I do wish they’d add a few more options in sorting and storing the info, though, and bring back facial recognition. Keep making positive improvements and I’ll be able to increase my rating. ### 3/5 — Great app but needs improvement *2021-03-25, version 3.4.7* I love having an inventory of all my cards in one app. It seems secure, I’ve never had a problem with that. But, the scanning operation simply does not work. And, there’s not an option to just take a picture of the card. Now there is faceid crash and dark mode text visibility issue are left to be fixed. Faceid would be the most critical. Developper still not respond to any contact and app support links are broken. Lets hope fixes comes at once. ### 2/5 — Crashes - Can’t use the app anymore *2020-12-25, version 3.4.5* I’ve been using this app for a year or so now, and I really liked it... until recently. As of a couple months ago, the app has been crashing anytime I try to click on one of my saved cards to view the information about it. I can’t access any of my info anymore, and therefore this app is useless to me now. The two stars are because I enjoyed the app before it stopped working. ### 3/5 — Loved it until recent update *2020-12-13, version 3.4.5* I have been using this app for years! I love it. However, since the most recent update (first in over 2 years), it no longer works on my iPad. When I try to open a card, the app crashes. You made to be compatible with ios14, but my iPad can only update to ios12. Bummer! If you fix it, I’lld change my star level to 5. I’d hate to have to find another app to replace this one. ### 3/5 — Decent *2019-08-06, version 3.4.3* I gave this app 3 stars because I bought the pro version. However, if you use the Visa card option to add a card it doesn’t recognize the newer cards (where the card number and expiration are located on the back of the card) causing the app to be unable to take the picture to save the front and back of the card. ### 2/5 — Not a good app and they charge me every year *2019-03-14, version 3.4.3* I paid for this over a year ago and used it foe a while. worked fine. Then all of a sudden they upgraded their app and when i refuse to download the new one and pay again. My version start to crash down and when i finally give up and paid the money it earased all of my record and forced me to start as a new customer. Very inconvenience. ### 3/5 — New Credit Card Format *2019-01-20, version 3.4.3* This app does not seem to work with the new credit cards that are being supplied by banking institutions. These new cards do not have the card number on the front of the card. The card number is smaller and on the back side of the card and this app is unaware and will not scan. ### 4/5 — Doesn’t scan atypical credit cards *2018-12-27, version 3.4.3* Some credit cards have an atypical front face. The automatic scan doesn’t work on them, and there is no option for manual capture of the front face. I have to use another cards front to make things work. This needs to be fixed, otherwise great app. ### 2/5 — Potentially Great *2017-02-24, version 3.4.2* So many great things about this app. But for me, it is offset by one thing. Card data can only be synced with the Apple Cloud. This means I can't share card data that both my wife and I share ... like store cards, insurance info, etc. This is because my wife can sync only to her iCloud and I can sync only to mine. The two clouds can't mingle. SOLUTION: CardMate should also sync to DropBox and other cloud storage that we can both access. Without this ability, I had to load all our cards twice ... once for me and the second for my wife. This is the biggest flaw to this app. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Unsupported app *2022-12-09, version 3.4.7* I have emailed developers twice now that app crashes when trying to view card. No replies. Went to their website. Their website is no more. They made a great app. Got people to pay for it and abandoned the app totally. Updated: Would always crash when app was opened due to the Touch ID was ON. Touch ID is not on anymore iPhones. I had mine ON and it made app crash constantly. I deleted app knowing I had it backed up to cloud. Reinstalled app. Set password and left Touch ID OFF. So far app works right now. I have not dug to far into app but it opens now and I can see all my cards. Hope this helps to those that paid for the app and now the app support is no longer. ### 1/5 — No Support *2022-01-25, version 3.4.7* I have used this app for many years and it has worked well. Recently I try to add a facial recognition password. I’m using an iPhone 11 and it only has facial recognition it does not have a fingerprint ID. The app would only allow a fingerprint ID so I thought that would automatically work as a facial recognition. Once I did that the app no longer works. Touching the icon opens the app and immediately it shuts down. All my data is lost. There is no way to contact the developer and the website is not functional. I suggest you do not buy this app or use it. ### 1/5 — Stopped working. *2021-02-13, version 3.4.6* This was a great app. I purchased it, and I do not purchase many apps. I used it for years... no updates, but if it ain’t broke, right? Then a couple months ago it stopped working. When I pick a card to display it takes me to my Home Screen. I looked and it was automatically upgraded a couple weeks earlier. Checked on my iPad which was not upgraded, works fine. No problem, just contact the author. Nope. No longer valid email address. Website is no longer working. Apple support was totally useless. If you are the author/publisher please fix this. Otherwise my money is wasted. Please? ### 1/5 — Crashes when opening a card detail. *2021-02-06, version 3.4.6* This app originally worked fine. It now crashes and closes the app whenever you tap