### 3/5 — Fun, except bugs

*2025-04-06, version 1.2.1*

I have so much fun with this game, it’s laid back and no stress. However, there are bugs that freeze up the game. Nothing I can find fixes it and when you close out the game you lose the entire run. I am currently at a 342 turn game which is now frozen and it’s so upsetting I want to quit forever.

### 3/5 — Season 2 lowered the fun significantly

*2024-04-10*

I really liked the game during season 1 but some changes made the game feel more like a chore and punishing than rewarding. The randomized upgrades for each castle level makes the game too unpredictable and in some cases too punishing. Also in some cases the game starts to slow down until it just gets stuck (no movement possible anymore) while the sound continues to play. Some changes on the cards just reversed its purpose which does not feel like balancing at all as those adjustments are too extreme. The concept of leveling the castle is fine but those randomized upgrade skills should be removed.

### 4/5 — Tolles Spiel

*2024-01-23*

kurzweilig und spaßig!

### 4/5 — Pretty good!

*2024-01-21*

I like it! It’s a bit addictive, but also a good way to pass time in a relaxed manner. Cards look awesome!

Since it’s still very new it’s bound to have a few bugs but nothing game breaking.
For example:
I noticed that sometimes my Journey Earnings were higher than my Total Balance, so I got less than I earned.
A card that should remove all debuffs didn’t remove the movement restriction.
A card that should replace active effects only removes them.
Setting music and sound effects to 0% doesn’t disable the Death Screen currency count sound effect.

In the end, those are minor and probably won’t be there for long.
You should give it a try!

### 4/5 — Beautiful, enjoyable, buggy

*2024-01-16, version 1.0.0*

Really cool game that I hope gets some updates soon.

Many of the effects are broken. The ones that give you + or - depending on a direction don’t proc sometimes, but most often seem to proc in the opposite direction.

Hourglass of duplicity on a vampiric mask? I never went above 20% steal despite hitting the mark five times in a row.

These were the issues in my last run only. They’re near constant.

Game could use a lot more testing, but it’s a good looking thing and enjoyable nonetheless.

### 3/5 — Magnificent, but missing strategy

*2024-01-13*

Congrats on this magnificent game, cards are beautiful, monsters are funny, design is awesome… but… feels like apart from avoiding some OP monsters when sneaking around or building up a few stats the player don’t have any value.

It could be a bot endlessly swiping, each run longevity would not be that different. Make me take choices, hard trade offs which can lead to powerful builds, etc. I need you to give me a bigger role as a player than being a dumb thumb driven by plain evidence.

**Developer response:** We are grateful to you for playing Cardara! We believe the game already has what it takes to have powerful builds. It might take a little time to find out some of these builds, though! The game is not easy.

We constantly work on improving balance of Cardara! The 1.1.0 version solves some of the issues you described and makes progression feel smoother.

Also, If you are ever able to survive past 200 turns, let us know for sure, would be curious to know your strategy to get there.

Cheers!

### 4/5 — Great

*2024-01-13*

Nice game. I’d love a german translation. :)
A setting for movement would be great.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for playing the game! We will add German translation to the list of things to do!

If you have some time to tell us more about a setting for movement, please contact us via support@vrl.mn, thanks!

### 3/5 — AI Art the game

*2024-01-12, version 1.0.0*

Very clean UI and game is chill, roguelike and rng fun. The art of the cards somewhat puts me off as it’s very clearly AI art. Although the game itself is nice.

### 4/5 — Great Game!

*2024-01-12*

Please translate in German!!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for playing Cardara! We will do our best to translate the game in German!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — 100% luck, 0% strategy

*2024-07-13*

The only choice the player makes is which hidden random card to move to next. The game consists of mindlessly wandering around until I randomly run into an enemy that kills me, and there’s nothing could have done to improve that outcome.

The concept has potential, but there needs to be some strategic basis for making decisions. A simple solution would be to reveal adjacent cards, with risk/reward for choosing more dangerous cards. Or indicate that certain goals are in certain directions. Anything to give me a reason to choose one direction over another.

### 1/5 — This is a bad game, don’t waste your time

*2024-01-18*

First, you might think a lot of effort went into the art, don’t, it’s all AI generated. It’s made from other artists’ work and none of them got paid.
Then the game design is horrendously balanced, and it’s buggy as all hell. Don’t buy it, this is a scam.

### 1/5 — Zero thought put into this "game"

*2024-01-14, version 1.0.0*

You can't preview the cards you choose to step into, which takes away your power as the player and turns the game into "swipe and admire my AI art while you hope to get better RNG this time". There is zero strategy or decision making, the stats are not traditional (DEX, STR, etcetera) which is fine, but they are not even explained. The UI is very nice and there are progressive unlockables, but this is 2024 and these are not hard things to put into a game.

Please do not support this lousy use of AI.

### 1/5 — Feels like the entire game was AI generated.

*2024-01-13*

Soulless AI-generated art. Soulless AI-generated flavor text that often doesn’t even match the art or function of the associated card. Asinine game mechanics; it isn’t fun or challenging at all.

Please don’t buy this trash.

### 2/5 — Eigentlich…

*2025-03-03*

### 2/5 — 100% luck, 0% strategy

*2024-08-09, version 1.2.1*

The only choice the player makes is which hidden random card to move to next. ### 2/5 — No health…too many monsters. Always dead

*2024-01-27, version 1.1.0*

Can we make this fair I spent 3 bucks and feel ripped off so far.

