### 5/5 — Fabulous app

*2018-03-18*

I've had this app for about 1 1/2 years now and have more than gotten my money's worth out of it. I used it to study for my pstar and now for my ppl. It is constantly updated to stay current.
Rather than having to carry many books around, I can bring the app wherever I go and study from anywhere.
Answers are explained very well.
It's been very useful for tutoring me and very practical.
I would absolutely strongly recommend this app. It's well worth the money.
Update to my review.....I passed the ppp exam two years ago and still use this to test my knowledge and keep it current.

### 5/5 — Up to date!

*2016-12-15*

"Other" pilot study apps available have better interfaces and are better presented, but the questions are out of date or new ones are missing.

Not this one. Up to date, and accurate. I got 89% on my PPL.

### 4/5 — Great tool

*2016-02-21*

It's true you may find a couple incorrect questions/answers and, the interface could use a tweak, but over all this app is worth the money. I Scored 93% on the RPP written exam using this app as my primary study guide. Use the practice exams to find your weaknesses. Use this app's data base of explanations and other sources like TC AIM, Pilots Handbook, etc., to improve your knowledge in those areas. Once you can blow through the practice exams with scores in the 90's you should be able to ace the real thing. I look forward to using this app again in a couple years to prepare for the PPL.

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

*2015-04-16*

Great app. Totally worth the money. Good study guide and great layout... Why did I even do ground school when I just could of used this?!? :)

### 5/5 — wongn834

*2014-11-20*

Awesome app..read it completely for the day before my PSTAR and then sat for it and aced it in 15 mins. Now moving on to PPL.

### 4/5 — Great App for PSTAR studies..

*2014-05-24*

Excellent choice for studying for your PSTAR exam.. Learning features and figures are intuitive and easy to use.. Scrolling can be bit of a hassle though which an inadvertent selection of multiple choice answers be selected..

### 4/5 — Awesome, MUST have

*2014-05-16, version 9.5.8*

A must have for every student...great for on the go, and is constantly updated. I would recommend this to anyone who is studying for their PSTAR, PPAER, etc. Also great review for afterwards! Awesome explanations to EVERY question
The only con: sometimes a multiple choice answer gets accidentally selected when scrolling down the screen.

### 5/5 — Great .

*2014-05-07, version 9.5.8*

Quickly cycle through questions and explanation (pstar)

### 5/5 — Awesome!!!!

*2014-03-03, version 9.5.3*

Super impressed!!

### 5/5 — Love it

*2014-02-17, version 9.5.3*

Amazing app. Got 100%on my PSTAR and now using it for my ppl.

### 5/5 — Excellent study tool and app

*2014-02-06*

I used the Dauntless apps for FAA IFR, CPL, and for my Transport Canada exams (PPL and IFR). I just scored a 97% on my FAA CPL exam. All my scores were high.

I went through all the questions once, then turned on stacks with level 4 and 5 off. Then I turned on level 4 and went through them all again. By the time you've done that, at 20-50 questions per session, you are ready. I've passed every test on the first try very easily.

Out of 100 questions on the FAA CPL, the only surprise was the lack of density altitude chart. I only missed 3 questions.

The only issues I've had (with Safelog, not GroundSchool) were solved quickly via email.

They didn't have a Transport Canada CPL, so I just used the PPL mixed with Harv's Air online ground school. For INRAT, this was the only tool I used and I passed very easily.

Now on to the ATP exam!

Dauntless Software apps are well written, frequently updated, user-friendly, thoroughly researched, and include great support.

Two options are missing which I hope they add later: 1) option to reset stack level on all questions, 2) option to filter out questions with graphics or calls for deep calculations (allows rapid study waiting in line or on smaller iOS device. Regardless, tool is great.

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2014-01-27, version 9.5.3*

When can we expect to see Canadian CPL and ATPL versions?

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2013-11-29, version 9.5.3*

Really great app used it for pstar got 100% and now using it for PPL. Few minor things I wish were different but really great app would recommend!

### 5/5 — Great app for any student private pilot!

*2013-10-19, version 9.5.3*

I used this app studying for both my PSTAR and my private pilot exam, huge help! It even had a few real exam questions! Highly Recommended!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2013-10-03, version 9.5.1*

I forgot the stars, the best app!

### 4/5 — Great app but not In french

*2013-09-15, version 9.5.1*

I love the options on how you can learn first and then take the quiz for PSTAR and private licence. Great job. BUT, many friends of mine at my pilot school didnt buy that app simply because there is no french version In there. It would be very helpfull.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Useless waste- refund asked

*2024-09-14*

Do not waste your money I am a famous blogger and requesting these guys for refund as the app is so trash not useful questions are just nothing like transport canada Study books and sharper edge this is trash

### 1/5 — It’s just ok

*2020-04-11*

After a few weeks of studying for my ppl exam with the app I am decidedly whelmed with its value. If you already have the material in book form from ground school Do Not pay for the material Twice. I suggest the company reduce the cost of the app more than 25% to meet actual value. Not every question has much in the explanation. although every one has a copy and pasted few paragraphs bragging about how their app is good and accurate and gets their information from transport Canada et cetera, et cetera.

