### 4/5 — Unique and fun word game!

*2026-05-23, version 1.0.19*

This game went away for a while, but it’s back and I’m glad because I love playing, although I believe there are people on there that cheat and look up words online to make. There are far too many hard words used by a couple of people I play against, to the point where I say, there’s no way one person knows all these random long words that I’ve never heard of. And I know a lot of words.

Anyway, I enjoy playing with the honest people who aren’t cheaters. I do, however, wish some of the things from the first version were on this second one. I miss being able to send brief, prewritten words and comments. It was fun. Also having the stats against other players was cool, too.

I wish you had kept the original version and just built a little on it, that’s all I’m saying.

### 4/5 — No pass and play

*2026-03-10, version 1.0.7*

Capitals used to have a pass and play on one device option, but it’s gone now, which means y ok u can’t even play with a friend without literally texting them a link

### 4/5 — Some Wishes

*2026-01-20, version 1.0.5*

I love this game. I highly recommend it. Some wishes I have; more reliable dictionary (it often errors out), the ability to play one game with a robot opponent (for when other humans aren't available to play and you don't want to keep adding more games), and more information on each opponent in the stats (I'd love to see the shortest game per round, the longest, and the average rounds for each opponent). My shortest is around 3 rounds and my longest is over 200, which I find more interesting than only win or lose. Also, as with another reviewer, my game is incessantly having pop-ups telling me about the games I've lost and to long press in order to delete a word; I've been having to click out of them an annoying amount of times the whole time I've played this game. It would be nice to get rid of both of those pop-up issues. Thanks for such a fun game!

### 4/5 — Annoying pop ups

*2025-09-12, version 1.0.5*

These keep popping up unnecessarily when it’s your turn to play. GET IT STOPPED.

### 4/5 — Really fun but also buggy

*2025-05-18, version 1.0.5*

I really enjoy playing this game with friends to pass the time. Recently, I’ve been having an issue with the game not finding the game ID when I want to play a random opponent and I cannot find any answers on how to fix that. Assuming it’s a bug in the game that hasn’t been addressed yet. Other than that, I like the game

### 4/5 — Computer plz

*2025-04-23*

Needs a computer mode so I don’t have to wait for humans to play back 🥲

### 5/5 — Clever

*2024-09-18, version 1.0.5*

Perhaps the cleverest word game I have encountered

### 5/5 — Super fun! especially for word lovers 🤓

*2024-08-07, version 1.0.5*

Game is super well designed and very addicting - I play almost every day. There used to be not many people on, but this has changed! I am actively playing around 10 people who are good about responding.

### 4/5 — Fun Game - Minor Issues

*2024-07-16, version 1.0.5*

This is a fun multiplayer word game that is more like turn based boggle than scrabble or words with friends. To enjoy it, you will need to recruit a friend to play with you because matches don’t have a turn timer and there are not many users, so random matches take too long. The only real complaint I have is that the UI can set you up to fail. Before you have started to create a word, the two buttons on screen are a button to replay a visual showing the other player’s move (on the right) and a back arrow to return to the menu (on the left). Once you begin to play a word, the button on the left turns into the submit button, and the button on the right turns into a backspace button. I believe they should be flipped since it is easy to want to go back to another game and think about the word in your current game later, only to submit a word which sets you up to lose or worsen your position significantly.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — The stats menu doesn’t work

*2025-03-06, version 1.0.5*

The stats menu doesn’t display any stats and is empty even after playing many games.

### 2/5 — It's ok

*2026-02-25, version 1.0.6*

I miss the OG Caps. Where's the sound on this game? This one doesn't have the pass'n play which is a bummer! And the OG Caps had better icon design. I would also like to suggest possible design themes...NEON!

Thank you for taking the time to check out my review!

### 2/5 — Review

*2024-07-14, version 1.0.5*

Got to make the battles real time

### 3/5 — Annoying

*2026-06-02, version 1.0.19*

I like the game. I’m annoyed that it prompts me to review it every time. Giving it five stars is insufficient. I had to type this to make it stop so it loses a star for every minute of my life lost typing this. Yes. I type slowly.

### 3/5 — Same phone multiplayer?

*2026-04-14, version 1.0.12*

Why did they get rid of same phone multiplayer??? It used to be so fun. But now it’s gone?

