### 3/5 — Used for years, love but want more features

*2026-05-12, version 7.0*

I used this app for more than half of my undergraduate studies (basically since I purchased my iPad) and have really enjoyed it quite a lot. It does what it needs to do. I’m about to use it for diagnostic exam prep for grad school. That being said, this review is more for the creators/editors, as a suggestion box from a long-time user. Below are my top beefs (aka, things I would love to see improved/added): You have categories, but I would love folders, so I can divide multiple boards into a place where I don’t have to constantly see/scroll through them when I’ve moved on from that material, but still want to hold on to it. Please make it possible for me to put more than one image on a flashcard. Another function I would love is having multiple fonts on one page, not just italics or bold to differentiate things. If some of these things exist and I just don’t know how, please instruct me! But I do love this app and would love to see it continue to improve.

### 2/5 — Frequent freezes

*2025-12-03, version 6.9*

I love this app, or would if it didn't frequently freeze while navigating between boards or other windows on my iPad Pro to copy/paste text. Unfortunately, it lags so bad I have to force quit the app to go back in. Maybe I'm impatient or its user error, but nothing in the documentation explains why the lag occurs. Frustrating because I do like the ability to lay out what you want, color code, format with Markdown. But the freezes make it unusable.

### 4/5 — Couldn’t function without this app in grad school

*2025-11-16, version 6.9*

I learn best by writing, but writing entire outlines is too long and typed FlashCards don’t do it for me. This app has completely changed my studying and I’m thriving in med school primarily with this app.

HOWEVER there are really annoying things that would be easy fixes and make a difference. Biggest one is the sensitivity to wrist contact - I’m constantly erasing little dots and lines that aren’t a prob on other writing apps with the Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil haptics should work in the app too - I usually squeeze to erase, but that just doesn’t work in this app. You should also be able to make folders so you can separate notes by classes. Please consider these updates! Thanks!

### 4/5 — Amazing app but partner app flashcards crashes too often for this app to be worth it for me:(

*2025-05-13, version 6.8*

It’s a great app but I use it with flashcards by Qrayon to study. However flashcards constantly crashes which makes this unusable for me :( This app is amazing though the mind map flash card style is everything I’ve been looking for! Once Qrayons FlashCard app is better I’d love to use this app again. Definitely worth the money !

### 4/5 — Hi for request

*2025-03-22*

1. Can you make tab to toggle card 2: can you make finger swife to goes to the next card? 3, i want cmake the folder to classify the cards 4. I want more catgorize

And lastly it would be nice to see the card on iPhone for study purpose

### 4/5 — How can i reduce eraser size?

*2025-03-20*

I want to reduce eraser size! But I can't see eraser size button.

### 4/5 — Great, but…

*2025-02-24, version 6.8*

My only gripe with this great app is the way it defaults to a ‘pen’ setting rather than text input. Annoying.

### 3/5 — Love it but…

*2025-01-25, version 6.8*

Love this app for studying in nursing school, but I have a problem with it crashing. If I make new notecards frequently and toggle between the app window and another window or zoom into and out of cards frequently, the app crashes and deletes the last few edits I just made.

I haven’t found an app that is similar so I’m stuck here. I LOVE THIS APP, but it’s small bugs that make me upset.

Additionally, can a template be made to have a “new card” created with the blank side?

I would also LOVE the ability to make folders for my boards instead of categorize them on one screen.

### 3/5 — nice, but needs some updates.

*2024-11-19, version 6.7*

can you please add the apple tools palette for apple pencil pro. i use the squeeze feature often on apple notes and it would be super useful on here to easily switch colors.

### 2/5 — Bitte iOS-App anbieten

*2024-09-28, version 6.7*

### 3/5 — Good until you print…

*2024-08-16, version 6.7*

I just got this app. Good functionality up until you PRINT. At that point, there’s no control over the huge white margins you get when printing from an iPad. I’ve never had an app that creates huge margins (1.5” top and bottom, 1.25” sides) — with no control. I tried doing a screen shot of the board, but that’s hit or miss as well. Almost a really good app.

### 5/5 — The perfect note card app

*2024-05-14, version 6.7*

Index cards are, in my opinion, the perfect note system for people. They are what I would consider RAM. Index cards hold bits of information that we gathered throughout the day. Index cards allow us to sort and we can arrange this data on a daily basis. The issue with most note taking apps lack the ability to quickly sort and rearrange notes. This app fixes it. It perfectly simulates having index cards. I love that allows the user to link cards together. And also organizes them with a few gestures. This is a wonderful addition to my work flow.

### 4/5 — Beau potentiel pas encore complètement exploité

*2024-04-24*

### 5/5 — Still Around

*2024-04-14, version 6.7*

My first computer was an 80286 running MS DOS. My favorite program was called Card File. It was very similar to this one. This has everything needed to keep tabs on everything in your personal life.

