## What is CampusFuel?

CampusFuel is a calorie and macro tracker built around your dining hall. Not a generic food database. It has the actual menu, at your actual school, updated daily.

Generic trackers make you guess. Was that chicken 4oz or 6oz? Which of the 40 "grilled chicken" entries is the right one? CampusFuel already knows what's being served at your dining hall today, with real nutrition data attached. Pick the hall, pick the item, done.

YOUR CAMPUS, ALREADY IN THE APP
• 300+ campuses covered, with over 200,000 menu items
• Every dining hall and station on your campus, with menus that update daily
• Full nutrition for each item: calories, protein, carbs, and fat
• Log a full meal in three taps

LOG ANYTHING, ANYWHERE
• Snap a photo of your plate and get an instant estimate
• Scan barcodes for packaged food
• Scan nutrition labels straight off the box
• Search millions of foods for meals off campus
• Build custom foods and multi-ingredient meals
• Save your regulars for one-tap logging

AI COACH THAT KNOWS TONIGHT'S MENU
Ask "what should I eat to hit my protein today?" and get an answer based on what's actually being served, right now, at your dining hall — and what you've already logged. No other nutrition app can do this.

TARGETS BUILT AROUND YOU
• Calorie and macro targets from your age, height, weight, activity level, goal, and pace
• Calculated with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, the standard used in clinical nutrition
• Adjust targets any time as your goals change

TRACK PROGRESS YOUR WAY
• Daily dashboard for calories and macros at a glance
• Weight log with trends over time
• Progress photos that never leave your phone — stored on your device, never uploaded
• Streaks to keep momentum
• Calorie rollover and Apple Health integration for burned calories

GENTLE MODE
Tracking numbers isn't right for everyone, and it isn't right all the time. Gentle Mode hides calorie counts and targets entirely, so you can keep logging what you eat without a single number on screen. Switch it on or off whenever you want. There's also a Safety Center with resources, one tap away from anywhere in the app.

BUILT BY A STUDENT
CampusFuel started because no nutrition app had dining hall data, and eating on a meal plan meant guessing at every meal. It now covers hundreds of campuses — but it's still built by someone who eats in a dining hall.

Whether you're trying to lose weight, put on muscle, hit your protein, or just eat a bit more deliberately, CampusFuel works with the food that's actually in front of you.

CampusFuel is an independent, student-created app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any university.

### 4/5 — A great app that could use a few additions

*2026-03-25*

The app is generally extremely useful, but there are a few missing/inaccurate values(futurebites BYO bread options showing 0 calories even though it’s listed as 170 on the website. There are a few more but those seem to be an issue with the vt nutrition site.)

Additionally, not being able to manually input macros and calories and having to rely on the AI/general food database is pretty confusing, as the database is useless if you’re cooking, and manually adding macros seems like a pretty easy feature to add(especially since it’s already included in the bar code scanning). Also, for the 2-3 days where barcode scanning was free, it was pretty unreliable from my experience so most of the time I had to change the macros anyway.

With these 2 fixes the app would essentially be perfect and would literally be an auto-download for anybody with a meal plan.

### 5/5 — excellent

*2026-03-24*

app has helped me easily input food from dining halls and also seems to have imported a food database from online. only problem is a few options aren’t updated in teal time such as tazon and choolah doesn’t exist in the app. also, there should be an option to subtract or show activity calories so we can get a real grasp on the exact numbers of net calories in a day. Otherwise, 5 stars!

### 5/5 — Great app, some bugs but they quickly get fixed

*2026-03-19*

I’ve been using this app and have been having fun tracking my food intake! Good app, at first couple of places here at VT here missing but quickly got added upon request.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-03-16*

The features they offer for free are so good and help me track my calories

### 4/5 — Good

*2026-03-16*

Good

### 4/5 — Was good until made me pay

*2026-03-15*

This app was great until added a pro option. You can only track vt meals but the app is marketed as a complete calorie tracker. This app will die off if you need to pay

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! Just to clarify, the core calorie tracking features are completely free and is a complete calorie tracker. Beyond VT dining hall meals, you can search and log any food through the General Foods tab in the food database, which includes a large library of everyday items at no cost.

The only features behind the Pro tier are AI-powered tools and barcode scanning — both of which cost me to run, which is why I can't offer them as free features. Keeping everything else free while covering those costs is the reason Pro exists, not to gate the core experience.

The app is fully functional as a complete calorie tracker without ever paying anything. Typical calorie trackers like myfitnesspal and MacroFactor charge $80 a year just to use the app, our much cheaper $29.99 membership is completely optional and users can always use the apps core features for free. Hope that clears things up!

### 5/5 — GOATED app

*2026-03-06*

Such a lifesaver. So done with copy and pasting everything to MyFitnessPal.

Must download for every VT student
