The principal objective of canasta is to form melds - combinations of three or more cards of the same rank - with or without the help of wild cards. (Sequences are not valid melds.

Canasta is a card game of the rummy family of games, believed to be a variant of 500 Rummy. Although many variations exist for two, three, five, or six players, it is most commonly played by four in two partnerships with two standard decks of cards. Players attempt to make melds of seven cards of the same rank and "go out" by playing all cards in their hands.

Canasta uses two complete decks of 52 playing cards (French Deck) plus the four Jokers. All the Jokers and Twos are wild cards.

The initial dealer in Canasta is chosen by any common method, although it should be remembered that there is no privilege or advantage to being the dealer. The dealer shuffles the pack, the player to the dealer's right cuts, and the dealer deals out 2 hands of 11 cards to each player. The remaining cards are left in a stack in the centre of the table.

The player to the dealer's left has the first turn, and the play then proceeds clockwise. A turn begins either by drawing the first card from the stock into the player's hand or by picking up the entire discard pile. If the card drawn from the stock is a red three, the player must play it immediately and draw another card.

A player "goes out" when no cards are left after a meld or discard. A player is not permitted to go out, however, unless there's at least one canasta.

In the game of canasta, a meld comprising seven or more cards, including at least four natural cards (called a "base"), is a canasta. The team that first reaches a total of 5,000 wins a game.

Along with all the other bugs others have mentioned, if you are playing offline when you win a game you are not rewarded any coin. It sure did take all my coins from betting though. 🙄🙄 just annoying

Edit: now I can’t even play because the ads won’t close. So incredibly frustrating.

I thought it was a good app, but after playing the last three times. I’ve noticed that you can’t meld the cards in my hand. I needed 120 points I laid down 3 A’s, and was going to lay 2 J’s with a wild card (2 -20 pts.) then I was had 4 (7’s - 20pts.) for a total of 120. But after laying the 3 A’s down it wouldn’t let me lay anything else down. This is not like the real card game!

I get disconnected at least twice a day playing Canasta. I always bet 500 and when i am close to winning the round, it kicks me off. It would be nice to get my credits back!!

Soooooo frustrating . When you have the correct cards they get blocked …while holding in your own hands the right amount of cards to put down …it glitches and won’t let you ….this is a HUGE HUGE glitch and needs to be fixed . Please stop blocking the cards!!!! So many games are frozen and you cannot finish the game the whole game freezes for 4 people …stop blocking cards .. ugh! 

Also stop putting messages directly over the cards …it makes it frustrating you cannot move your cards with it written right over the cards …

Other than that I love this game but this is frustrating and ends games for everyone …terrible

I love this game and it is really hard to find someone that knows how to play this game. I learned to play canasta when I was a young girl but playing with my grandparents. I love to play, but I can’t find anyone to play nor can I find anyone who knows how to play. The one thing about this game is that whether you’re playing online with other players or off-line it seems that you’re playing with bots, and it never allows you to play the way you want to play whether you have enough points to play or not these glitches need to be fixed Period! I have a brain and I have strategies that I would like to use. I don’t need a computerized game, telling me how to play or deciding what card. This game is great otherwise, just very aggravating because of this and it does cost you to lose the game and a lot of points so otherwise I’m waiting for you to fix this so I don’t have to stop playing my game.
