In the weekly challenge songs, the lyrics are always at least a whole line ahead of the recording, so you’re not actually tracking what you’re hearing. In the regular listening section, there’s constantly words and lines missing. The last one had three whole lines missing, that’s when I gave up on the app. Great idea but needs improvement. ### 5/5 — Music *2026-07-08* Looking forward to it. Very thoughtful ways to engage and learn as you go rather than structured lessons. ### 3/5 — Great idea - needs some work *2026-07-03* I am an avid language learner and love the features of this app – at least what I was able to try out. It pushed me to subscribe for a full year before I had even tried out the app, and promised a discount that would never appear again – this felt like quite a bit of pressure. I found it a bit tricky to navigate, and it kept giving me English songs to translate into English. The voice recognition also didn’t really work - kept thinking I was saying ‘cream’ or ‘time’ instead of the word ‘came’. I think this app is an absolutely brilliant idea and a novel approach to learning languages - I just think it needs a bit more work before I would re-download. **Developer response:** Thank you so much for your feedback! Often people learn how to speak languages with watching tv and listening to music. This is a great way to learn languages close to how it’s actually spoken. I initially thought it would be simply songs with translations, but the app offers so much more like quizzes, karaoke, grammar points and vocabulary linked to the song picked. There is an impressively large music catalog so each of us according to our level will find a song that we like! The whole experience is fun, engaging, and motivating. In just a few minutes a day, you can naturally learn a lot without feeling like you are studying in a traditional way. It’s a great alternative for people who do not really classic learning methods like in school…Personally, I use it to refresh my Spanish, and I find the concept effective and enjoyable. It took me way too many screens to get through, including one screen I couldn’t get past where I had to say I give this app 5 stars. Finally got to the page with prices— no sample to experience, no way to check it out without paying. Frustrating. **Developer response:** The review screen getting stuck was actually a bug, and we’ve fixed it in the latest update. Also, you can absolutely exit the pricing page without paying and use the free version, or start a trial. We clearly need to make this more obvious, so thanks for pointing it out 🙏 ### 5/5 — Engaging, Thoughtful, and Really Impressive So Far *2026-05-09* I’m still pretty new to Canary and figuring out all the features, but so far I’m really impressed. One of my students recommended it to me, and I absolutely love the concept behind it. It feels much more engaging and practical than a lot of traditional language learning apps, and you can tell a lot of thought went into the experience. Excited to keep exploring and learning with it! ### 5/5 — Bridging the Gap Between Duolingo & Preply *2026-05-08* I really like the interface of the app, it’s super user-friendly, easy to navigate, and genuinely fun for a language learning app. It kind of bridges the gap between Duolingo and Preply by not feeling too childlike or too pushy for introverts like myself who may not want constant conversations with people. I also love that it’s self-paced and lets you learn through the lyrics of songs you actually like. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Non of the video plays!!! *2026-08-22* All songs showing error 150 and non is working !!! ### 1/5 — Overloaded *2026-08-15* I can‘t say that I have ever seen an app experience that was so overloaded with requests for notifications, tracking, location services and pay-to-use currencies. Everything requires either in-app currency or direct payment. ### 1/5 — BAD *2026-08-03* 1% of the song (the bad and unknown one) are free, for alll th other you have to pay ≈60€…. Lost of time ### 1/5 — Unable to create account *2026-07-02* Maybe this app would work on a bigger phone. But on my iPhone 15Pro, I can’t scroll down to actually create an account after I enter my name, email, and password. The developer fixed that problem promptly. I haven’t paid yet, but I have been enjoying the free daily songs since July. It’s a fun concept for people who like both music and language learning, and it makes practicing feel a little less like studying. I especially like the Fly game and the way the app lets you interact with songs instead of just listening passively. I’d definitely be interested in seeing more songs, artists, languages, and games added over time.