### 2/5 — Lack of agency

*2024-01-15, version 1.0.0*

Game feels entirely luck driven. You have run where you encounter nothing but monsters and die. Or you have a run where you get 99% Reduction and then run into a monster with 1000 HP and die. Random events that reverse cards and wording or change the colors of everything feel gimmicky and while I see the gameplay implications simply aren’t enjoyable and are more often than not frustrating and deflating while you wait for the timer to tick down and end. Things like increasing game speed and pov feel like they belong in the shop not on random cards. I never felt like my character was getting stronger during or between runs. Overall I would not recommend this game.

### 2/5 — No strategic element or game design

*2024-01-14, version 1.0.0*

I think it’s sad that more and more games like this are popping up in the App Store.
The cards seem to be random Midjourney pictures, the stats are random and the gameplay is bland. There is no real difference between the cards and it makes zero difference in which direction you swipe. At the end of the day it’s just a repetitive game of swiping where some cards give you positive perks, some give you negative ones.

Devs, please learn from other CCD-s where there is a real element of strategy.

### 3/5 — Cool Concept

*2025-07-08, version 1.2.1*

The concept is cool. I appreciate the premium nature of it as I hope it’s being used to fund a new project from the studio, and to hire actual artists as most of the art is AI. The gameplay is perfect for a phone though. It a bit chaotic at times with very little thought put into actions. I’m interested in the future of this studio.

### 5/5 — Much improved and hours of fun 😄

*2024-02-11, version 1.1.3*

With most pesky bugs fixed, I’m very happy to re-give it 5🌟! Countless hours of offline fun for just £3 👏. I need more of these games! 😌

### 5/5 — Great since update

*2024-02-01, version 1.1.1*

A very fun and enjoyable card game and well worth the asking price.

The game is still very young and it looks like there a plans to add some exciting elements to the game. The bug fixes are a game changer as some were game breakers.

A great addition to the game may be to add a story of some sort. Also maybe an option to return home to your castle to “bank” your earned exp for a bonus.

Game feels slick - art style is incredibly engaging, although some cards feel like they’re a slightly different style to the majority of cards.

Overall would highly recommend

### 5/5 — Great game

*2024-01-12, version 1.0.0*

This was a surprise discovery! Simple gameplay but loads of possibilities. Love the art, effects and music. I can see this one is going to be addictive, has that one more go factor. Well done devs!!

### 5/5 — Such a nice surprise!

*2024-01-10, version 1.0.0*

This game came out of nowhere and it’s simply delightful. I love the concept, the presentation, the awesome card art and the music is great (now that’s a compliment from someone who generally turns off bgm in all games). Very good work dev(s) I hope you stick with this genre and look forward to seeing more of your work in the future!

### 5/5 — Удачи

*2024-01-08*

Стильный, милый таймкиллер с рандомным развитием геймплея. Рекомендую.

**Developer response:** Огромное спасибо за то, что играете! Постараемся в ближайшее время добавить ещё больше новых карт и механик!

### 4/5 — Game breaking bugs

*2024-12-24, version 1.2.1*

I’ve been really enjoying the game but I’ve come across some massive run ruining softlocks. Any time that I kill a hydra head the game freezes and I’m not able to move or do anything but opening and closing the menu. The game also completely freezes if you manage to get the mechanical bird and swamp hoarder effects at the same time.
These things are so easy to accidentally get, and if you ever close the game for any reason the run is lost and you get nothing from the journey, the other day this caused me to lose an almost 300 turn game.
The game has so much potential, but it’s so easy to ruin everything with absolutely nothing you can do about it, losing all rewards.

### 4/5 — Mostly awesome, 1 major flaw

*2024-04-01, version 1.2.0*

I beat a king card and headed for the exit, but the exit was replaced due to an ongoing effect. Cool. I figured I’d just keep going ‘til I died. Unfortunately, I had gotten so powerful that the chaos couldn’t increase enough to generate a card that could kill me. I’m well over 1000 turns now, and can’t end the game without losing all my hard-earned winnings! This has become the game that never ends! Making the exit card immune to replacement/erasure would be a great way to fix this.

### 4/5 — Love the concept - keep working on this 💚

*2024-02-04, version 1.1.1*

The concept is great and the game is fun - especially to any drawn to the RPG and roguelike genres. Don’t listen to anyone being negative and give it a chance. The game needs a little polishing and hopefully it will continue to improve. 😼

### 4/5 — Relaxing, exploratory, polished

*2024-02-02*

My only complaints: - Swiping feels sloppy. Make it snappier and less wobbly. I should be able to flick naturally in any direction. - Combat is very opaque despite the way you’ve done it here. You should think about how you can have the player more connected to each attack. I just watch the HP move and it’s not very clear what’s going on, even with the small display of attacks. In short, it feels disconnected and superfluous.

Finally, some of the language support could be improved. Use full words to describe totally unknown acronyms, otherwise you force new players to constantly reference there stats having no idea what a buff did. “Instantly remove void” card an example of cards with very little description, I don’t even know what it does.

### 4/5 — Possible bug

*2024-02-01, version 1.1.1*

I don’t know if it’s a card in game I’ve tried looking but doesn’t show anything but I’ve had it happen twice already on really really good runs. Where after a battle or out of no where my attack goes straight to one and after that can’t do anything about it. Run turns from a perfect side scroll run to absolutely unplayable run. Is it a bug or a card in game that does this? It’s happened twice so if it’s a card it’s a game ending run.
