However the game is slightly spoiled now due to not being updated for the full screen iPhones (iPhone X and up) which makes the resolution so tiny it actually hinders your playing skills due to not being able to see the character very much. I mean it still is, but in one of the updates along the way you took away the option to have no music, and just have sound effects. This is what made the game for me. Being autistic I can’t tolerate music in games. This is now ruined in tvOS and iOS. Please bring back the silent music and sound effects. Had to re-download it. You need to add some more depth to the game, a “story” mode of sorts. If you find it crashes on launch in iOS 14.x, delete the game and reinstall it and all will be good again. ### 3/5 — Update for iPhone X and Up? *2021-01-30, version 2.42* I utterly adore both Canabalt and Hundreds on iOS, I really do. However both games desperately need a very simple update for users of iPhone X and up. Please note that I’m not necessarily asking for the game to be displayed across the entire screen space of Apple’s latest iPhones like you did with Heist (although that would be even better), however so many really cool games that haven’t been updated in the last couple years now PERMANENTLY display the time, network/WiFi reception strength and battery details on the side of the screen on iPhone X and newer. Yes, even WHILE IN GAME. There’s just no way to manually hide these details at the users end and it’s incredibly annoying and immersion breaking. I’ve spoken to several other devs, and apparently all it takes is swinging a very straightforward update over to Apple HQ, and a few days later, Hey Presto, it’s all sorted. It really would mean the world to your real fans with iPhone X and up. Right now, I’m giving just three stars, but I will gladly bump my rating straight back up to the five stars the actual game deserves and submit a fresh review if this gets sorted. In the meantime, I’ll be keeping my fingers firmly crossed. But it ABSOLUTELY needs to be optimized to be full screen on a iPhone X or newer. ### 4/5 — A classic from my childhood... but *2020-12-16, version 2.42* Don’t get me wrong, I love this game. It’s addictive, fun, and has great atmosphere. But there are things that could be fixed. 1 I wish that you could turn off the music, I like to play my games while listening to podcasts or audiobooks. 2 Maybe a character selector would be nice. I would like to play as the original guy, but now I have to cycle through three other people to get to him. I’m not saying that I don’t want to play as them, but a choice would be nice. 3 A full screen option. That’s it. All of these problems are very minor, in all I think it’s a great game and I’d recommend it to anyone the fan of games like this. ### 5/5 — Is it possible to make a story to the game? *2020-05-07, version 2.42* I don’t know but is it possible to make a story to this game or is just endless scenarios I just thought of that since 2019 and I still wonder if it would be possible to make a story for Canabalt instead of endless scenarios in the game though everything in the game is fine I just think that a story would be cool ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — High Score Broken *2023-07-02, version 2.42* I have written to the developer several times, the high score has been broken for years. I used to play this game every day, I love this game and my high score is still in the top 100 (51,792) of all time. But at some point, my score stopped appearing when I play. It will say I am “New Player” and my daily score will only appear locally - not on the leaderboard. This has functionally ruined the game for me. I have tried everything - different devices, uninstalling, logging out of Game Center, I don’t know what else to do. The game just will not display a high score for me anymore. I would love to have an update that fixes this or at least an explanation of why. Am I shadowbanned for being on the top scores? I’ve never cheated. An explanation would be nice. Even when I silence my phone it will turn off the game music but won’t allow me to play my own. Very disappointed I used to love this game and I bought it to play with my own music from my phone. Found this game on there with all my high scores from 15 years ago. So feeling all nostalgic I figured I’d add a review, but to my surprise I had written one when I got my iPhone 6. Just upgraded to the 16e today and this was the first game I installed.
