### 5/5 — Don’t go without this program

*2019-10-01, version 3.0.1*

Don’t drive the ice field parkway without this guide. It added enormously to our knowledge of what we were seeing and understanding of the history. It made the trip very special. We listened to it going both north and south.

### 5/5 — A fun and great addition to our road trip!

*2019-10-01*

I admit we were not sure if it was worth the money but downloaded in Calgary before we drove through Banff, Lake Louise, the Icefield Parkway and Jasper.

It is brilliant!!

Just the right tone, engaging, professional and was like a tour guide in our own car. Such a bonus that it does not use and data or talk time - just put location services on and it uses the GPS satellite to locate you and trigger commentary at appropriate points be it history of the area, stories, directions and must do and nice to do stops with just the right amount of explanation.

I hope they do this for road trips across Europe too!

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2019-09-29*

This was a for sure game changer for our vacation to Alberta. The information and history was incomparable to any tour guide out there. So nice and comforting to have a fun and informative tour guide. Especially having no service in most of the areas. Thanks so much and please travel the world and create more. Perfect!

### 5/5 — Amazing & Highly Recommend

*2019-09-29*

Honestly thank you for making such a great app and your material. My wife and I traveled from Calgary to Jasper and back and the drive was full of great information about important landmarks, wildlife, recommended activities, etc. It was like having our own personal tour guide in the car with us and all of the recommendations were bang on. It was very clear, concise and up to date with all of the information. We highly recommend this app and we will be purchasing more tours from GyPSy for future adventures!

### 5/5 — Gypsy App Canadian Rockies

*2019-09-28, version 3.0.1*

This is the best app I have ever used. It was like having a private tour guide in the car with us. So very well done and worked perfectly.

### 5/5 — Really great addition to your road trip

*2019-09-25*

We used this all over Banff, Jasper and the Icefields Parkway, and so glad we did. So many interesting facts and recommendations for stops. Added so much to our road trip - well worth the money.

### 5/5 — The best way to tour the Canadian Rockies!!

*2019-09-21*

I discovered this app a few days before leaving on my trip to Banff/Jasper/Lake Louise, and I am SOOO glad we tried it!! This is EXACTLY what I had been looking for to help us make the most of our trip. We love the freedom of driving around on our own time, at our own pace. GyPSy guide is perfect for pointing out key sites, prioritizing our activities, and learning about the area, historical background, and traveler tips. Informative, entertaining, and spot-on with directions/recommendations (so precise that I was able to turn off my Google maps and just follow “Uncle GyPSy”!). If you’ve ever driven through a new area and thought things like, “What’s that mountain I’m looking at?”, GyPSy guide is for you! I only wish there were more guides available (Iceland, major US cities)...

### 5/5 — this was so much better than thought it would be

*2019-09-19*

This was so much better than I thought it would be. We called the voice Bob and he was so good, so much information but not talking all the time, all the good bits you would normally drive past, you found about. It was like a coach tour but in your own car traveling around , suddenly Bob would share some info and would take you to hidden treasures to see and explore
This is a must and I hope they do more areas

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2019-09-16*

Go on the route with the application and you will be directed to all the things to see, comments about what to look and which way to go. Google maps not allways work in the Rockies so go with Gypsy.

### 5/5 — Must have

*2019-09-14, version 2.8.2*

Made the trip very educational. Couldn’t imagine doing the parkfield without this app! A+++

### 5/5 — Fantastic narrated guide to Canadian Rockies

*2019-09-11*

This narrated guide to the Canadian Rockies is fantastic. It took our trip to Jasper and Banff to a whole other level that we would have never experienced otherwise. We loved it!

It is extremely well researched and scripted and synced to the drive. The narrator is excellent. The information provided is very interesting and educational and helpful.

We had a few times when we were wondering about certain things on the drive when the narration started up and answered our questions. At one point, the narrator said, “By this time you’ve probably seen bighorn sheep“ and right at that moment three big horn sheep were standing by the side of the road waiting to cross the road. It was unbelievable timing.

I highly recommend this guide. You’ll love it too!

### 5/5 — Great!

*2019-09-08, version 2.8.2*

I
We enjoyed Gypsy tours through glacier and Waterton as well as Banff - jasper- Yoho. Well worth the investment. Let you look out the window and not at a map.