on the card so you can look at the image of the back of the card or to look at any comments or notes. There is no way to report the problem. I even tried to leave a message on their Facebook page but never had a response. ### 1/5 — What happened? *2020-12-27, version 3.4.5* This was my favorite way to organize my credit cards and not have to grab my wallet every time I bought something online -and the pro feature allowed my info to download when I got a new phone- it was great! ... until the last 2 months. It freezes and shuts down every single time. I’ve deleted and reinstalled twice and no change. The pro version was wonderful, I don’t know what changed recently but I’ve had to find another solution. ### 1/5 — PAY ATTENTION to the bad reviews, they are not lying! *2018-09-19, version 3.4.3* The app will ONLY scan credit cards for the credit card section, you do not have the option to take the photo on those. The problem is, it wont scan more often than it does. And the scans are not clear like the photo cards. My new PayPal card has the number on the back not the front. So the app will not scan it at al because it doesn’t recognize it as a credit card. You can put the credit cards in the normal gift card area, but lose the functionality of the app you paid for. NOT happy and requesting refund. ### 1/5 — SO DISSAPOINTING! Does not work. *2016-10-09, version 3.4.2* I spent WAY too much time reading reviews and researching all of these credit card/wallet apps. And when I finally settled on this one, paid and downloaded, it doesn't work! It would not scan the card, and would also NOT let me take a picture of the front of the card. I was able to take a picture of the back of the card and crop it. But then after entering all of the information for the card, the app would not save the card or info. The master password options are a joke—really, you only have a choice of the letters A, B, C, and the numbers 1–9? And it is only a FOUR character password? Seems really secure...NOT! Which I guess doesn't really matter since I can't actually enter any of my cards or private information anyway. I simply want something to store the info and photos of all of my credit cards, licenses, passports, social security numbers, et cetra. Something intuitive, nicely desiged, secure and affordable. Why is that so difficult to find? I was just going to request a refund and forget about it, but iTunes hasn't finished processing the transaction apparently. So since I can't spend my time going through the refund process right now, I get to write this lovely review instead. Thanks for wasting my time Card Mate Pro. ### 2/5 — Can’t add credit card *2021-06-01, version 3.4.7* Taking a picture of the front of the card, the only option is to auto-scan it. Even though I can position the camera to get four green bars around the card image, a picture is not taken. For the back of the card though, I have the option to manually take the picture. Because I can’t get a picture of the front of the card, I can’t save it. This used to work in the past. ### 2/5 — Crashes *2021-01-13, version 3.4.5* I’ve had Cardmate Pro for several years and it has always worked fine. Since the latest update it crashes when opened. I’ve tried the support link but the email comes back “undeliverable.” Since this is a paid App, I had hoped that the developers would be helpful. This App did everything expected when created and easily would have earned 5 stars in the past but is now useless. ### 2/5 — A little light *2020-12-27, version 3.4.5* Thanks to another review, I've learned that the app is not completely broken. Just the tapping of a card will crash the app but you can still swipe right to flip a card to see the back, as well as drag the card to the left to reveal the edit icon. Pressing that gives you full access to the card and any notes you may have made. I never used the app in this way so thought it was completely broken. They definitely still need to fix the app and their silence is deafening. But at least I can still use the app I paid for. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Most Functional *2017-05-21, version 3.4.2* I have an use most organizational apps this is the easiest way to keep track of every kind of car do you come across. It has never failed me. So both in while traveling I need proof or a business card and it's right on hand. ### 5/5 — Works great; best scanner I've used *2017-04-17, version 3.4.2* Update: developer has fixed the bugs that prevented the app from working with iOS 8. It now works flawlessly and does an excellent job at imaging and storing all my cards. Also, the developer was very nice in communicating with me regarding the status of the new version. This is now a great app again and a must-have! This app doesn't work with iOS 8. I contacted the developer several weeks ago and he said he was working on an update. When this app works, it's fantastic and a 5-star app. Unfortunately, you can't use the camera to add cards right now so it's a bit useless. ### 5/5 — Works Great! *2016-11-01, version 3.4.2* I have used this app for well over a year and have never had any problems entering info or reading entries. I love how I can segregate cards into applicable sections like credit cards or access cards just to name a couple. Every time you take a credit card out of your wallet you risk an opportunity to lose it. As anyone who has ever lost one knows, the consequences can range from a substantial nuisance to a catastrophe. In fact, I keep some of my cards in a safe and use this app where possible to provide information needed for a purchase. I will not go into the mechanics of the app but will say that it elegantly does the job that it was designed to do. Its operation is intuitive, although I always like a written user's guide to be sure I'm not missing a feature.