### 3/5 — Convenient, but sloppy

*2024-04-11, version 6.7*

Integration with flashcards is nice, as is the option to use pencil. By these standards it's the best choice, although the price seems an awful lot if the only thing you need is to move flashcards between apps/devices. For the price I would expect decks to sync automatically. They do not, which is very annoying if you want to add or change a card. Because the apps don't sync the simple act of adding an app in card flow means losing learned progress in flashcards, because you have to delete the existing flashcard deck and import the changed one as though it's something entirely new.

Price is also a lot for how sloppy the actual app functions are. Very little is intuitive and no gesture seems to work consistently. Selecting multiple (but not all cards) to copy only works some of the time. Trying to move a single card is just as likely to create a connected card or connect two existing cards and it's very annoying that the simple act of dragging a card across the board can take five attempts. Technology has advanced too far for the board to not expand automatically and instead limit deck size.

It's just such a frustrating app to use, especially because it is so expensive. It's the only option for syncing handwritten cards across devices and the developers are taking advantage of that to charge a fortune for what frankly seems a very lazily designed app. Typical monopoly behavior. I don't understand how all the five star reviewers aren't beyond frustrated with the actual app design.

### 3/5 — Great product but speech to text does not work

*2024-02-19, version 6.7*

Love the product, but when doing storyboarding, I use speech to text exclusively, but does not work on your product.

### 5/5 — Best of the bunch

*2024-02-16, version 6.7*

I’ve tried most of the note taking apps. For me, most are too bloated with extras that get in the way. This feels just right.

This app is perfect for me. I don’t draw much but the board layout, index cards and text notes are fantastic!

### 4/5 — PLEASE LET US SLIDE OR SHUFFLE!!!!

*2024-02-05, version 6.4*

This app is great but can we please have an update where you are able to slide through all the cards so it’s better for studying and I don’t have to keep picking cards, and forgetting which ones I picked. Or even a shuffle cards option would be great.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Deleted all of my cards…

*2025-01-27, version 6.8*

I made hundreds of cards over the past few years and had’nt used the app in 8months. Just opened it up to find everything is blank.. none of the boards or cards that I made appear anywhere. Super disappointed that this happened and that I lost years of hard work :’(

### 1/5 — Work Disappears

*2024-12-27, version 6.8*

Did the free version, looked good so purchased. Then made a 15 card board the same day. Great. Then looked again and 5 of the cards were blank. Okay, so I’ll do those missing cards again. Great. Then same thing only different cards are now blank. Can’t trust this to any work because it might not be there for long. Highly suspect, do not recommend.

### 1/5 — Absolutely No Customer Support

*2023-11-02, version 6.4*

Interesting App but God help you if you have a problem. A giant Cardflow+ file I had been working on for weeks got corrupted. When I look at the file, I can see the data is all there, 170 cards, but I can’t view them. 10 minutes of support would probably solve the whole problem, but there isn’t any. Not even a user’s group where one might find a solution to a problem.

Ergo, I will take 2 weeks reconstructing and re-doing the work. I can’t ever trust this app again, let alone pay an ongoing monthly subscription fee. Pity, because, while the app is far from perfect, it is unique and an interesting way to work.

But I I’m done. If you can take my money every month, you can answer a question or two when your app fails and destroys my work.

BTW, the app hasn’t been updated in 4 years!!!

### 1/5 — New card auto zooms in

*2023-08-07, version 6.4*

For some reason in this version when you go on a card it automatically zooms in slightly making the + button disappear, so you have to manually adjust each card with your fingers too zoom out and get that button back.

If you want to quickly add cards in succession it’s a killer.

### 1/5 — Free version is better?

*2022-12-12, version 6.3*

I enjoyed using Cardflow, so I purchased Cardflow+ expecting all the same features and more! And sure, there are a few additional features, but the Apple Pencil support is lacking compared to my experience in the free version. It was seamless before, and now I can’t even enable Pencil-Only Drawing Mode (and yes, Bluetooth is enabled on my device and in the app settings). Using my pencil is what I enjoy most about the app, so it’s a bummer to know I was better off saving the $15.

UPDATE: Entire app is trash. I stupidly assumed that following the Cloud icon to save my boards meant they were being saved in my iCloud. They were not. They were saved to my device. I learned this after I deleted and reinstalled the app to fix the above bug and lost all of my previous workin the process.

A refund would be great.

### 1/5 — Add a Swipe Feature

*2022-05-24, version 6.2*

While giving a speech or holding a meeting it would be helpful to have an easy swipe right, left, up or down feature. Tapping the heading to get to the next card is cumbersom.

