28

New in this version:

A short tour when you first open the app, so an empty journal makes sense from the start. You can read it again any time from Settings.

A demo campaign you can load and look round. It is yours once it is there: add to it, change it, or delete it like any other.

A character's picture can now come from the camera or your photo library, not just your files.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-18

Bug fixes:
- The mention picker now closes when you leave a note, and no longer opens by itself.

### 1.0 — 2026-08-18

No release notes.
