It’s also a very laggy app Issues load and then when you go to read them the individual pages have to reload. Luckily content is great ### 2/5 — Spectacularly awful app *2025-04-06* The login process is ridiculously onerous: credentials are lost each time I login; requesting to reset my password results in the necessary email not being sent; forcing the user to share login credentials is against GDPR and is therefore illegal. Older magazines from when Car truly was great are not included in the archive, Using your review criteria from the back of the magazine - the app is ‘ugly’. Unfortunately the App is slow and clunky at best and at worst answer it is now, I am currently logged out ? Tried logging back on, but it doesn’t recognise my e Mail? Despite that it has taken £34.99 from me over the past few years?…. I have now and reluctantly cancelled my subscription. ### 4/5 — Some problems *2024-05-23* I can access the magazines via the app but not by clicking on an article in an email & logging on - strange. When viewing the magazine in digital format, most times swiping from 1 photo to the next brings up the next page/article instead - frustrating. ### 3/5 — Problem with App *2023-08-10, version 9.27* Great magazine that I’ve subscribed to for over 30 years, however the latest update on the App now means I cannot use it on my IPad Mini 2 as the IOS is not compatible. Used to take about 3 minutes to download an issue, now about 20 minutes. Yet to be able to open an issue. Update December 2022. They’ve solved the download issue as now absolutely nothing works. White screen with loading on it, nothing happens. I emailed to ask you to look into it and had no reply. I emailed again on Friday requesting an update. It’s now Monday and nothing. I still have no access and now cannot even get to the login screen. I have been using the app for several years now and have never had any problems before. I can open it and scroll through the menu, if I select an article to read I just get the loading circle. I’ve cancelled my subscription as it’s pointless. Really disappointing and poor digital experience from what is a great magazine. ### 3/5 — Great when it works *2022-09-21* As someone who sporadically goes back to my electronic articles as I do my print versions of Car, I can only say it has great articles , photos and videos. I regularly have problems with my e-purchases , sometimes not showing, needing repeated restores and today, some of them, showing poorly. As I say, when it works, great. I still have my print NSX, Ferrari 348, Porsche 911 Lotus Esprit V8 comparison from when the first NSX was first reviewed. I doubt whether I will be able to easily access e-issues of Car in 20 years. Kind regards ### 1/5 — Poorly thought out app with jerky scrolling *2022-09-19, version 9.26* The whole app doesn’t feel well designed, and the scrolling in particular is really jerky on iOS, which is headache inducing and makes the app unusable. The new app, though, is not. Very slow to download new issues, and the only subscription app I have that won't auto-download in the background. Worst of all, it has to reload the app and “dynamic resources” every time you come back to the app. If you leave for two minutes or check another app, CAR makes you start over. UPDATE Frequently the app decides the newest issue is from 2022, even though I was reading Feb 2024 last night and it was already downloaded. I recently upgraded to the digital subscription, but on a mobile phone, I have never come across such a terrible user experience. Constantly being asked to log-in to read articles and being re-routed to a website. Really Car? This experience takes away from the good work the magazine does. As soon as I want to use it, it just doesn’t work. The 5* review is for the content. The digital experience is just good enough not to betray the overall brand. After more than 4 months nobody responds to emails about the issues one encounters. A disgrace now, it used be good before. But no thank you, simply does not work. ### 5/5 — For many years Best motoring magazine *2023-03-18, version 9.26* I havei have been reading Car since the 1970’s and it has the best journalism and photography in my opinionI read the paper edition of Car for many years. The iPad editio adds I have read Car on and off since 1975 and it is still the best.extra interactivity and is so convenient. It is the best motoring magazine by a long way. The new app looks good, but the archive only seems to go back to 2020 whereas before it was 2012 onwards.