### 5/5 — Must have

*2019-09-06, version 2.8.2*

Best decision I made was to download this app! Loved the narration! Learned so much about the area and saw things I would not have seen!! Already looking for other places to go where I can use this app!

### 5/5 — Fantastic !!

*2019-09-06*

This app was both informative and entertaining. It by far contributed to a wonderful drive with insight into incredible viewpoints and trails along the way. I highly recommend this app to anyone driving through the Canadian Rockies! Add this to your list of must buys if you’re vacationing in the Canadian Rockies and renting a car to explore.

### 5/5 — Friend recommended last minute. So thankful they did!

*2019-09-05*

I had no idea about this app and was getting ready to go to Banff, Lake Louise, Icefields, etc when a friend told my wife about this app and how helpful it was. I’m so glad I spent the $20 and got this. The narration was spot on and I learned so much about the area I would’ve never known otherwise. We ended up stopping at places we never would have without this app and I can honestly say there was only one stop that was so-so which was the spiral tunnels. Really not much to see here but it’s at a pull out so not much time wasted. The rest of the suggestions were fantastic.
My wife was upset because she wanted to see more wildlife and all we had seen were birds, squirrels and rabbits. This app was talking about the left hand side of the mountain coming up as we were headed south from the Icefields and how it is a great spot to see mountain goats and sheep horn. So we pulled over at the turnout and sure enough we both immediately spotted a mountain goat. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Superb app, a must have

*2019-08-30*

We used this app on our 7 night tour of Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper. It worked incredibly well and kept our entire family engaged, including 5 and 8 year old boys. The information appealed to people of all ages, and the narrator did a great job. The way the app was triggered by our GPS location was spot on. At one point the guide said we may see some wildlife up ahead, and literally seconds later the kids spotted some sheep. There was so much interesting information on the history, geology, and animals.

I was pleasantly surprised that it provided turning directions that complemented our car’s GPS. We looked forwarding to using the app every time we got in the car. Felt like the guide was with us everyday.

Actually kind of miss him now!

### 5/5 — This app is an absolute “must do”

*2019-08-26*

If you are driving in the Canadian Rockies I “highly, highly recommend that you do not miss” this app (to use a GyPSy-ism). Our family just got back from 9 days in Banff, Jasper, and Yoho — sadly we only found out about this app from another visitor on day 2. But it’s an understatement to say that GyPSy radically altered and improved our trip.

First, some nits in the interest of transparency: the spoken-word volume is a bit low relative to Apple Music. The app brings you to a “getting started” screen every time you load it fresh, and the map re-centers so it’s hard to have a passenger pan around for a route preview during driving.

None of that matters. For the first time on a road trip we didn’t listen to music, or podcasts, or audiobooks - we were too eager not to miss any of “Professor Yoho” (as we named him)’s guidance! The script was funny, interesting, and accessible even to our 8 year old, and the narrator was fantastic. For the most part we didn’t even use GPS, as we found that just following his instructions made for a more spontaneous and surprising trip.

We actually ended up changing our hotels and itinerary to more closely map to the GyPSy route - and we had a blast. Given how expensive everything in the parks is $20 for the bundle is an absolute bargain— we have even discussed aligning our future road trips to be “GyPSy-compatible” with their other offerings. I could not recommend this app more highly.

### 5/5 — Worth every penny!

*2019-08-26*

This was so interesting and informational. My mom and I rented a car and drove up from Calgary to Jasper. This app was like our own private tour guide that we controlled when we got into the car and could personalize based on our daily itinerary. We used the Bluetooth on my iPhone to play on the car speakers. Great way to tour the Canadian Rockies without spending a ton on private tours.

### 5/5 — Worth every penny and more

*2019-08-24*

This app is really informative and we ended up making stops at fantastic places we would have missed if not recommended by the guide. Even our 6yr old while playing iPad was taking in information and then telling family members about it later! It is definitely worth the money.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 3/5 — Needs Major Updating

*2025-08-13*

The narration shared some interesting history, but the presentation used some outdated terminology regarding cultures, which was a bit jarring at times (it was very whitewashed 😬)
It would benefit from incorporating a broader range of perspectives, updating content to reflect recent major events like the Jasper fire, and including more than just the most popular stops along the route. The only sort of “out of the way” stop it included was Beauty Creek, but we’d drive by stops with signage and there was absolutely no mention of it. Compared to ShakaGuide in Hawaii, for example, it was a lot less comprehensive. With some major updates it could be really awesome. As such, we did enjoy it, but it felt pretty dated as well.