### 1/5 — Miserable to work with

*2022-02-25, version 6.2*

I just purchased this program for my iPads and the one for the Mac. I cannot export files from one to the other. It is all with Cardflow. I need a program that will go back and forth between devices easily. I tried email, texting, and airdrop and nothing works no matter the option you try. I will not renew the subscription for the Mac after the free trial period. Really disappointing.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2022-02-13, version 6.2*

It claims you can send to other users and you can’t

### 1/5 — CONSTANT CRASHES & LOSS OF WORK!!!!

*2022-01-19, version 6.2*

This app could be great. Instead it wastes my time because it doesn’t save properly and all progress is gone forever. So frustrating. This happens every time now. I can’t ever save my progress on either the iPad or Mac. Always pulls up previous version before I added changes. Hours of work just gone. Bad app!!!!

### 1/5 — Horrible UI

*2021-11-08, version 6.1*

Looking at the program summary, it seems to have what is needed to be a good flash card program.

However, using the program is extremely frustrating because simple things like: creating a card style, copying a card, and even viewing cards is difficult without accidentally modifying them.

My request: please rethink the entire UI and user manual. This is perhaps a useful program, but it impossible to determine because of the poor design.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — EUREKA! Great solution!

*2026-08-04, version 7.0*

It's so great to help me arrange the flow of the story I am writing. It is a way to spread parts out in front of me, so I can move things around, or stick things in between. Without taking up physical floor, wall or table space. i am so grateful for this program!

### 5/5 — Great note taking and storyboarding app

*2026-05-08*

Using it for planning my stories, plot brainstorming and storyboarding. Overall, this simple app has so much versatile note taking potential, and it also has this analog feel to it, which is super precious for me, because I mostly use traditional cards for brainstorming. This app helps me when I’m traveling and cannot take all of my physical notes with me.

### 5/5 — literally couldn't survive without this

*2026-04-25, version 7.0*

as a stem & economics student being able to type, draw and highlight is a necessity and this app is amazing. using the corresponding flashcard app it's so easy to use and revise. a definite worthwhile good value investment for any student.

### 5/5 — Data Bases

*2025-11-14, version 6.9*

I do enjoy the simplicity, but I also enjoy the potential usability that can go way beyond simplicity. I presume that the intended to keep it simple which I presume which I would enjoy however there’s something that I need to and it’s about the idea of databases the way I see it is that you could take any one of those cards and within it you could make other cars within it which in itself becomes a database. I’m sure you understand that now I’m sure that it’s important that that database remain. Intact and for some reason that the whole app doesn’t disappear so I know there’s some way of achieving that no another thing is I have been. I have been toying with the idea of creating a let’s call it a a master system of my system within within say ex mind and look at mine and look at that as being like the organizational structure with the top with the top of box being like me and all the other boxes going across being like areas of concerned or areas of my interest and then I’d have a link from each one of those That will be going to one of the databases as I’m calling them or collections within cod, flow plus I just wanna know if that concept would work because what I would need is is probably the way it would work is that I would set something up in the next mind and automatically potentially link or create a database or at least at the top level one within cod, flow I’ll stop there because I’m just wondering if that concept would somehow fit in with your within your company. Thanks for listening.

### 5/5 — Folder function

*2025-08-09, version 6.8*

Could you guys make a function that allow us to create separate folders so we could keep our notes organized? That would be amazing

### 5/5 — Real index cards with iPad!

*2025-06-18, version 6.8*

LOVE this app because I was still able to hand write flash cards without wasting paper, and I can dual-screen my notes and the card flow app to make study guides. This is the best study tool ever, and so worth the purchase. I use it every day during nursing school.

I do have some suggestions for how to improve the app experience. The first and foremost is that I would like to have a toggle for the eraser size, since currently it is not customizable. I would also like to see a + sign to add more cards from ANY card, not just the last one in the deck. Sometimes I want to organize the cards into different piles, and adding from any of those piles would be easier than having a + button only from the last card. Finally, I would like to see folders to organize entire boards, rather than just labels. This would make it easier to organize boards based on what I use them for.

Overall I love this app and will continue to love and use it!

### 5/5 — The app is excellent, but it has a few critical issues.

*2025-05-28*

One major problem is the requirement to use two fingers to move the screen. Why? why? why? I wonder if the developers realize how inconvenient this is. I sincerely hope they enable one-finger navigation. I’m not even asking for Apple Pencil Pro features.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2025-03-17, version 6.8*

Easy to use and organize thoughts. Totally worth the upgrade.

### 5/5 — Nice app

*2024-07-07, version 6.7*

Nice app , l m waiting for the next update

### 5/5 — Bought it without even trying

*2024-07-05, version 6.7*

I searched Google for an app that would allow me to write on digital index cards so I could test my math knowledge. This does exactly that. It is NOT a test maker. It does not create tests based on your index cards. What it does is allow you to write on both sides just as you would with real index cards. I used index cards a lot in my earlier college days, and this app feels like that but better. I love how I can slide the cards around on the grid (grid snapping is optional). Writing is smooth with the Apple Pencil. No regrets at all buying this app, and cheers to the dev for creating it.
