## What is CarcBot?

Generate beautiful, edge-matched tile maps in seconds — inspired by the classic tile-laying boardgame. Build 3×3 sketches or sprawling 30×30 landscapes, then export them as high-resolution PNGs up to 8000 pixels. Wrap the same matching rules around cubes, rhombicuboctahedrons, and subdivided globes for foldable nets and smooth rotation videos. Drop into an infinite-scroll canvas, or switch to the manual editor to place tiles by hand with compatibility filtering and edge-mismatch highlighting. Decorate finished maps as a 3D tabletop with meeples in eight colours, your own imported models, and realistic shadows. Import .carcpack tile bundles or build your own on device. No ads, no tracking, no accounts, everything runs on your iPhone or iPad.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6 — 2026-06-17

CarcBot makes building easier and goes a lot bigger. The generator is now organised into clear output families — Maps, Solids, Fun, Animations, and Tools — so you only ever see the options that matter for what you're making, and a new Filter panel lets you switch individual edge types on or off at a tap. The new Mega Map builds enormous maps, up to 144 tiles per edge, that you can pan, zoom, and explore before exporting. The whole app also picks up a cleaner, brighter look with a single accent colour and quick confirmations when you save or export. Rounding things out are several fixes for smoother, more reliable map generation.

### 1.5.1 — 2026-06-15

Minor release to add a new Village edge type. Villages match roads, fields, and other villages — a road can run up to a village and stop there, while fields flow past freely. Tag edges as villages in the tile editor to build village-themed maps. Additional vibrant/muted option for field normalisation.

### 1.5 — 2026-06-14

New in this version

Step Pyramid — a new build: edge-matched tile cubes stacked into a flat, isometric staircase, with meeples on the steps and the CarcBot mascot
  on top.

Colour Normalisation — even out the artwork across tiles from different editions and fan sets. Unify the green of fields and the brown of city
ground, live as the map draws — roads, roofs, walls, trees and rivers untouched, your source tiles never changed. Switch each on in
  Configuration → Appearance.

Support for new terrain: coastlines and water, forests, bridges, and mountains

A more powerful tile editor — edit split (two-terrain) edges, edge connectivity, central features and tile source.

Plus faster, more reliable map generation, a seamless Wrap Edges option, and a before/after view in the tile inspector.

### 1.4 — 2026-06-06

This release adds two new ways to explore your tiles. Maze Walk drops you inside a maze: the camera drives itself, first-person, through the corridors of an endless 3D labyrinth — adjust the speed, meet the occasional meeple, animal, or imported figure waiting in the dark, and export a clip of the journey to your photo library. Mandala gains a Kaleidoscope style — full 8-fold symmetry that folds each tile along its diagonal, so any tile can sit on the mirror lines and the whole map looks like a true kaleidoscope.

### 1.3 — 2026-06-04

This release adds a wave of new ways to shape your maps. Pattern Maps constrain a generated map to a geometric form — wind a single road inward as a Spiral, fill the grid as a solvable Maze, or build a symmetric Mandala in either a Mirror or a 4-fold Rotational style. Two new 3D surfaces join Cube, RCO, and Globe: Torus Mode wraps a seamless tiling around a ring, and Möbius Mode tiles a one-sided strip whose roads and cities flow continuously across the half-twist. Dice Mode generates a scattered set of edge-matched dice you can drop onto a real surface with View in AR. Under the hood, tiles now carry edge-connectivity and central-feature data so roads route correctly through junctions, and the Möbius strip’s rim renders cleanly. Every mode still includes interactive 3D previews and rotation-video exports.
