I lost all of my data when my phone crashed a year ago and the Genius Bar had to force a restore of iOS. After spending about 15 minutes trying to get the app to actually save my VIN and a photo of my vehicle, I’m considering switching to another app that is actively updating at least annually. Three years is a long time to let something sit and pray that it will still work and not lose my data again. ### 4/5 — CarCare *2025-10-24, version 1.67* I’ve been using this app for years and as of yet, have not found a better app for tracking service, repairs and gasoline purchases. Otherwise it’s a fantastic app which is why I rate it four stars. If 4 are showing as due, I can only find 3 in red in the app. I always rotate my tires with oil changes and I add a PTFE engine additive during oil changes as well. On every other oil change, I also have the tires balanced (in addition to rotating them). The obvious service reminders show, but one is always invisible. Why is that and where is it and how do I fix it? If you are correcting a date that is out of alignment, you have to go back a day, and then back another 3 hours or so to get the correct date. I think the system is taking into account the time difference. I had to change 30 items to correct all the data for one year. I don't plan on changing cars for a while, but I'm afraid I'll be deflated the next time this happens. Please revamp the import system. Just downloaded the latest update, but no change. ### 4/5 — Additional features suggetion *2020-07-06, version 1.62* In my opinion, there should be additional buttons for different gasoline grade not just premium or regular gas (didn't know if it has diesel options), also it could be nice if you can take pictures of the gas / maintenance receipt, photos of damage and print them. This was accurate until my link disappeared today on my new iPhone 12. When I touch the app it takes me to a page with thank you for your purchase and at the top “edit” not active and an active button to “add” a car. 😢 ### 1/5 — Can’t Import Data to New Phone *2021-03-12, version 1.66* I replaced an aging iPhone 4s with an iPhone 12 this week. Since I couldn’t import the apps and data directly into the iPhone 12, I used the Car Care export feature to save the data on a car to a tab delimited text file. I had to pay for a new version of Car Car for the new phone, but was happy to do this since my wife and I have been using the app for all of our cars. Unfortunately, the web-based import feature is broken and I can’t import the data collected since the car was new. I can upload the formatted data into the KarlBecker utility with no problems. When I submit the form so I can receive an ID number and password so I can import the data into the phone, I see a mostly black screen with no information. While I have been happy with Car Care for many years, the inability to restore historical information after replacing a phone is a huge deal breaker. ### 1/5 — Don’t buy *2021-02-10, version 1.66* Garbage. Older entries disappear upon editing, and attempting to re-enter them causes the app to crash randomly. I’ve been trying for fifteen minutes to correct and re-enter four simple gas fill-ups from my previous entries and this Car Care app has fought me every step of the way. It’s an absolute nightmare that I’m deleting from my phone immediately - not worth the headache. All of its features still work for the most part despite no updates for years. I’ll be very sad if it’s allowed to die. Export your data folks just in case. One idea I also had is to add cost breakdowns for services like they have for fuel. UPDATE: I'll add my voice to the long list of people complaining about the location services always being on. Please update this to fix that problem. And dump the pit stop feature. It is useless. I don't even open the app until AFTER I have filled up. UPDATE: 11-15-16 Thanks for the update. Now works without the warning in iOS 10. I still love this app. 7-15-25 You need some way to edit the vehicle name. I just got a Ford Transit. The only choice in your list is a transit connect. That is a completely different vehicle. Installing it on a new phone today prompted me to make this review. I love this app, it’s pretty simple and it keeps track of my mileage and gas purchases. The developer has made migrating the data to new devices (or even archiving it) pretty painless. I honestly don’t know what additional features I would add (maybe automatically backing up the data to dropbox, but I’m reaching). It just does what it does very well. Great reminders and easily customizable for your preferences. Awesome support too. Had a minor issue exporting / emailing the data and the issue was answered promptly. One minor improvement I would recommend is a modification to the notes field. It’s a bit difficult to work with and sometimes the entire note is not viewable on the entry. But a very useful app. I’ll be selling my car soon and can give the buyer a complete report (through the export function) of the maintenance and gas!