### 3/5 — Not bad. Problems abound.

*2026-01-07, version 1.0.5*

I began playing this game and found it was quite fun. Occasionally it will leave me with no way to start the game as I have no vowels, or on occasion no consonants. And with no way to PASS my turn or try to trade a couple tiles I’m left unable to proceed. Seems to be a case of little effort in development and no attempt to correct it?

### 3/5 — Promising

*2025-07-27, version 1.0.5*

As a former enthusiast, I’m delighted to see Capitals back again. It looks like the game mechanics are basically the same as ever, but a few of the old features are missing.

It would be nice to have the ability to block certain players; I’ve already encountered one idiot who is trying to impersonate others.

### 3/5 — Needs some fixes but super fun

*2025-03-06, version 1.0.5*

There’s some bugginess but overall I love this game. It’s notifies me endlessly about games I lost a while ago and I have to click out of the message again and again. Also reminds you to long press to delete a word which should have a “don’t show this message again” option. Otherwise love its simplicity and no ads!!

### 3/5 — It's ok

*2025-02-17*

I miss the OG Caps. Where's the sound on this game? This one doesn't have the pass'n play which is a bummer! And the OG Caps had better icon design. I would also like to suggest possible design themes...NEON!

Thank you for taking the time to check out my review!

### 3/5 — What happened to local play?

*2024-07-29, version 1.0.5*

I used to play this game back in the day before it disappeared, it used to have local play which was really fun I wish it was still around

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great game!

*2026-06-19, version 1.0.20*

This might be the only phone game I still play. It’s fun, challenging, and satisfying. The ads are extremely unobtrusive (they aren’t even on the game board itself) and there’s no videos you have to watch. My main gripe is that it’s clear some players are cheating, but that’s not nimblebit’s fault. My secondary gripe is that the App Store message to rate the app won’t go away, I see it multiple times a day even though I have rated the game. Maybe this review will finally put a nail in that coffin???

### 5/5 — Challenging, fun!

*2026-05-22, version 1.0.19*

A simple concept that is surprisingly complex. Also really fun to play with friends. I’ve been obsessed for weeks now!

### 5/5 — New Game

*2026-05-20, version 1.0.19*

This is my favorite game but I enjoyed playing the original better.’

### 5/5 — LongTimePlayer

*2026-05-09, version 1.0.18*

Hopelessly addicted to this game forever

### 5/5 — A great word game!

*2025-12-22, version 1.0.5*

Capitals is a great game for anagram lovers. Combines anagram finding skill with tactical decisions about capturing territory on a board game.
This game initially faded into obscurity when the dev apparently couldn’t find a monetization mechanic that didn’t put off users. The game is now completely free without 3rd party ads, with only a small non-intrusive menu option informing you of the developers other games.

### 5/5 — Needs singleplayer mode

*2025-09-27, version 1.0.5*

This is an awesome game, but it could really do with a singleplayer/vs. bot mode bc people are never on lol

### 5/5 — Unique and fun word game!

*2025-06-16*

This game went away for a while, but it’s back and I’m glad!

I do wish some of the things from the first version were on this second one. I miss being able to send brief, prewritten words and comments. Also the stats against other players.

### 5/5 — Rad

*2025-06-13, version 1.0.5*

Still a good game. I remember playing it about 10 years ago. A feature I miss is the local play, being able to have a round at a restaurant with a friend or family member was good times.

### 5/5 — Such an underrated game

*2024-11-09, version 1.0.5*

I play word games all the time on my phone and this has the potential to be one of the best, the game itself is super strategic, and very competitive. The concept is simple and brilliant, this could be huge. However, it’s let down slightly by a poor UI, interface and notification system all of which feels a bit under cooked. If some investment could be put into a V2, with a graphics and animation overhaul, a Ui redesign and some special rules around tough characters like ‘QX’s’ and maybe a 4 player mode, this would be once of the all time great word games.

### 5/5 — My FAVORITE Game

*2024-10-06, version 1.0.5*

I've had this game for almost a decade. It's definitely my favorite two-player word game. I was so sad for a while when it was no longer available on the App Store, but now it's back!! And I'll definitely be recommending it to all my friends.
