### 4/5 — Connectivity issues

*2021-11-18*

The app and hardware work great, until the connection is lost. For no apparent reason connection is lost at random times and the only way to fix is to disconnect and reconnect the camera usb cable. Using Sony a7R3.

**Developer response:** We would need a little more info to help troubleshoot. Please don't hesitate to reach out for assistance: https://camranger.com/contact/

### 4/5 — Not yet compatible with iPad Os

*2019-09-28, version 1.03*

I had to downgrade my iPad Pro OS to 12.4.1 as the app won’t function on the new iPad OS.

### 5/5 — Great looking app but

*2019-09-06*

Love the quality and ease ic the new app including many settings in a great looking settings section. At this time I cant get Dropbox to connect in either iphone or ipad apps, when selecting allow it attempts to authorize but fails. Plenty of time before the hardware is released sept 16....please fix Dropbox, great looking new app

**Developer response:** Dropbox transfer has been fixed, thanks.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with newer Fuji cameras

*2021-11-21*

A total let down. Their instructions only go up to the xt2 but I’m using an xt4 and it doesn’t pair with. Sales info and documentation is really misleading because it says it’s compatible. Will be trying to return or selling it on eBay. Capture one might be the only decent tethered option for Fuji cameras

**Developer response:** The CamRanger 2 most definitely works with the XT4. It's probably the most popular Fuji camera used with the CamRanger. You can see the supported Fujifilm cameras here: https://camranger.com/knowledge-base/fujifilm-cameras/

And camera setup instructions are here: https://camranger.com/knowledge-base/fujifilm-setup/

Please do reach out if you need assistance as we are very responsive: https://camranger.com/contact/

### 1/5 — Error - Unable to connect to CamRanger

*2020-04-18*

This highly frustrating setup process has come to a screeching halt with an error code when trying to connect the app to the CamRanger 2 over the CamRanger WiFi: “Error - Unable to connect to CamRanger.” I’m pretty close to getting a return authorization for the whole setup. I want it to work, but this is not a good first impression.

**Developer response:** There are a few reasons why you could be unable to connect. The most common is simply that you need to join the CamRanger WiFi network in the iOS device settings. There are also a few iOS settings that could be causing a conflict: https://camranger.com/knowledge-base/ios-wifi-connection/

And please reach out if you need assistance as we are very responsive: https://camranger.com/contact/

### 1/5 — Not working for Fuji

*2020-01-31*

Didn’t think anything would be as bad as the Fuji remote app. It’s running a close second.

**Developer response:** The feedback we hear is that the CamRanger 2 is vastly superior to Fuji's app. If you are having problems and need assistance, please contact support@CamRanger.com for prompt assistance.

### 2/5 — A step backwards

*2023-11-18*

The older version of this device was smaller, and had a longer battery life. The current version is large, awkward, and has two antennas, which are plastic and easy to break. The new one has more features, none of which I find useful, but you might. The biggest bummer is the battery life - I go through three batteries in a day. Don’t upgrade, but buy version two if you really need it. The company has excellent customer service.

### 3/5 — Great tool that needs improvement

*2026-02-06*

Love it and it is very helpful but for me it is out dated and needs lots of up and up updates

### 3/5 — Pleased emphasize this needs third party Denice

*2023-09-24*

Looking for apps to control Sony camera. This pops up. Download and install. Turned out you need extra hardware.

Pleased include that at the TOP of the product description!

### 3/5 — No Support For Canon R5C

*2023-04-30, version 2.3.5*

CamRanger2 is causing the Canon R5C to crash when the camera is in Video mode. Please can you address this. Thank you!

### 3/5 — Buggy

*2022-07-28*

Tech support is great, but I was with a client at a shoot, and the software would not let me download images to my camera, so it stopped. Tech support said that an update would fix it shortly. Embarassing.

**Developer response:** Yep, there was about a 20 hour period when the app had a bug and certain image formats from certain cameras would not download. Again, we apologize for any hassles.

### 3/5 — No full screen function

*2019-10-02, version 1.03*

When I used canon, this feature was great. My Sony A7RIII has a poor LCD so I would like to see this update soon please.

### 3/5 — App incompatible with iPadOS 13.1

*2019-10-01*

Unfortunately, Apple has not yet approved the version of the app compatible with the latest official release of OS13.1. Looking through the documentation, however, I believe that this will be a good product when it works, but as of now, the hardware is useless to me.

**Developer response:** The app has been updated to support iPad OS13.1.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Always works

*2025-10-17*

Better than camera maker apps that never work..want dependability, go with CamRanger

### 5/5 — Awesome app for full control of your camera.

*2024-08-07*

Works really well with the supplied cables, don’t use an inferior cable or you will not be able to connect to the CamRanger2 module. Good quality cables work fine if you need more cable length. Has lots of useful features and is very reliable, which is needed for professional work. Tried other products, but they just don’t quite measure up, this is a tough act to follow. I would like to be able to build macros to simplify things, hopefully that sort of thing will be in future updates.

### 5/5 — fix the toggle button

*2023-09-05*

Please fix the toggle button as an option for connection mode for Fuji gfx 50s

### 5/5 — camranger2

*2023-01-15*

well, this app is pretty much perfect

### 5/5 — Works GREAT on my iPad

*2021-05-11, version 2.1.2*

So far I have been very pleased with both the app and the unit. I have been able to control my Nikon D500 at least a 100 yards away.

Focus stacking controls work really well!

You can also set up “burst” shots.

So far... solid A with great customer support.

### 5/5 — Absolutely indispensable, and better than the original Camranger in every way.

*2020-12-03*

As an architectural and commercial photographer, the original Camranger changed everything about the way I work for the better. With the increased range and speed of cam range or two, everything is faster, easier, and better than before. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Weddings

*2020-08-26*

I love it! I get shots that couples have no idea how I got them!

### 5/5 — Works well

*2020-05-30*

I’ve wanted something like the CamRanger for years. Shooting architecture while tethered to a laptop was too cumbersome on the move but the trade-off was that I could sometimes miss issues on the small camera LCD. The CamRanger app works well, and is fast. It only takes a second or two to review photos on the iPad. Controlling the camera from iPad is great too.

### 5/5 — superior product

*2019-12-28*

i use camranger2 in conjunction with my Z7 in news shoots. the immediate FTP upload functionality is extremely well implemented and, for me, is alone worth the price of the device. also, not insignificantly, and rare in these times, camranger customer support is top notch. highly recommended: product+app.

### 5/5 — Does the job perfectly

*2019-11-28*

I was looking forward to the release of Cam Ranger 2 and obtained one of the first units. I have been very pleased. The unit and iPad/iOS software has met all my expectations.
