Now it crashes immediately on open. Will delete my review once fixed. Otherwise I’m out $40 I spent on this thermometer. ### 1/5 — Lavatools Love... *2017-11-24* I love my Lavatools instant read thermometers. Always accurate and incredibly fast! However, as much as I would love to love the Carbon Pro, it's not quite there yet. Perhaps I may have a defective one as it has a heck of a time to sync up and looses connection often. I'll update the review next week after further attempts! Ok... So here I am a year later and still having problems. Thanksgiving and decided to give it another try. No such luck and same problems. I love lavatools but this one is a bust. Complete waste of money and time! I want to love this product but I can’t due to reliability and consistency issues. Makes the hardware useless. ### 1/5 — Pairing problems *2020-05-14* Bluetooth pairing problems persist ### 1/5 — App does not work on my 6th Gen iPad! *2019-10-19* No matter what I do, update the iOS software, reinstall the app or repeatedly open it, it never makes it past the loading screen before it crashes. And to exacerbate things, the App Store link for “app support” doesn’t even take me anywhere useful, just to the Lavatools website! ### 1/5 — Doesn’t crash, but sure doesn’t load *2018-12-05* I’m on iOS 12 on iPhone XS Max and it was working on iOS 12 a few weeks back. Things are working well again. When I first used the app it worked great! Now a few months and an IOS update later it sometimes loads. If it loads fully it will sometimes not crash during cooking. I love the UI and the actual equipment is sturdy. Pleas fix whatever bugs are in the software. Thank You ### 4/5 — On the Money but....... *2020-11-26* Everything works great. The temp is right on as I have verified with other probes multiple time. But.........you need a temp/graph option for smoking meat. The option should be for a set your own temp from 180 to 205. Then you get 5 stars. ### 4/5 — Nice clean app *2018-02-04* I used to use the Oregon Scientific app and thermometer and liked that, but this is way better. Easier to pair with the thermometer and simpler to select what you are cooking. If it worked with Apple Watch then it would get the full 5 stars. ### 3/5 — iPhone Sizes *2018-12-25* App works fine but seems like an after thought with the fantastic hardware. Still hasn’t been updated for new iPhone resolutions yet (using an XS Max). Dev, please consider adding features like URL schemes, Shortcuts support, and widgets as well. You would blow away Thermoworks products with features like that. ### 2/5 — Cannot Access App unless connected?? *2017-12-09* This app and thermometer actually works really well, I love how it can wirelessly connect to your phone. By far my favorite feature is the graphing feature! However, there is a major oversight with the app I really hope is fixed if they read my review! The app can ONLY be accessed once connected to the thermometer, what if I want to get in the app and export my data, do I really have to go connect to my thermometer just to look inside the app? Seriously? What a pain. What if I’m trying to compare recipes and cook times? PLEASE fix this developers! Major issues that takes my review down from 5 stars!! ### 2/5 — Poor documentation and instructions *2016-12-11* The "manual" is pathetic. What does "steady temperature" mean? Do I need low, normal, or high? Why does the default setting for lamb keep going back to medium even though I've set it to mid-rare? And the ambient temp seems to read low, too.