### 1/5 — Don't waste your money!

*2016-01-10*

Just did my written PPL exam with Transport Canada !?- and may be only couple questions I got from here !?? Wasted lot of time using this app.
Plus some questions have mistakes .
If you want to get ready for the exam - its not the best source - for the $$$.
If you need PSTAR questions- there are much cheaper apps up here .

### 1/5 — Convoluted approach

*2013-03-28, version 9.0*

Methodology is more complicated than the questions and answers, not a good learning tool, there should be a money back
Guaranty .

### 2/5 — Very slow to load

*2020-12-18*

Since a couple of weeks, the app takes forever to load
iPad 7 iPadOS 14.2

### 2/5 — Errors in Nav answers

*2012-11-27, version 9.0*

Memory based sections quite useful, however, PPL Nav calculation answers have an unacceptably high error rate, and at least one explanation completely reverses time zone theory. Somebody needs to examine this closely.

### 2/5 — Not impressed....yet!

*2012-06-12, version 8.7*

I read the reviews and checked other apps and it seemed like the best choice. Price was a bit high in my opinion but my biggest complaint is that when I try to use the flashcard lessening mode the app freezes then closes, every time! I've checked to make sure I have the update and such and I do. Just ticked off that for 20 bucks I can only use 66% of the app, but paid full price. I won't recommend this app.

### 3/5 — Good content, but horrible UI & UX

*2013-09-01, version 9.5.1*

The app is greate for it's content. But the UI is aweful. And usability is close to unusable. It is also overpriced.

### 3/5 — Crashes

*2013-07-07, version 9.4*

The new setup crashes as soon as it starts I really like this app it's one of my most used but please fix the crashing

### 3/5 — Fix for crashes on older iPod touch

*2012-08-01, version 8.7*

App crashes just before getting to questions in all but quiz mode. Disabling question stacks appears to fix issue.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — GOAT

*2025-02-11*

Got 91 percent

### 5/5 — Good for studying and practice

*2024-01-14, version 10.3.2*

I’ve been using this app to study for my PPAER and I love it. The explanations are in-depth. It’s constantly updated and stays up to date. Everything is well written and straight forward. I’d recommend it.

### 5/5 — Amazing! Please do Canadian CPL

*2023-06-25*

This definitely got me through my PPAER in Canada. Absolutely need a Canadian CPL version. I’m reusing this app now to study for CPAER, but it won’t have everything. Please please develop that.

If you are about to write the PPAER, this app is worth every damn cent. Buy it!

### 5/5 — Must have for Canadian student pilots

*2021-10-29*

I am currently getting my Canadian PPL and love this app. Love the interface. I can save my practice tests to the cloud so I can move between my phone and iPad easily. Best part, The app bins the questions on wether you got them correct or not so you can focus on the problem areas! Aced my PSTAR using it as well!

### 5/5 — An absolute must-have for new pilots

*2021-04-03*

I tell every new pilot I meet that they should work to get their written tests done ASAP to avoid being stalled when it comes time to solo or take a flight test. This app is the best way I’ve seen to get your PSTAR out of the way and help prepare you for your PPL written.

### 5/5 — Best Study Guide

*2019-06-05*

Whomever said you can't have it all has never heard of nor used the Dauntless Aviation Ground School Study Guide. I have purchased, downloaded, followed many broken links on the internet in pursuit of a comprehensive study guide for my Ground School, PSTAR, and Transportation Canada Private Pilot Written Exams studies. All my searching came to an end when I discovered the Canada Private Pilot Test Prep By Dauntless Aviation. I used it from Ground School all the way up to my Instrument rating. The material is easy to understand with detailed explanation on all subjects. I have and will continue to recommend it to my friends and others who are looking for an in-depth program to supplement their in-class experience. Give Dauntless Aviation Canada Ground School, PSTAR, Recreational Pilot, and Private Pilot Written Exam Preparation a try like I have.

### 5/5 — Incredible App

*2019-03-05*

This app is helping me to much especially when I need to practice On the Go, I found the Cloud Sync feature is awesome because I can resume my practice session from any of my iOS devices any time, in the meantime I’m able to monitor my performance through the reports, therefore I’m confident now to decide when I can schedule the actual test and decrease the failures chances.

Thanks Dauntless for such a great tool for Aviators.

Regards,

### 5/5 — Best for PPL exams

*2019-01-23*

I have used this app for my ppl written exam and it’s really helpful and explain pretty good as well in details, I would highly recommend it if you’re trying to get done your ppl exams
Thanks!

### 5/5 — The only app you will need.

*2018-10-06*

This app has awesome flow and takes you through all stages of learning from que cards to practice timed test just like the transport Canada exam. I have used many study aids over the years and I find this app better than ground school. I have recommended this app to many with great success. Thanks Byron.

### 5/5 — PSTAR