### 4/5 — Great Content, Functionality Needs Work

*2019-08-24*

This a great app. I think it’s a must if you are traveling to the Canadian Rockies. The content is very interesting and made our drives from place to place fun. I gave it four out of five stars because it could use some functionality improvements. First, every time you open the app, you have to go through the same start up screens and tutorials, which can get annoying. Second, I wish you could click on the little arrows and see what attractions were coming up. Finally, the app constantly recenters you on the map (which is good) but you don’t have the ability to see what’s coming up on your route. Overall a great app. Worth the price.

### 4/5 — Very good apps

*2019-08-08*

We had Gypsy app for Maui Road to Hana before. It was ok experience. However, we decided to try the app for Banff and jasper national parks. This was much better than the other one. Really enjoy it. We did not give five as the volume was lower. We had to mute the XM radio when the app was silent as the radio was too laud. Our cell phone was set at max. We try to play itune during the silent and unfortunately itune was also too laud. Hopefully, the app can be improved at this aspect. Otherwise,we felt it was very good app for us while driving through those national parks.

### 5/5 — Excellent and informative

*2020-10-09*

Well worth the money! Everyone in the car ages 19-82 found the narrative informative and entertaining. We nicknamed the guide Fred and missed him when we didn’t have him on. Highly recommend this download.

### 5/5 — Canmore to Jasper and back to Calgary

*2020-09-02*

Absolutely loved it! Not a dry way of telling the stories, even had few jokes . Great way to explore the history of the area once you are driving mostly.

### 5/5 — Banff to Jasper

*2020-08-24*

Excellent guide! Well worth the cost, it helped make the most of our drive through Banff and Jasper national parks.

### 5/5 — A personal guide sitting with you through the Rockies

*2020-08-09*

What a great app. Changed our experience in the Rockies completely. So many fun facts and explanations about sites everywhere along the route. 30$ well invested. We learned so much about the Rockies rich history with Gypsy. Loved it.

### 5/5 — Wonderful experience

*2020-08-07*

We downloaded the Canadian Rockies and Kamloops to Banff tours as we explored the Parks on our honeymoon, and were really impressed with the commentary. It really enhanced our visit. Thanks Gypsy Guide! We recommended you folks everywhere we went!

### 5/5 — Best way to travel!

*2020-07-26*

We LOVE Gypsy Guide. It makes the drive so much more interesting and we have discovered many more areas to check out that we would have never known about. Thank you for this! Please keep expanding Gypsy Guide!!!

### 5/5 — Sumply the best!

*2020-07-17*

The next best thing since sliced bread! Yes that’s how amazing this app is! We learned so much - things we never would have known! Loved listening to the history and geological lessons. The commentary was just enough! We had such good discussions and could teach our kids to be curious and ask questions. Amazing- WILL NEVER TRAVEL WITHOUT OUR GYPSY GUIDE AGAIN!

## Most praised reviews (3 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Soul Charging

*2019-11-04*

Game changer. This made an absolutely perfect trip even better. Louie (The name we gave our guide) helped navigate us through national parks from Banff to Jasper. You need this app in your life!!! We even treated up when he said his last goodbyes at the end of our trip!! Thanks Louie!!

### 5/5 — Epic Holiday

*2019-10-19*

Gypsy was recommended by our hotel. It works! We spend nearly 2 weeks travelling between Calgary to Jasper and
back again. We stayed in each place between 2 and 6 days and did day trips from our base. We covered most parts of this magnificent road multiple times so we heard the commentary more than once. It saved all the hassles of maps and trying to find the correct turnoff, the navigator was much happier and it allowed me to concentrate on the road. Highly recommended. My only suggestion to the developers would be to create a highlights list so it’s easier to plan ahead. I’ve bought several gps based travel guides before, this is the only one that was useful. We used it everyday instead of the car gps and the guidebooks stayed in our bags.

### 5/5 — Best money we spent for our holiday

*2019-10-06*

We are an Aussie family of four with two teens aged 17/18. After recommendations on Trip Advisor we purchased the app for Banff, Jasper, Icefields Parkway. Best money spent.

We have loved listening and learning. Brilliant balance of humour, stories, facts, and quiet moments where we can chat about what we’ve heard.

We’ve called him “Tony” so each day it’s “ what’s Tony say about this?”.

Highly, highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed!!
