The match making and the card balancing is pretty good, I’d like to see other game modes. ### 4/5 — Great Revamp; Loved this game for years! *2026-06-28* There’s been a few past iterations of this game but I feel like Ultimate has the bones to take the cake. It has lots of very unique gameplay mechanics and so many different viable decks, there really isn’t one “Meta” deck. I will say it definitely needs a lot of improvements, as it needs to explain certain mechanics better and it’s taken YouTube videos and trial and error to even understand what certain abilities mean (ex. Never gave a definition what “Temporary Card” means, or what counts as a “Spell” card). Clearing the campaign gives you tons and tons of free cards (including tons of legendaries). Definitely worth a play ### 3/5 — Great game sucky support *2026-03-01* The game itself is fantastic but it takes a very long time to get in a match and even if that happens the game crashes and ends abruptly. ### 4/5 — Fun Sequel *2026-03-01* CnC ultimate refines the mechanics from CnC II, with faster paced card battling action. A renewed emphasis on positioning, helped by the guardian squares, lends this CnC its signature unique gameplay. The card designs and strategies seem easy to learn but hard to master. PVP is unforgiving and there is a steep learning curve. Even at the lowest ranks you can expect to meet someone who has a very good deck. Games are often decided by turn 3, a departure from the previous entry. Additionally, comeback mechanics are scarce if they exist at all. If you haven’t gotten something started by turn 3, you might as well surrender. The choice to limit AOE allows more unit gameplay, while resulting in a very punishing experience for anyone who falls even one turn behind. This does encourage thoughtful deck building, you seriously won’t be able to win without a carefully crafted strategy. Overall it’s been fun so far, and I can’t wait to figure out how to make those silly combos that end games turn 3. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Matchmaking error *2026-08-20* Cannot finish a match before being removed? It’s nothing more than a cash grab..very greedy.. offers nothing like cards and castles 2 did. The rest suck. You’re just going to get dunked on by the same decks over and over. It’s not fun, it’s stupid. ### 2/5 — Inconsistent Mechanics *2026-06-17* This game has so many inconsistencies… The guardian squares prevent you from attacking another person’s castle (unless you have chain lighting, or 80% of ninja card skills, or any damage spell, or cleave, or you have a character that deals damage through a skill). On top of that, the devs barely attempt to balance cards, and when they finally do every 4 months, they fix 3 cards. Also have fun playing the same person 3 times in a row because the player base is too low. ### 2/5 — “Can’t connect to game” *2026-03-27* This game drops 80% of the time and it’s impossible to reconnect. The server is entirely unreliable and it makes a really great game unplayable. **Developer response:** Hey sorry about this, we are working very hard to increase stability of player connections in these cases. If you are able, please join our community discord and post in bug reports about your issues. ### 2/5 — Just Confused *2026-03-02* Genuinely don’t get why we decided to come out with a completely new game instead of building on the one we had. Cards and Castles 2 was so much fun, and the abilities made sense. Now it’s just a bunch of random stuff doing more random stuff. Hopefully yall work on this game consistently instead of just pushing a new one out in a year. Cards and Castles 2 went 6 months without any revisions or updates and now you come out with a new game to start all over again on cards.
