It would be awesome to add a feature where we can take photos with the phone for framing and maybe even audio for notes on that frame/ scene. It would make it easier to track the ideas and projects as they work from scrap to fruition. This app is an excellent start for blocking out ideas. If the developer gets the support I could see this App becoming an incredibly helpful tool. ### 3/5 — Eh *2021-08-08, version 2021.1.1* Seems pretty good, but I wish there were more boards available for the free version. 2 doesn’t seem to be enough. ### 3/5 — Good enough, too minimal to justify pro upgrade at the moment *2021-04-05, version 2021.1.1* App works well enough. You can create notecards and drag them around a canvas easily, zoom in and out of the canvas, and easily delete/add new notecards. There aren’t many features, however. I question whether $23 for the pro version is worth the price just to unlock multiple cork boards. I’ll keep an eye out if more features are added and consider changing my review later. The app is much more geared towards drawing on the notecards than typing, which unfortunately isn’t my primary use case. Font and text formatting control is unfortunately lacking. Text autofits to notecards. I would love to see some snapping/grid spacing options for the cards, custom sizing of cards, text formatting controls, and different export options like plaintext or formatted text so that card contents can be copied and pasted to other documents, beat sheets, lists, etc. With these kinds of features, this could become an invaluable part of my process. The potential is there. ### 4/5 — Good app *2020-12-21, version 2020.4* I think that this app is pretty cool and was exactly what I needed. Very simple, but does its job very well and efficiently. I haven’t experienced any problems. One thing I think could be added is maybe a feature to insert photos or drawings, as this would mean I could put character designs I’ve done in different apps into my board. Yeah it’s pretty and everything but it keeps crashing on my iPad Pro. I mean how can I work if my work continuously get lost? Will update review if it gets better. ### 1/5 — One board, really?? *2024-02-05, version 2023.1* Lovely I absolutely adore the app and it’s settings! I find it easy to use and quite helpful with the ability to rearrange things! Yet there are many, and I mean MANY setbacks. First of all, is there seriously only a singular board to go with? I would say atleast five is a small but good amount especially without buying, but ONE…? Really? Come on now. The nest is more of a personal preference. I feel you should be able to zoom in more to the cards. It’s just a small pet peeve of mine that I can deal with, but the one board is really something that I hate. Please consider adding more, even. I would become a raving fan if they added copy & paste image capability because $23/yr for the app currently available is not it. Update: Just found out you can't even copy and paste other cards? lol ### 2/5 — doesn't function at all on mac so *2023-04-18, version 2023.1* might've been good, - especially on iphone or ipad - but doesn't work at all on mac. as well as that, the 2 boards limit just seems silly and not in a good way. it's as if the app is torturing and annoying you into purchasing the full version rather than making the user love the app enough to purchase the full version knowing how reliable and useful the app is to them. Its actually infuriating. ### 3/5 — *Almost* great… *2024-07-24, version 2024.1* Love the interface, its beautiful simplicity is exactly what I was looking for to plot my story. I feel like a lot of the alternative apps are trying to hard to wow you with useless bells and whistles or, worse yet, AI nonsense. So CardBeat is my pick! Alas, it is also quite buggy. Sometimes I’ll spend several minutes writing a card, only for the program to crash and delete it. Of course, I can remember and re-write it, but it’s quite a disruption to the process. I’d consider going “pro” if I was more confident in the program, but until then…it’s good enough. ### 3/5 — Still no snapping or linking *2022-09-29, version 2022.1.4* It’s been a year since someone suggested card snapping and still not implemented. No way to link cards together either as a group or with connection lines etc. This could be a really great app.. but seems it hasn’t received any love for a long time. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — This Deserves 5 Stars *2025-05-24* This app does exactly what it’s supposed to do and does it really well. ### 5/5 — Not perfect, but just right *2024-11-17, version 2024.1* I don’t usually write reviews for things, but this app deserves this. I have looked, and there isn’t any other app that does what this app does. It’s simple it’s easy, it’s going to help me SO much with writing in the future. And there isn’t an accursed subscription. Maybe I’m cheap, but I don’t like subscriptions. And as long as I limit myself to one to two projects at once, I shouldn’t have to spend a dime :) I was seriously about to go out and buy a cork board and a ton of notecards, and then I saw this app, and it really saved me, because I don’t have any room for a cork board. So thank you. ### 5/5 — A complete game-changer! *2023-11-23, version 2023.1* I write constantly. For years, my girlfriend has tolerated rows and rows of sticky notes covering our walls. This app does everything I need as a writer, and all while being quite privacy-conscious. This is a must-have for novelists, screenwriters, anyone passionate about storytelling! ### 5/5 — This is a very, very good app… but, *2023-11-01, version 2023.1* … it needs some more functionality with formatting, colours, backgrounds etc. and generally, a few more options. The MAIN thing is: it needs to be £12.99 one time purchase. It’s good at what it is, but what it is - is not a £22.99 app. Creating cards is all well and good, but that’s all it is. If it was, I don’t know, also a notes app with a calendar then, yeah £22.99, but no. I use the free one in the limited role from time to time and as I say, it’s excellent at what it does. I hope it grows higher in App Store rankings. I’d use this over other note taking apps if it allowed: cards to snap to a grid, image import, and text/font tools. I mostly use it for plotting out my story ideas, and the features available work very well. There is some features I still would like to see though, including being able to have a set text size and being able to resize notes. This app is very functional and I much prefer it over many other apps. The only downside to this app is that the boards have a restricted size, and the free version only allows two boards! I’d buy the pro version but I can't see myself paying $40 AUD— which is a lot of money. ### 4/5 — Almost perfect! *2023-03-24, version 2023.1* Fantastic tool for the chaotic mind that wants to keep it simple! Love how clean and smooth the interface is with options to write on cards or the board itself. Still, very glad to have found this app! ### 4/5 — Excellent UI, needs more bells and whistles. *2022-12-17, version 2023.1* The controls feel very natural in terms of taps and swipes compared to another similar app which felt very unnatural having the user go back and forth tapping with 1 finger or 2 fingers or dragging with 3 fingers, this one feels good to use. I think they need to revisit monetization maybe sell additional boards in bundles or singularly for a small fee. Also needs more features, would love if boards were on more of a grid we could have option to snap to just to keep everything more in line. I would also love to be able to put more information or a photo on the back of the card.
