Your car is making a noise you cannot spell out. So stop trying. Hold the phone up and let Car Whisperer listen to it. A light came on and you do not know what it means. Point the camera at it and ask. No adapter, no cable, no scanner. Just the microphone and the camera you already carry. HOW IT WORKS 1. Add your car by brand, model and year. Later you can scan the VIN with the camera to fill in the rest. 2. Show the problem. Record the noise, film it from the passenger seat if it only happens while the car is moving, photograph the part or the symbol that just lit up, or type it in your own words, even if all you can say is that it smells hot and pulls to the right. All four can go into one diagnosis. 3. Read the assessment in plain language: one sentence naming the likely cause, then the repair steps. 4. Work through those steps and tick off what you have done. Your progress is still there tomorrow, and you can keep asking. AND THEN THE PART OF IT THAT COSTS MONEY Ask what a part should cost before anyone quotes you a price. Offers are checked against your year, make and model before they are shown to you, where eBay has fitment data. Elsewhere you get a price range. Photograph a written estimate and see which parts on it can be priced, next to what they sell for. Each is marked below, within or above the trade range, with that range beside it, and the card says how many lines it could compare. When two independent lookups disagree about a part, the app says nothing about that line rather than guess. Figures, not a judgment of your workshop. Find repair shops near you, sorted by distance, in the conversation. Check US safety recall records for your make, model and year. THE HARDEST PART IS EXPLAINING IT TO SOMEONE ELSE So the app writes it up as a PDF, in two versions, and you pick which one leaves. For the shop: the vehicle, the fault, and what has already been tried. Nothing about the prices you looked up. For yourself: the full record, including the conversation. Twelve languages, picked at the moment you export, because the mechanic may not read yours. Headings and labels are translated, the assessment stays in the language it was written in, and the app says so before you send it. The app speaks those twelve too, Arabic included, laid out right to left. BETTER THAT YOU KNOW BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD Car Whisperer does not plug into your car. Nothing is read out of the engine computer, no live vehicle data, no warning light cleared. Safety recall records come from the US NHTSA database and describe vehicles sold in the United States. Confirmed offers for a specific part exist only in the United States, Canada and Australia. An estimate check compares parts, and only parts. Labor, taxes and materials are not compared, because we have no source for those. Workshops add to the part price for their own reasons: sourcing, warranty, liability. The list holds 393 brands and 3,920 models, and your car has to be on it. Up to three cars fit in the garage, with no sign-up and no password. Brakes, steering, airbags and fuel are safety systems. It had been describing Car Whisperer as it was a year ago. It now says what the app does, and just as plainly what it does not. Car Whisperer works from what you can see, hear, film and describe. It does not plug into your car and there is no adapter. If the store page is where you last looked, these have been in the app for a while and were never mentioned there: Record a noise or film a short video and put it in the same diagnosis as your photos and your description. When your diagnosis points at a replacement part, one tap shows you the range it typically sells for. You know the figure before the quote arrives. ### 1.4.1 — 2026-08-13 Video diagnosis: film the problem instead of describing it. Picture and sound are read together. US safety recalls. If one applies, the dealer often repairs it free. Type or scan your VIN, and missing vehicle details fill themselves in. Plus pickup as a body type, better photo privacy, and several fixes. ### 1.4.0 — 2026-08-11 Find a workshop without leaving the chat. When a fault needs a professional, Car Whisperer now says so and offers to find one nearby. You get a map, the distance, the rating and whether they are open right now, plus one tap to call or navigate. Pick a workshop and the assistant turns your diagnosis into what to actually say at the counter: the symptoms that matter, what you already tried, and what to ask before work starts. Tap a workshop's name for photos, reviews and opening hours. No location? Type a town or postcode instead. The search works either way.
