I won’t bother renewing in 2026. ### 4/5 — Never updated *2025-12-16, version 1.5.0* This app is really useful and has guided me to loads of new bars, however it’s not been updated in years. This could be such an awesome resource in helping pubs find new customers and broadening the appeal of real ale. If anyone in CAMRA is reading this, please bring this app back up to date, it’s a win - win. ### 3/5 — Worcester drinker *2025-11-27, version 1.5.0* I have to say that as a paid-up member of Camra I feel aggrieved at being asked to pay extra for the features on the app. Leaves a sour taste like an end- of-barrel pint. My only bugbear is with the map view. When you enter the map view from a search, move to a new location and search again when you re-enter the list view you see the pubs from your original search location - really annoying 🤯 ### 2/5 — Handy, but can’t subscribe *2025-01-24, version 1.5.0* The app has limited functionality unless you buy a subscription, but if you try to buy a subscription, it will not tell you the price and if you go ahead, we’ll just crash. So yes, it will find you a handful of pubs where you are, but otherwise crippled. ### 2/5 — Illogical app *2025-01-15, version 1.5.0* I recently found that the app logged me out having subscribed and it won’t let me or even tell me how much a subscription costs. Because breweries often change brews it can be a bit out of date when looking for a particular beer. Main criticism is that its quite buggy and prone to returning errors, and on an iphone the back button is displayed under the time which means it wont work so you have to close and reopen the app each time. ### 2/5 — Doesn’t recognise subscription *2023-08-16, version 1.5.0* I had a rolling annual subscription for the app (iPhone), but the app has refused to recognise that I had paid for it, so only got “free” features. I just got the subscription renewal reminder for next month - so I’ve cancelled it. Why pay for something it won’t let you use??? ### 1/5 — What’s gone wrong, CAMRA? *2023-02-21, version 1.5.0* I’ve been on automatic subscription to the app for donkeys’ years, but suddenly it’s been cancelled? Admittedly it has only worked on a basic level for months and it hasn’t been updated for a year, but it was a gr8 source of info when out and about. Surely with all the money they get from subscriptions & membership they can afford to put this right?! ### 2/5 — Great resource - can’t subscribe! *2023-02-18, version 1.5.0* This is a great resource, but there’s no way of subscribing and fully utilising the app. I’m left with a half arsed app that tells me I need to subscribe to use the features I want to use. Thanks for that. I’ll have to find something that works. Not just pubs in the GBG are covered. It covers all pubs and has many filters which can applied to your search. I really like this for finding good quality pubs when I’m travelling. Often pubs serving good beer also sell good food, particularly in rural areas, and so can be a bit of a proxy app for that. By showing both GBG pubs and all others then more choices can be made as to where to go. The info for nonGBG pubs can be a bit outdated as requires community updates, but still a very good starting point. As stated, if in rural areas of the country eg NW Scotland then it’s a real godsend. Can’t think of any major issues and for the money I think great value. ### 5/5 — Great app-simple to use lots of info *2021-06-26, version 1.4.4* Enjoy using app-great for visiting different parts of the uk. Can search on location you type in or just use your location. There’s a filter for the good beer guide pubs so you can switch that on and off. Good amount of info and history on pubs and beers both in and out of the good beer guide ### 5/5 — Great source of info *2021-05-16, version 1.4.4* The Good Beer Guide is like a living encyclopaedia of good pubs - yes it’s set up for beer , and it should be congratulated for the long campaign that it’s run to support real beer ; but you’ll rarely find a noteworthy beer in a bad pub ; if someone can be bothered to look after the beer then they’ll look after their pub. I’ve used the GBG for 30 years or more as a point of reference when travelling in the UK. ### 5/5 — Extremely Useful *2021-04-25, version 1.4.4* I find this guide extremely useful especially when travelling to places that I have not been to before. I particularly like being able to use it to find pubs that support CAMRA through the discount scheme etc. ### 5/5 — The Best App for finding Real Ale *2021-04-23, version 1.4.4* I have used this app on many crawls around England. There have been some disappointments, as the list is compiled a year before publication and the standards in some places can be lower than what you are used to.
